You've just earned yourself a sub. Thanks for putting this out here. I think you're right about knowing how to tune the EQs to get the mic output to where you want it is important. Trying ti get a mic for my wife, for her channel and other videos I watched just labelled the mic as 'not so good.' Your video made it obvious that they probably came to that conclusion because they don't know how to tune the sound output for the mic. Thank you very much!
Thanks for the review on this, I wanted a small mic for my olympus camera and now I'm convinced.
Now im surely getting the mke200 after i saw your video. Thanks so much for a great review
Hi WeTheKongs! Thank you so much for reaching out! I’m glad to hear that! It was my pleasure! Thanks again for watching🤘🏻. Stay safe!
Thank you so much for doing the quick test of how it sounds in the rear end of the microphone! :)
A high quality review and observations, I like your test 👍🏻
Hi fraa Simpl! Thank you very much! I’m glad you enjoyed it. Stay safe!🤘🏻
Thanks for this review. I'm not filming for any paid productions, just family videos. The D4 Duo seemed to be the one to get with the rear capsule, but overall wind issues and size make this Mic be the one to get.
Hi Shane! Thanks for reaching out! Yeah...I love the Deity, but the wind issues outside are a deal breaker. You won’t regret the Sennheiser! Thanks again for watching! Stay safe!🤘🏻
Yes comepletely agree about those folks who complain about fixing the audio. So many folks complain about splitting left and right audio. I like that the mic can be used something like the d4 in a pinch. I too wasn't happy about the d4 duo outdoor usage and a super let down. Thanks for t his.
Hi Chris! Definitely! I was INCREDIBLY let down by the D4 Duo😔. IDK what happened. Deity usually makes fantastic mics🤷🏻♂️. You’re so welcome and thanks again for watching! Stay safe!
This title caught my eye because I'm also shooting a short film and my requirements are the same as yours. The 200 is cheaper than the newer 400 but judging from this awesome video, it will meet my needs. Thanks for a great review
Anytime!
Great review! I'm glad you showed what it sounds like when you're talking behind the camera, I wanted something that wouldn't do that, so I guess this isn't for me.
I’m legit thinking of returning my VideoMic Go 2 and picking up one of these . This wind performance is impressive
Great review, super helpful thanks 😊
Awesome video man! I have been trying to decide between this and the 400.
This Mic definitely sounds Great. Like you Im Very impressed with the Mic especially at only $100.
Wow! 😳 this sound is amazing!
Paty Lolo Thank you, my love😊. It is very good for the price!
Thank you. Just ordered it!!
My pleasure, Scottie Vee! You’re gonna love it! Thank you so much for watching and reaching out! Stay safe🤘🏻
Great deal, thanks for the info
Of course!🤘🏻 Thank you so much for watching.
Great mic, thanks for video)
thanks~ great review, I’m gonna get this.
Hi Self So by ELL! Thanks for reaching out! Of course! Anytime! You’re going to love it. It’s a really solid mic for $100. If you have any questions when you get it, please, don’t hesitate to ask. I’d love to help👍. Thanks again for watching! Stay safe🤘🏻
Very Helpful. Thank you!
Hi Gosling MLBB! Thanks for reaching out! I’m so glad I could help! Thanks again for watching🤘🏻. Stay safe!
SUCH a great video!!!
Hi Albert! Thank you for reaching out! I’m glad you enjoyed it! Stay safe🤘🏻
damn who else here was amazed at how cued that wind was
Hi Louie! I know, right?!😂. I couldn’t believe it. Things don’t usually go in my favor like that. Thank you so much for watching and reaching out! Stay safe!
Top level review, you deserve more subs!
Hi FILM 2.0! Thanks so much for reaching out! I really appreciate the kind words. I’m hoping for more subs very soon 😂. Thanks again for watching. Stay safe!
ParaPhase Entertainment thanks man, keep up the good work!
Amazing! U help me, a lot 💕
Hi Jade! Thanks for reaching out! Of course! I’m glad I could help🤘🏻. Stay safe!
great review!! subscribed
Hi Pelari! Thanks for reaching out! I appreciate it! It’s a great mic for the price. Thanks again for watching! Stay safe. 🤘🏻
101 -like. I WAS ABOUT TO BUY and was searching for some reviews. after having your opinion on this I made up my mind to buy it right now. thanks for taking this much pain with minute details. stay safe.
Dr. Abininav sharma from INDIA.
Hi DR Abhinav Sharma! Thank you so much for reaching out! I’m glad I was able to help you make the right purchase decision. It was my pleasure! Thanks again for watching! Stay safe!
Thanks for the video. Do you think it's better to set the camera body to -12db and +20 on the MKE400 or the camera body at +0 and the leave the MKE400 in the middle.
Sounds good, make your own wind eat some beans lol
😂Hi Jacky! Thanks for reaching out!
Very much an omini mic - If you can hear leaves rustling in the wind you going to hear the cars drive buy when youre in a street - Its OK I suppose.... But The RodeVideoMicro matches that every step of the way and is not so midrange. Ive used mine in Broadcast run and gun situations in semi gale force conditions and its brilliant
Hi digitalmotionfilms! Thanks for reaching out! I agree. Both mics sound phenomenal for the price in my opinion. It comes down to preference. In my tests, I found the RODE to sound just as good, but not block wind as effectively. Thanks again for watching! Stay safe!
Hi, nice review! Which deadcat you use with the mke 200?
cool, I like your point about recording wind. Do you have any RUclips video about basic EQ/ compress tutorial ?? for filmmaker like me. ^_^
OMG - Original Motion Gears Hi! Thanks for reaching out! Yes. They are the links in the comment below. I would watch the one on top first. That will show you the setup/mic placement/gain setting etc. The second video shows you how to EQ and compress. If you have any further questions, please don’t hesitate. Thanks for watching! Best of luck!
Awesome video…
Hey Rizion!! Thank you very much!!
Jared Leto with headphones. Epic Video
Hi Mimino! Thanks for reaching out! Haha 😂. Thanks! I’m glad you enjoyed the video🤘🏻. Stay safe!
I got the Sennheiser mke 600 and the mke 200 as a bundle for under 300 bucks
Hi! Great review! I was wondering if this microphone was capable of connecting to a boom pole? If not, does it matter when filmmaking as that is the main reason I would be using it. If you could reply that would be highly appreciated!
Hi Alex! Thanks for reaching out! I’m so glad you liked the review. It can definitely be used on a boom pole. The only reason I wouldn’t use it as a boom mic is that there is no compatible shock mount that I have found. That means that the mic will pic up any and all handling noise from the operator. This is incredibly annoying and very hard - if not impossible- to fix in post. There is a ‘built in” shock mount...but it sucks😂 In my honest opinion, its best used for RUclips studios, on camera set-ups, and vlogging. I hope that answers your question😂. Thanks again and stay safe🤘🏻
Can you please test Mke 440 pls? Just like you did for this video? Thank you
nice test
Thank you very much!!
Hi, very good review. What you think about the Shure MV88 and this one?
Hi jatgs! Thank you very much! I would honestly go with the Shure MV88. It’s better in every way. Hope this helps!
dude, amazingly reviewed .. fantastic guidelines .. I just have one query .. where I live my house is all time surrounded by heavy traffic .. does this camera can reduce the noise of horns & motorbike firing .. atleast 50% I am expecting .. if not then please help me suggest me some good mic for indoor records .. thank u .. subscribed & best wishes
Hi DrugDaddy! Thanks for reaching out! I hear you loud and clear. I live on a busy road myself😂. This mic does a great job at cancelling out noise from the sides. It being a shotgun mic (kind of) it somewhat cancels out noise coming from the left and right side of the mic. The best indoor mic to have for loud environments is a short shotgun mic; sometimes referred to as a pencil mic. It reduces exterior noise and off- axis coloration (reverb or echo). But, those are significantly more expensive. With this mic, I would position it so the road (or the biggest sound source you wish to minimize) is on either the right or left side of the mic. That’s a lesser known trick. This is a great value mic. In your case, I would also keep the wind muff on. That will also help. Hope this helps! Thank you so much for subscribing and stay safe!
woww .. Bhai , thats really really😇 helpful points for me .. Bhai means Bro in Hindi language .. Thanks for ur valuable time .. I will share this video with my fellow RUclips creator friends .. God Bless
the low rumble that I hear in your outdoor recording... is that the sound of handling noise from the mic lacking rycote shock mount? like... are those noises made from the slight shakiness of your camera from holding it up?
Hi! Thanks for reaching out! Yes. That is handling noise plus the environment. It’s not as sophisticated as a higher end shotgun as it doesn’t have interference tubes( noise cancellation) on both sides of the mic. That would drastically increase the price. Not bad for $100, though😂. Hope this helps🤘🏻. Stay safe!
What's your camera settings in recording this video? Great audio i believe.
Hi Chess Explorer! Thanks for reaching out! I recorded in filmic pro. It was very bright and sunny, so I turned down the ISO as much as possible; 32 is the lowest I believe. I set it to 24 FPS and 1/48 shutter. I used the sunny preset for White Balance, which is about 5200K. I also recorded in LogV2. As for the mic, it does sound really good for the price. Hope this was helpful! Stay safe!
NICE REVIEW THANKS, can this be used with a usb c phone s22 ultra to be exact or is there another mic that's better for a mobile phone? thank you in advance
Hi Michael! Thank you so much for watching! I believe it can be connected with a third party cable. I personally use iPhone so I wouldn’t know. Sorry. Thanks again for watching🤘🏻
Any chance you could check how it sounds from behind? like same use case as Deity D4 Duo?
Hi Trung! Thanks for reaching out. Yes. I do that in the video. It sounds really good from behind as well. Thanks again for watching. Stay safe🤘🏻
Is it good enough for indie film maker? The design so interesting, mic and blimp become one. What about noise floor? I really need an answer. Thanks
Can we connect to such as zoom h5. I see it use trs cable, not xlr.
Hi Ronald! Thanks for reaching out! I would say yes. Absolutely! I would use it for Documentary filmmaking or scratch audio. I would not recommend using this on a boompole as it’s built in shock mount kinda sucks😂. It will pick up pretty much all of the handling noise. The noise floor is relatively low at this price point. You may be able to use a dongle or something to connect it to your zoom h5. I honestly don’t know about that one. I hope this helps!
Hi, I have 2 questions, I want to use it for short films, don't wanna use it on boom pole but on camera, will it sound atleast better than the in-camera build in mic?
2nd question: can you share your link or any others who shows how to remove the muffle sound as you said on this video?
Thank you, waiting patiently for your reply🙂
Hi Abregado! Thank you for reaching out! This will 100% sound better than the onboard camera mic. No question😂. As for the muffled sound, try giving a slight boost in the 2-4K range to open up the voice. Hope this helps🤘🏻
@@paraphaseentertainment9549 I see, thank you so much 👌
Zoom h1n or mke 200 for outdoor shoots.?.Not for vloging, just recording the environment of a forest or a beach...
Hi Kostas! Thanks for reaching out! I would definitely go with the mke200. The lower end zoom recorders have notoriously loud preamps. That means you’ll have to compensate with Noise Reduction software. That can get expensive, and native NLE plugins are usually really bad😂 The Sennheiser mics all have relatively low preamps, which means you’ll most likely not need to use Noise Reduction. But, if you do, you want need to use as much. I hope this helps🤘🏻 Thanks again for watching! Stay safe.
If I wanted to record myself playing acoustic guitar, I need the microphone to be close to the sound hole, but the actual iPhone video further away. Can this microphone do that?
Hi Randall!! Thank you so much for watching! I believe you could. You would just need a trs to trrs extension cable.

You mentioned outside you had a "dead cat" on it...which brand/model did you find to fit it ?
Hi Barry!
Thank you so much for reaching out! I believe I had the dead cat from the RODE VideoMicro. It also comes with one if I’m not mistaken, but it sucks😂 Hope this helps👍
Ian
Can we directly connect it with a laptop and start using for recording just like a Plug & Play microphone?
Hi theMachine astrix! Thank you for reaching out! I believe so. I haven’t done it myself. You would most likely go to System settings
*Edit* I just tried it in both the 3.5mm headphone jack, as well as the usb-c connector with a dongle. Neither worked. I’m sorry🤷🏻♂️
Do you get static noise? I bought MKE200 and I'm getting static noise when using the mic with camera or PC
Hi! Thanks for watching! I did not get static noise. What I did get is a lot of handling noise. The built in shock mount is terrible 😂. You may just have a defective model. I would exchange it for a new one.
I have a KRK subwoofer and the wind rumble is terrible.
Hi Gear Zen! Thanks for watching and reaching out! If you watched the entire video, I said that you will hear the wind (rumble) but will not get the plosives that are often associated with sub par microphone windscreens. Thanks again for watching. Stay safe!
Picked up one. Not happy with my Rode Micro.
Hi A Dawn! Thanks for reaching out! It is a great little mic. I just wish that it was a bit more directional and less prone to handling noise. Thanks again for watching🤘🏻. Stay safe!
Actually there is a pretty loud rumble from the wind.
But indoors on a stand and without processing the mic does sound pretty good.
Hey blank! Thanks for reaching out! Yeah. I agree. What this mic excels at it stopping the loud, plosive-like sounds from the wind. Not bad at all for $99. Still, I wouldn’t use it as my primary mic for professional work.
I am interested in buying sen 200
Can it capture bird noise from a certain distance, like 15 feet to 50 feet.
I mean the noise that I can hear from a distance.
Or
Rode video micro can?
Please help me.
Hi Tjt Stories! Thank you so much for reaching out! I’m also sorry for the delayed response. It’s been a crazy week😂. I would honestly go with the video micro for your situation. It’s more directional than the Sennheiser 200. It’s also $40 dollars cheaper. Hope this helps🤘🏻
@@paraphaseentertainment9549 thanks
Of course!!🤘🏻Anytime. Let me know if you have any other questions! Stay safe!!
@@paraphaseentertainment9549 ❤
Hi
I bought Sen MKE 200,
Upon initial usage
It capturing lots of handling noise even in very low movement.
While walking its not that good.
Is it like this or might be any issue with the product.
What's the possibile way to reduce handling noise.
I want to use it for walking vlog.
You have a great mc voice. I do hear a bit of background noise.
Hi Chris! Thank you so much! Yeah. You will get that with a mic in this price range. It has a bit more self noise than my Mkh 416 (a $1000 mic). It also has wider pick up pattern, so it will capture more of the environment. But, for $100, you can’t beat it😄. Thanks for reaching out! Stay safe!
Very true, I think it's also the design as it does have a smaller footprint then it's competitors. Great vid!
Definitely! Thanks again!
How well would this microphone work for recording a guitar?
Hi Mr. Willy Wonka! Thanks for reaching out. It would work very well. It has a focused cardioid pickup pattern that would work well for instruments.
@@paraphaseentertainment9549 thanks for the reply. And do you know how new this piece of equipment is or when exactly it was released?
@@MrWillyWonka of course! Anytime! I believe it released in 2020. It’s fairly new.
This one or the rode video mic go ii?
Hey Mister Love! This one for sure! Thank you so much for watching🤘🏻
This mic vs rode video micro
I’ll definitely do that soon! Thank you for reaching out! Stay safe!
Truth be told should have left it alone. Compression is WORSE after youtube processing.
Hi Cut The Check! Thanks for reaching out. While that may be true, it doesn’t mean you can just skimp out on compression. It’s a crucial part of the editing process. Sometimes you can get away with it, but not always. Thanks again for watching. Stay safe🤘🏻
@@paraphaseentertainment9549 hmm that's debatable. But then again so is my opinion so there is that! Thanks for taking constructive criticism. Many get so butthurt on here the minute someone gives an honest opinion.
That said...when working in film and television why do they always tell me "if they don't have to touch a thing in post we will hire you again?" Honest question. Now I feel you for anything buy that industry. Am curious because I'm a web developer building a browser compressor with the new Web Audio browser stuff. So I am far from anti-compression. Depends on situation and resources. Check out where we are heading (in browser) 👉🏾 developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/API/DynamicsCompressorNode
Thanks in advance! You gained a new sub.
@@devPunks Of course! I love having a humane debate with viewers. I appreciate it. I don’t know why so many creators are so sensitive about it. Maybe because they fell undermined?? Idk😂. As long as the person isn’t a complete a-hole then I am more than happy to converse. Even if our opinions differ. I’m no expert. I’m still in the learning process. Thanks again for reaching out and Subscribing. I really appreciate it👍. Break a leg on all of your endeavors! Stay safe!
4 minutes plus puts me off
You think it’s a shotgun mic?
Hi deepseadiver! Thanks for reaching out! Yes. Sennheiser themselves state it is an “on camera shotgun mic.” It’s definitely the weirdest, ugliest looking shotgun mic I’ve ever seen😂. But, that’s what they say. It’s a great starter mic. Thanks again for watching! Stay safe!🤘🏻
@@paraphaseentertainment9549 Where do they say it? Can you point me to that quote? Not on their website, not on any store product info. They don’t. Do you understand what shotgun mic is?
@@deepseadiver8191 Yes. I do understand. I have two professional Sennheiser shotgun mics. Do you understand what they are?😂
@@paraphaseentertainment9549 Yes, shotguns have an interference tube, that’s the essential part of the design. This one obviously does not. Not a shotgun, Sennheiser does NOT state it anywhere on their website at all. You completely made it up and don’t have a clue what you’re talking about.
@@deepseadiver8191 So much hostility over a microphone😂. Wow. Let me simplify this for you (since you clearly need it.) They call it a “Directional Condenser Microphone.” Along the same idea as a “Shotgun Microphone” that has a very narrow, DIRECTIONAL pick-up pattern. They don’t call this model a “shotgun” mic because that is what PROFESSIONALS use. They don’t want to cannibalize the sales of their premium mics; obviously. If you were at all professional, then you wouldn’t even have asked/started this argument. You would have known, and would also not try to skimp out on a VERY cheap mic.
Side note: If I were you, I’d work on how to properly start a conversation. Cuz...that ain’t it chief😂. Thanks for helping out with the algorithm though. This will definitely get the video to more viewers.
Right off the bat, the review is a failure: This is NOT a "shotgun" microphone. It is a cardioid condenser microphone. If you cannot even understand how the item works, please do not "review" it. It is misleading.
Well...two negative, a-hole comments out of 7,500 views means I’m doing something right. Thanks for your pointless contribution. It’s feeding the algorithm nicely👍
Actually it's a pre-polarized super cardioid. So right off the bat blah blah blubb...
