"I'm done explaining myself" has got to be one of the funniest lines in the series. Looks like we're still done with the "the money is for my family" line, that's kind of refreshing.

At this point, this show goes straight "Scarface"!!!! The season finale of season 4 is insane. It kicks off season 5 which is by far the best season of the show. You are in for a WILD RIDE!!!!!
I never really understood Walt's thinking in this episode. He was planning to disappear with his family because Gus said that he was going to take out Hank, and that if Walt attempted to interfere, Gus would retaliate by offing Walt and his entire family. But it seems like Walt was planning on leaving Hank high and dry anyway. That phone call to the DEA would have maybe protected Hank for a short time, but Walt would have known full well that Gus would have gotten to Hank eventually. And probably sooner rather than later. So if Walt was planning on leaving Hank out to dry anyway... then why even bother trying to interfere with Gus's plans? If Walt were to do nothing, then he and his family theoretically would have been fine (at least for a while - him having to leave wouldn't have been an urgent matter). So since calling the DEA is almost the same as doing nothing, then why even bother...?
Gus' only reason for leaving Walt alive was Jesse not being okay with it. Walt was cocky in the desert, but him being safe is never a guarantee. From that point forward Walter was planning to kill Gus by any means, and when Gus caught onto that, he was ready to kill Walter too. (and tried to) And the day he got threathened was also the first day he actually asked for the dissapearer guy contact from Saul, so after that might aswell go ahead and use it.
Yes and no he wasn't leaving Hank high and dry he was interfering by calling the DEA for his protection which means that Gus will not be able to get to him for a while and then he was most likely going to plan something else to keep interfering to try to make sure that Hank stay safe but he needed to disappear because Gus would have known that he interfered and go straight for his family so he needed to hide he most likely would have kept in touch with Saul for assistance on helping to protect Hank, maybe that is my guess. But then he came up with a different plan
