He didn't do this alone. He gave power to those just as evil as himself.

Can you imagine working in a field on your hands and knees in 94° heat with 90% humidity while men with guns watch over you knowing that you will be in a "meeting" until 3am after your 12 hour day all the while listening to speakers blare this nonsense? I hope in Hell he's getting a dose of his own medicine.

The whole “suicide prevention” stuff he starts talking about around the 4:30 mark is beyond ironic.
He’s thinking, “You can’t kill yourself, that’s my job.”
What a situation these people found themselves in. It’s sad

What a hypocritical, raving lunatic he was; not even sure of his own beliefs, seemingly running Jonestown on his daily whims and moods. Using guilt on people so broken and miserable by his insanity that they'd consider taking their lives, only to turn around and force them to do that very thing soon after because some dared to take the offer to leave.

Yes. He was a master manipulator.

He knew it was the beginning to the end when they left. That’s why.

Actually Jones' plan was to spend a great deal of time in Georgetown probably seeing himself as El Presidente', Burnham tricked him into being in the middle of nowhere but Grace Stoens lawsuit assured that he was a prisoner there.

Got more coming. I have recordings of what Jones called "White Nights" where he stirred up the people of Jonestown in a frenzy. Jones sounds more insane in these recordings than any of the others. In this one I just uploaded he sounds lucid and even compassionate and reasonable. But during one of these white night sessions he really goes off.

Just about done with The Road to Jonestown, I always knew about Jim Jones story but the book oh my heart hurts for the lives lost. It hurts. Thank you for these uploads. Most definitely continuing to put more pieces together for me as I research the tragedy that is Jonestown.

I was 8 when it happened. Being raised by my grandparents they took time to explain to me what happened and how.
It's happening again. They are running after and holding down people in India forcing the jab.

The man was a psychotic lunatic fueled by drugs. He rambles endlessly, switching personality from one speech to the other. I felt sorry for those who wanted to escape, but were isolated, trapped by fear, overworked, and lack of sleep.

  • @stephenlowe8158

He just made up shit as he went. These people were so isolated they didn't know he was lying. He could say the most outlandish things and they would never know if it was true. This man murdered those people.

Its truly amazing that Jim Jones rambles on endlessly instilling fear and uncertainty on his followers. I must admit he could have used his excellent rhetorical skills to make a grand world. Instead he allowed his ego to take over his mind.

Jones one minute wants people to smile and encourage people to do well. The next minute, he is goating people to snitch on their fellow neighbors.

People wonder how these things start. Very simple. Example. Wife gets up early Sunday morning to cook for pastor on the name of Hospitality committee, while her family is unfed. Church trips but never family vacation. Time control by leadership.Extraordinary demands for cash. Isolation physically and emotionally by keeping people busy.

It is ironic how he initially punished those who wanted to commit suicide early. In the end Jones forced his congregation to commit suicide with guns pointed at them.

No connection personally - just a fascination with Religion in general. Even though Jones was a Marxist/Socialist his group still could qualify as a quasi-spiritual organization. Jonestown is so fascinating on so many levels. Tomorrow I am going to upload a Entertainment night recording of the people of Jonestown. I also have a tape where they discuss the possibility to move to the Soviet Union.

Hia speech here is pretty much the opposite of the death tape. Trying to convince everyone NOT to commit suicide, just a few weeks before he made them.

He always knew this would be the ending of his organization. Nobody was ever to leave him as he viewed them as an extension of himself. Once the people left with the congressman (there was about a dozen more who wanted to leave on the final day but the congressman could not process their documentation as he had to leave, for his own safety, Jonestown after being attacked by Ujara) Jones realized the curtain had been pulled and what was going to follow was more congressmen once those who defected confirmed that what was being said by the Concerned Relatives was true all along. In Jones' eyes, if he was not to have his entire flock no one else would. He thought that it was best to have them dead than to let anyone else leave Jonestown.
