I have that “brush”. It is made by Epona! It works really well to get the dried mud and loose hair off!! Perfect for this time of year. That color blue looks cute on Finn! And Laura you should definitely go all out with the western tack! Stella looks good in bling! I just started my “new to me” horse on a calming supplement ( Forecalm by Forefront Equine) and it has lots of magnesium in it as well as Chamomile and other natural things. It has started to help!! She gets anxious without her paddock buddy- but the regular work I am doing with her - now that the weather is getting better - is also helping ALOT! I really hope you can get a chance to go to a seminar that Lindsey Partridge does.... I saw her do a demo at the Horse World Expo in PA a few weeks ago and the exercises she taught for the anxious horse have helped me and my Mare tremendously!!! I so want you to exceed with Stella! I am your age and I know how nerve wracking it can be after a fall with broken bones- been there done that!! I feel like my horse journey is on a parallel plain to yours! And one last thing... when you guys brought Finn home I called my boyfriend to tell him that Sophie got her horse lol!! And even he knew exactly who I was talking about 😂 Love you guys!! 🥰

Billy cooks are EXPENSIVE! You probably want a used one because even though they are used they will last a long time! The synthetic ones you are looking at won't last a super long time.
I love how you have your horse consultant and budding trainer to rely on--Gabby! She is so mature for her age. Handles horses with a lot of confidence and takes it so seriously. Sophie and Laura are a lot alike and are kind of push-overs, lol, so Gabby balances things out with the horses.
I think that Finn is a stunning baby boy and Sophie looked so happy when she rode him to try him. I think that you should update the intro with Gabby and Storm, Sophie and Finn and Laura and Stella and Sam and Willow :)

Rocky Roads yes, no offence to Laura but I’d have thought that too, 16” is small, average adults usually have something bigger, although I don’t ride western, but for English you’d measure by sitting somewhere so your thigh is at a right angle to your lower leg and measure from the back of your buttock to the point of your knee. That would give a rough idea to translate to size and you’d want a hand width space to fit from cantle to butt. You only look like your hanging over the back of the saddle etc if it’s too small and that will happen no matter what shape the saddle is, which is basically what Laura was saying. I’m sure she’ll figure it out and as she says, the saddle has to fit Stella, so there may have to be a compromise 😊
Did you try a 16 inch saddle while sitting on a horse too? I think when you get to moving around it might be too small. I’d maybe get sized but it depends on brands too I guess. I’d do a trial if you can!
I’m so happy for you guys, and I love seeing the joy on her face. I’m so glad you got quiessence for Stella, I gave it to one of my horse who was spooky and he has become way better. I also give it to every horse on mine now, it’s good for them, and I’ve found it makes them so much more in tune to their rider/owner.

Laura may want to consider an Australian stock saddle. The poleys make it very secure and give your legs something to brace on if things go south. Even more secure feeling than a western saddle.

Whatever size the saddle in the video was, it is too small. Your butt should be against the cantle, not sitting on it. Suede seat will be grippier, but you can buy silicone grippy riding breeches if you have a smooth leather seat instead. Want to give you the edge and keep you in the saddle! ☺ That's the great thing about pleasure riding--no fashion rules.
I have that magnesium supplement and I found it has worked wonders on my horse I really recommend it I found within 2 to 3 weeks it was really working hope it works for her!

I ride western but if a western saddle fits you you should be able to fit 2-3 fingers between your leg and the saddle horn!

We do that with stella! All of them get private time. Stella also loves to lead for walks. She is at the front and never looks back!

Perfect prep is great for calming before riding. You can also get a daily thing called Training Day that is good.
