I can’t wait till u both watch the 2019 MMA (Melon Music Awards) performance. It’s almost 35 mins of them performing during the music show…this was the dance practice for the finale from this show. We’ve been begging Big Hit for live concert/show albums because the mixes they do during concerts/shows are just soooo good! They also won all 4 desangs (biggest prize) during this award show. Did you recognize the beat change? It was a re-worked version of N.O that you reacted to previously. 😄 The entire Dionysus part of the performance consists of re-worked versions of their songs put into the context of the greek gods of Olympus. It's a true masterpiece.
If you choose to watch the performance, a few things are good to know about Dionysus: He was the god of abundance, wine and performing arts. (Weird mix, I know. But it gets weirder... 😅). He was born twice; first taken from his dying human mother's womb (Zeus' wife Hera killed her out of jealousy) and his father Zeus then carried him to term in his leg. He was known for his lavish parties where all were equal, kings and slaves alike. The parties started out with huge processions for all, including his female followers who wore crowns of ivy and carried baskets of abundance. Dionysus himself carried the staff of abundance named Thyrsus and a magic crystal wine glass and he rode either a jaguar or one of the mythical horses from Zeus' stables. He was looked down on and shone by the other gods because he was half human.
To put it into BTS context: BTS are performing artists and like Dionysus born twice in the sense that they started as Kpop idols (who are actually looked down on in Korea as simply performing what's handed to them) but have been reborn as worldwide recognized artists. And like Dionysus BTS themselves were shone by those in power (still are in many ways - you should check out XCeleste's BTS Hardships 2013-2021 and Boracity Magazine's videos on BTS vs different entities in the industry, like BTS vs Spotify or BTS vs radio) because they're not from the "Big 3" Kpop companies. They're outsiders who despite all odds rose to claim their rightful place at the top, just like Dionysus.
It's honestly an epic performance and the more you deep dive into their choice of songs for the entire performance the more mindblowing it gets. But even without doing that it's still an amazing performance as is and even though I can't imagine a western award show ever handing them the stage for 40 minutes, this is what happens when you do..... 😂👍

Personally, I don't think you have to listen to the songs included in this award show, you already heard a lot of snippets of other songs in Taylors's video. Anyway, I'm sure you'll enjoy their performance, they always turn them into a concert.

Thank you so much for recognising all the different people who contribute to a performance. BTS are incredible, but they themselves never forget the contributions of the people who they work with. What I see when I watch this is not only the amazing dance skills but also the absolute reliance on those who are reorganising the set and making sure it is safe. I suspect that this is actually the role of other dancers here. BTW, Hobi never refers to them as backup dancers, but simply as dancers or the dance team. I prefer that too - though I think most artists use the term 'backup dancer' to differentiate from the 'main' performer. Not BTS though. Absolute trust. They do have a small corps if regular dancers who we can all recognise and know well, but for this they have brought in a larger number, but they are all clearly very professional. we love them. And yes, it is better live!
I wish ppl wouldn’t ask reactors to do this so early in their journey. Maybe it’s just me that likes to build up to it. 😅 Love your reaction though 💜

Hi dears. 68yo Army here again. How are my two favorite BTS reactors doing today? This was actually a very low energy performance compared to the live performance. As stated previously by Army...you need to watch 2019 MMA BTS performance. It's a long one (38 mins) but a must see for BTS reactors. Hurry back, my sweet dears.

if you like the dance practices you may enjoy doing the song/mv and then either a live or dance practice right after. You often cant see much of the amazing choreo in the MV. We will watch, its never too long lol 💜

oh no spoiler video 😅 for mma 2019 bts performance. now you have to watch it!
not the best way to start dance practices but okay. this is just a practice video for one song of their MMA 2019 LIVE award show performance. I do not know who recommended this but since you do not know the context of the song or what it actually is, I don't think you "feel" it. the LIVE performance is the one you should watch... they performed multiple songs and it was 30 minutes long. Dionysus was the last song in that performance. you are new to BTS so you would also not know any of the other songs in the LIVE performance.
maybe start chronologically to be familiar with their discography?
