Daemon laughed in the funeral scene because Vaemond was talking shit to Rhaenyra in Valyrian. He was using Laena's death to talk about how pure blood was important, knowing full well that Lucerys (the current heir) has no Velaryon blood.
The strong boys have velaryon blood its not much but it's there

Guys I will only say this once, your channel is amazing and you should not fear to pause when you need to to discuss things. You have no idea how annoying it is in other channels where they never pause and instead talk over everything and literally lose super important dialogue and scenes, diminishing everything that is great in shows like this one. Of course pause, your discussions are always on point and very interesting, many of us are here for those discussions. Its not an issue at all !!! Be you!
I also like how they include as much dialogue as possible. So many reactors edit out critical conversations that it would be awesome to see their reactions to.

One of my favorite parts is when Vaemond is ranting and Daemon says lowly "say it" knowing he was going to take his head.
The main point of why Aegon(Alicent's son)is that way is the way he was raised. Viserys was an absent father, always sick amd Aegon being the first born son is expected to be heir but was never named, so he grew with the feeling of being a disappointment and all.
Corlys didn't want Baela to inherit Driftmark because she is not a Velaryon by name, she is a Targaryen.
And, well, she's a girl. Knives will come out even for her. Safer to give it to a Velarion boy. Someone he acknowledges as his grandson.

@GustavoCardoso95 I get so frustrated with this. (Not you lol) Sure, Baela.and Raena are Targaryen, but they have Velaryon blood through their mother. They are set to marry Velaryons. Their children will have Velaryon blood through their mothers and Velaryon names through their fathers. When Ned Stark and Catlyn Tully married, their children were Stark in name and half Tully by blood. If the genders had been reversed, they would be Tully in name and half Stark by blood. Either way, they are each half of their parents. As long as the bloodline circles back to the name, who cares? Get with the program, Corlys.

Episode 8 is one of the best episodes in the GOT universe, imo. RIP King Viserys. Paddy C - you deserved an Emmy for this one.
Paddy Consadine deserved an Emmy for that scene alone, let alone for his overall performance as Viserys. It's a travesty that he didn't even get a nomination. The overall casting and acting in this series (as well as GoT) is magnificent.
Agree he steals every scene and especially this, which for me is one of the best scenes in all GoT.
Vicserys walking up to the throne in that feeble state, along with Daemon helping him is one of my favorite moments in TV history
The king’s last breath, “no more, no more, my love” is such a powerful scene. I wonder if dying people do see their passed loved ones before they go. I hope it’s true, it would be comforting for sure.
Daemon and Rhaenyra named their sons after his two brothers. Her father/his brother King Viserys and his little brother who died as a baby but was named Aegon.
Their wedding was “werid” because it was an Old traditional Valyrian wedding
The part where Daemon helps Viserys onto the throne and places the crown back on his head was unscripted. During one of the takes, the crown did fall off of his head and Matt Smith bent down to pick up the prop and when he stood back up, a light bulb went off in the director's head (and other members of the crew as well). So they did another take and made it deliberate that the crown fall off and have Viserys try to wave the person away only to turn and see that it was Daemon that was helping him and accepting his help. Because despite all their differences, and spats with one another, the brothers still truly loved each other.

Damon's eldest daughter, Baela is a ward at Driftmark. The younger daughter, Reina is at Dragonstone with Damon. Aegon married his sister, Helena.
Paddy Consadine as Viscerys was amazing in this episode. For most of the season, I wondered why an actor of his caliber was wasting his talent on a weak role. Then this episode happened, and he OWNED it. I cried for him.
"Get on in there Daemon. Thata a boy." That took me out. 😂😂😂
The reason Daemon was laughing at Laena's funeral is because of what Vaemond was saying about "the true blood of House Velaryon." He was indicating that Rhaenyra's sons are bastards so Daemon laughed to keep the attention off of them.
Pay attention to Alicent's daughter, Helaena. She is a Targaryen dreamer and many of her words are prophetic. When Alicent told Aemond that he would have a dragon one day. She said "He'll have to close an eye."
Baela's dragon is named Moondancer. Rhaena is the one who doesn't have a dragon yet.
Prince Aemond must be sharply questioned. Rhaenyra was not referring to a stern talking to, she was implying torture, if necessary.

Aemond got jumped first, the small girl pushed him and so he pushed her back, he got punch and so he punched back.
You can't steal a dragon, a dragon decides if it wants you or not, he tried and Vhagar choose him, fair and square.
Aemond was wrong in how he handled that situation. You’re right, you can’t steal a dragon and vaygar let Aemond claim her however, what happened between those other kids and Eman was wrong she hit girls. He threatened those children with a rock and said he would kill them. So Jay is pulling the knife when his little brother was threatened with his life makes sense. Those kids were trained to fight, so when his little brothers life was threatened, he pulled the knife. It just so happens. He dropped it and then when things turned around and he threw the dirt in a man’s face, lucerys brought the knife up and cut Aemonds Ave. However, it was Aemond threatening lives first, so the fact that he got hurt I think had more to do with the fact that he was threatening to kill people, and he had a rock in his hand so please do not try to make him sound like some fucking innocent

They name their kids Aegon over and over again because it's a political move. Like in british royal lines they always named their sons "henry". It's a way of saying "Hey, this kid is going to be king"

Brilliant reaction as always, guys! I feel like I have to weigh in your observation on Rhaenyra, and the change in her. For me, it's the reason I love Rhaenyra. She became a mother. When she was young, I couldn't picture it. I don't think she could. She wanted a wild, free life. Then Jace was born, and everything changed for her. Unlike Alicent, her kids were born out of love, not duty. And she pours her love back into them. She's devoted, and so sweet with her kids. Alicent is cold. Her kids are, like, there. Pawns on a chess board. The way she was used by Otto. Vicerys loved Rhaenyra, and she loves her children in return. Otto didn't love Alicent, and she can't love her own kids. So, that's why I'm Team Black, and can't find any connection to the Greens. They are a cold, loveless family. They have the sweetest, most special daughter in Helaena, and they just ignore, or mock her. Rhaenyra has my heart because she's a real mother.

Mrs October is so observant. Ive seen this ep multiple times and didn't even think about the fact Alicent was on his blindside. 🤯
The conversation between Rhae and Daemon on the beach is why I disagree with people who say he groomed her. The night in the brothel was the first time he acted in a sexual way around her, and he did it to destroy her reputation. He realized in that moment he had feelings for her and would've married her if allowed - and he didn't 'despoil' her either. And she was 17, a full adult in Westerosi standards and by a lot of modern standards. Once she was married, he married and moved far away, removing himself from temptation, knowing that she would be looking for a man to warm her bed since Laenor wouldn't be. Now she's even more of an adult. Targaryens believe they have soulmates, and this pairing would be one, where they can't resist each other, even when being together is dangerous or not in their best interest. In the first two episodes, I didn't see evidence of romantic interest or even lust, I saw platonic attraction of two soulmates. I know people will disagree with me, call me a Daemon simp or whatever, but that's my opinion. For the record, I enjoy Daemon as a character because he brings chaos to the story, but I don't always agree with his actions.

More importantly he wanted everyone to think she wasn't a virgin so Viserys would have no choice but to let him marry her. Why do you think he removed her hat before entering the brothel?
Please repeat the soul mate comment after episode 10. There are no "soul mates" in Westeros. That is a modern concept in our world, not theirs.
This scene with Viserys gets me every time. World class acting and such a great moment.

Laenor died in the book. The show is really afraid to make the audience hate Rhaenrya.
Worth noting, because Laenor is alive, Seasmoke won't be able to bond with another rider.
What you have to keep in mind is that the book in question "Fire and Blood" was framed as a history book written by a Maester based on the written accounts of a couple of Maesters and Septons (and one court fool) that were generally second, or third hand accounts written long after the events took place. The story being presented in the series has contained elements of many of the conflicting accounts from those writings. GRRM is fond of using the "unreliable narrator" in his novels, giving a point of view based on limited information and personal bias. And it's not unreasonable to think that the Maesters and Septons, hailing from the Citadel and Faith of the Seven, both headquartered in Old Town with close ties to the Hightowers, might be shading their narratives to favor the version most favorable to the Hightowers.

I think the implications of the scene where Rhaenyra and Laenor talk about "trying" to have children is that Laenor might be infertile. Like they tried multiple times but even after "finishing", Rhaenyra never got pregnant so they eventually stopped.
Looking at Jace's age she must have hooked with Harwin like 3 months into marriage.
Imagine if Viserys overruled Alicent and married Jace and Helaena. Their kids would have Targaryen blood as well as Hightower blood. Otto would not press to have Aegon as heir if his great grandson was next in line to be king.
I've loved Paddy Considine ever since I saw him in the series "The Suspicions of Mr Whicher." This episode just confirms that. Great actor.

Notice back in episode 6 when Alicent was talking to Haelena and Aemond in that one scene, Alicent I think said that he’ll eventually get a dragon then Haelena whispers that he’ll have to close an eye for one or something like that. Haelena can see bits of the future. Gotta pay attention to every word she says as everything she says has some sort of meaning
The way Vhagar flew, he was like ok, boy, hop on in let's see if you can't fall down, it was like testing Aemond if he was worthy you know what I'm saying?

about the daemon laughing at the funeral, he did it to take everyone's attention away from rhaenyra and her children, as while vaemond was speaking he was indirectly calling her children bastards.
Still talking about ep 7, this ep only showed how jealous Alicent was when it came to Rhaenyra. Rhaenyra could do "what she wanted" and nothing would touch her or the love that Viserys has for her, something she doesn't have: paternal love.
In Denmark we have a constitutional king (Margrethe the II abdicated the 14. january) most danes love the royal house, I am sure there areother kingdoms where they would like a republic instead tho.
These two episodes are just fire.

I agree that this show is as good as GOT. It’s different and that makes it hard to compare them, but HotD is beautiful and the acting top tier. HotD is brilliant as is GOT.
Love watching you guys react to the GOT shows. Your pauses are ok don't worry about them; with this series you have to take a moment sometimes.
In the book's, they actually do kill Laenor which shows that Rhaenrya and Daemon are just as bad as Alicent but they're trying to portray the Blacks as the good guys which is understandable. But it's against Martin's vision as he writes Grey Charecters.
George can do as he pleases with his story, and he now has multiple times sold the rights to his works for use in television. He is the one who ultimately causes the awful ending of GoT and any changes to his stories are made possible because of himself.
If he would have set in the contract to have the final say on everything, zero "bad" changes to the story would have been made.
If he cared enough about his vision on his own characters, he would have made sure nothing could harm that vision. It happening once as a mistake with GoT i can understand, but that excuse can't be made this second time
Aemond is just a prince as Aegon is. If you are the child or grandchild of the king or the child of the princess heir to the throne you are princes.
Alicent hugged her daughter because remember she is Aegon's sister-wife. Aegon had just cheated on her.

No, regardless of Laenor being alive, They fucked the Velaryions anyway. If he comes back it makes Rhaenyra's marriage with Daemon illegitimate, which already is, and the Velaryons still lost their only heir. Daemon and Rhaenyra already made Corlys and Rhaenys grieve their son's death and they are only covering for their own interests.

you dont need a dragons egg in your cradle to bond with them, vhagar herself has had 4 riders and none of them had her egg in their cradle, viserys rode balerion before he died of old age and i can assure you viserys didnt have that egg over 200 years ago, pretty much none of these characters had the egg in their cradle aside from the really young ones

There was no reason for Alicent walking away from viserys, she just put him to bed and left. She didn't know he was going to die.
Don't u think if Viserys would have let Damon and Raynera get married in episode 4 before she got with Strong, they would have had Aegon first and named him heir and everyone would have expected it

The fact that Allison got away with drawing blood on the heir to the throne without getting exiled, imprisoned or beheaded shocks the hell out of me. In any other medieval situation if someone drew blood on the heir to the throne, it means exile imprisonment, or you’re dying. It is the same reason. I do not understand how Kristen got away with killing someone and assaulting laenor who was the heir to the throne at that point and he did draw blood on him by hitting him multiple times
Regarding the names being the same, the book is even more confusing. The story moves really fast and and there's dozens of more characters to keep track of.
Plus everybody has the same name as their grandfather or grandmother. So it's so hard to keep track of what's happening and which Aegon the book is taking about.
