- This is a recording of a live digital event which took place on Thursday 23 September, 6-7 PM, as part of the first Art History Festival 2021.
Against all odds, American architect Louis Kahn designed a dazzling parliamentary complex in newly independent war-torn Bangladesh. Art historian and filmmaker Sundaram Tagore, who spent seven years following in Kahn’s footsteps exploring the wealth of architectural forms-from Rome to India-that inspired his achievement, will talk about the aesthetic and philosophical impact of these epic buildings, and show his documentary Louis Kahn’s Tiger City.
Sundaram Tagore is a Calcutta-born Oxford-educated art historian, gallerist, and an award-winning filmmaker.
People who love Lou loved this ..thank you thank you..
Superb documentary, amazing story, well done. Thank you.
To be honest Kahn in brick makes a lot more sense to me than Kahn in concrete. I love the concrete ties under the arches 30:48 which is quite a classical thing to do except they resolve structurally instead of 2 elements that collide, as you might see in Michelangelo's work.
Thank you
Very good interview let me know a lot about kahn

Simply outstanding. I’ve done over 1000 paintings and designed and built some nice things but this is up there with Beethoven and DaVinci
Lovely documentary
Wow
İyi ki Louis'i tanımışım.
After watching this 5 times my only regret is I was not with you. One day you will cover my buildings and art. Indians Rock!!! 7 years ago I watched My Architect… I was hooked. This ups the Ante! In fact Nathan is tears with joy. Let Nathan and anyone else like us who are “fatherless” take heart. The trade off of dysfunctional family is the most HarmoniousFamily the world has ever known . Ecumenical!!!!
Best video ever best building ever
