    LOCATION: 8214 W. Osborn Road
    AREA/CITY: Phoenix
    DETAILS:
Firefighters have achieved fire control on an early morning house fire in west Phoenix.
Fire crews from Phoenix, Glendale, Avondale and Tolleson were called out just before 6:00am this morning for reports of fire coming from the roof of a two story home near 83rd Ave and Osborn. As fire companies arrived on scene they were met with heavy fire conditions showing from the residence. Firefighters quickly deployed multiple hoselines to attack the large flames on the exterior and make access into the house to search for potential victims. A first alarm was requested by command due to concerns of potential spread to nearby occupancies. Crews were able to get quick knockdown of the large flames which prevented the fire from extending into those surrounding structures.
Early reports suggested this home has been vacant for an extended amount of time. Currently there are no reports of injuries or displacements. The community assistance program is enroute to provide support if needed. Fire investigators are on scene looking into what caused the fire.

After seeing hundreds of firefighting videos on RUclips, many fire departments could take lessons from the Phoenix Fire Dept., they were very fast and effective in knocking down this large fire and protecting other structures. Seldom see it done this well and organized, everyone had a job and knew exactly what to do. PFD did an absolutely superb job!!

This crew was on the ball... First line in the front door ~60 seconds to check for potential occupants. Three additional lines in service at about 60 second intervals made short work of the job.

All about the use of the deck gun. Big fire needs big water. Some departments would have drenched that A side with the deck gun. A tool not often used and this situation called out for it to start the fire attack.

Do you know how experienced, profesional firefighters spot the phonies who have never worked an actual fire?
Look for the ones saying... "They should have used a deck gun" 🤣

@@virgilhilts3924 Which is why all these US FDs equip their engines with deck guns: they are professionals to a man, so they already know they will never use them. Contrast that with Europe, where deck guns are a rarity.

That's why when we have a big fire we deploy the 2.5" crosslay along with a 1.75 inch backup line. 2.5" does the heavy hitting, then we mop up with the 1.75" and pull additional 1.75" lines as necessary once the bulk of the work has been done by the 2.5".

Not sure what the point was of that initial first floor interior attack with a single line, while the second floor was ablaze from one end to the other. How about protecting the exposures first? Or using a deck gun?

@@virgilhilts3924 ehhhh...I agree with him.....Seeing the video, there was no reason to have an 1 3/4" line to the bottom floor and going interior....there was so much fire on the top floor, a duece and a half or a deck gun would have done more good protecting the exposure....that building was a total loss when they pulled up.

Thus proving you know nothing about firefighting.
The reason they went in was to check the survivable space for potential victims... which are ALWAYS the priority.
As for the deck gun comment... Seriously... Just stop... You're only embarassing yourself.
