Interesting about AUTO campaigns. I have had same luck on AUTO but running individual ad groups for different products inside the same auto campaign. But if you add all 800 ASINs to an AUTO campaign inside 1 ad group, how do you differentiate between ASIN 1 and ASIN 2 etc which keywords or ASINs, if you had sales for certain keywords to use inside your exact or phrase match campaigns? Also you said "build foundation for each parent" but parent ASINs are not something that you can advertise. You mean you group all children in an parent name campaign?
Correct, you're not able to differentiate the sales for each ad inside the catch-all campaigns. The goal here is to just get profitable sales thanks to the low CPC "Build the foundation for each parent" - yes correct, group all children in a parent name campaign!

How can we get such low keyword bids
As always, it depends on the niche, so this niche has a very low CPC because of the high average order value. I hope it helps :)
