Came back to see what my iLX-007 can do as I’m thinking of replacing it and moving it to my Mum-in-law’s Yaris. Must be one of the very first videos I watched from Dean and Fernando all those years (six!) ago. Kinda forgotten Fernando used to translate back then!
I have a question if I may. I have a 2012 Honda Pilot EX and I want to replace the stereo. I read that a lot of aftermarket double din wouldn’t work because of the shape of the back of the factory radio. I figured since this is shorter than most, it’ll fit. Have you guys ever done so on a Pilot, and can I retain the back up camera, the usb and auxiliary input as well as the car’s built in microphone. Thank you!
Fernando.. you’ve got to be the most minimalist translator I’ve ever heard. But, thank god I’m an English speaker 🤣 otherwise I’d be lost son. Good job to the both of you though.
I got this installed my challenger and really like it. However, I am having a difficult time with Siri understanding my words when texting. Perhaps the microphone problem (?)
Perhaps, does she work for you when not using the Alpine radio? If so the Mic might need to be moved closer to you. WE have good luck mounting the Mic by the mirror or the A pillar, however if you are tall it may need to be moved closer to you. To test the distance move closer to the Mic and see if she works better, then try to find a spot about that same distance and remount the Mic. If none of this works try a new Mic, good luck. Thanks
Hi guys, thank you for your videos, I have a question or on other words I need help, 1st. I ilx-007, can I plug a Bluetooth into the auxiliary input behind it to work? 🙈🙈🙈 2cond. I have ine-w940, what dashboard do I need to fit into a 2009 Nissan xterra? Thank you very much, I'll wait for your reply, HI Fernando 👋
Paul Hodge OK first go to alpine-usa.com and goto the iLx-007 page. Goto the specifications tab once open go to the documents and open the owners manual. On page 30 of the owners manual it will give you a pin configuration diagram, from there we made our own piece. We also had to use the micro bypass on the parking brake wire for video in motion.
I went through the section of settings and found out that there is a numerical option for microphone. Level. Can you explain what is this? Thank you very much!
Ok here we go the first adjustment is Siri Microphone Effect- this turns on and off the echo cancellation/ noise reduction ( factory is on) Second Output Speaker- this is what speaker you want to here Siri talk from. Third Microphone Level -this allows you to I just the microphone level between 11 and 1, the factory is set to 5. The setting cannot be adjusted during a phone call. Adjust the setting before placing a call. Hope this gets it for you, thanks
Ryan Duggins Yes that would work, but you would have to still make your own 4-pole mini av. we are testing the iSimple ISHD01(rca to Hdmi)and it works great for this (video soon) the only problem is the Image Quality is ok, kind of looks like VHS. thanks
I am putting this in a 2009 Honda CRV. What else will I have to buy in addition to the unit to get it to work? Also, my car already has an aux input located in the middle of the two seats, is there a way I can connect that to this radio?
You will need the Bestkits BKHONK817 dash kit, Bha1722 wire harness, and the BAA28 antenna adapters. You will have to hard wire the Aux Cable into the Factory plug. It can be done with a multi meter and cutting aux cable in half. Plug the cut cable into the factory aux and meter betting the factory plug and the cable. When you get continuity connect the 2 wires together, repeat until you have all 3. Hope the this helps.
It is a couple of video we did, so I will save you some time. Get the Kenwood Ca-C3av cable to plug into the back of the radio. Then get the iSimple Medialinx cable, HDMI cable, and an Apple Lightning to HDMI cable. If you want to see it in action the video is on the iSimple video page under Medialinx. Thank you for the question.
Hi thank you for asking, but sadly no video feature in Carplay. You can get video into the Alpine iLx 007 though the AUX input and a iSimple Medialinx, we have a video on it. Hope this helps.
hi guys. I'm addicted to your videos, and thank you for taking the time to review these units.. i've bee planning to get a DD for a while not, and your videos def lay out all the info consumers really need. i'd like to take the opportunity to offer you some advise: for the love of God, PLEASE!!, stop Fernando from "translating" your commentary... is distracting, inaccurate, and a true offense to the spanish speaking population watching your channel.. really. now, I like Fernando.. you guys make a great team, and I hope he gets more screen time teaching us n00bs.
Can you connect a headrest screen to this unit I know it's pointless but I have 2014 maxima and I have the amber screen up top that's pointless I wanna modify and pretty much have like to screens showing the alpines ils 007 Apple screen
Sorry there is no video output on this radio. However if you are trying to get video into it using the aux input and the iSimple Medialinx you could Y it for to a second screen. We have a video of the Medialinx hook up to the ilx007. Thank you for the question.
Yeah that sucks that Pandora has not updated their app for CarPlay, you can still launch it from your phone and use it. It will do track up and down. Enjoy your new toy!
for Carplay they are both the same, however if you don't want to alway plug in your phone then thePioneer has bluetooth. The Pioneer also has an HDMI if your going to video.
What are you trying to get it to do? Video from a phone? If so do what we did in this video it is the same for the Alpine ruclips.net/video/j4I3iGR3498/видео.html
Yes it will, Metraonline.com has 2 kits for this car. The first kit replaces the AC controls 99-7803g. The second mounts below the factory radio 99-7862. We have done them both and they look good, it's all about the money. Thank you for the question.
Funny you should ask, that question was asked a lot this week. This is what I have come up with to answer it. If you want to do video from you iPhone go with the Pioneer. The Pioneer has an HDMI input and that is what you need to get video from your iPhone. If you are only going to do CarPlay go with the Alpine. The Alpine has a 7" screen , so you get a bigger display. They both have great sound capabilities, it is more about the features. Thanks
They do make a dash kit for your car, it is a Connects2 CT23MB19. Nobody lists a wiring harness though. You may have to bypass the factory amp and add an aftermarket amp. Thank you for the question.
That does look like the kit. I will warn you that companies kits are not always perfect, but we use them and make them work. Also they are the only game in town. Let me know how goes.
You can use any music app and have basic track up and down but no playlist search. Only CarPlay approved music apps give you full control, and they are adding new ones all the time. Apple has a list on their CarPlay home page if you want to check its out. Hope this helps
12345qwert911 there is a camera wire harness that the radio comes with. It has the camera inputs on to plug into. Alpine has a full line of cameras that are all very nice. We also like the PAC cameras. With cameras you get what you pay for, so if you don't like to do things twice spend the money.
I am seriously debating getting the iLX007. Currently I have the Kenwood DNX570HD and am completely disappointed with the iPhone integration. No album art over bluetooth or pandora, and the head unit doesnt even attempt to replace the blank space where the album art would be with a stock photo, or even a kenwood logo.. only thing there is an offset background which honestly looks generic and unprofessional. *rant over* I really like that this unit is specifically designed for iPhones, however, if you are not within cell signal range (i.e. up in the mountains, etc - this will be going in my Jeep Wrangler), it seems like my only option with the Alpine would be AM/FM or iPod. Thats fine and all, but what about navigation? If you are outside of cell-signal, no navigation, correct? And also, wouldn't this thing just chew up your data plan? If anyone has this device and used it for a few months please let me know how it has affected your bill or if there are specific functions you miss (i.e. HD and XM Radio). Also I've found some info (credible? Not sure but it does reference the FCC) that the Alpine iLX 007 has a wifi/bluetooth chipset built in, just not activated, with the assumption that once Apple releases the functionality (iOS 9?) that it will activate at that point with a firmware update. Here is the article with links and pics. Has anyone found this to be true?? If so I would buy this unit now. Otherwise I would almost wait until iOS 9 releases. www.reddit.com/r/CarPlay/comments/2njdn1/after_living_with_carplay_for_a_couple_months_im/cmtahjg Thanks!
Couple things to think about, the ilx007 currently does not have Bluetooth. You have to plug in your phone to use every service ( music, phone calls, navigation). If you are into FM, Alpine has the most basic display around, it is a black screen with very small numbers and they are hard to see. You are correct about the navigation, no service no navigation. None of our customers have said any thing about increased data costs. As for ios9 Alpine is not talking. Thanks
There's no way I'm taking my iPhone out of its battery pack and plugging in a Lightning cable EVERY time I get into my car. This is useless to me until it's wireless.
For CarPlay they are the same. If you are only interested in that, go for the bigger screened Alpine.. If you want to do screen sharing( watch movies), Waze, front camera, or listen to the radio you might want to look at the Pioneer.
perfect, i need a great audio. another question... the pioneer appradio 4 comes with adapter to steering wheel to hyundai santa fe 2011? or i need buy that?
this radio is crap! what about being able to use an android phone? there is no i in team so the iphone is in a wack class of its own. other alpine radios work with android and I phones.... through an app using Bluetooth... not this one... whyyyyyyy!?!?!!!!
Unfortunately this radio came out before Android Auto was available. Alpine was not prepared for either service and rushed to make something to get out. Android Auto has been a bit slow taking off, but I think you will see something. Thanks for watching

Pritom Paul I don't know but we will give it a try Friday when we get back to work

HI Fernando 👋
Five Star Car Stereo What did you have to do to get the 3.5mm to A/V cable to work?
Paul Hodge OK first go to alpine-usa.com and goto the iLx-007 page. Goto the specifications tab once open go to the documents and open the owners manual. On page 30 of the owners manual it will give you a pin configuration diagram, from there we made our own piece. We also had to use the micro bypass on the parking brake wire for video in motion.
Can you watch videos like through you tube?
this may be a dumb question, but does it connect to your car speakers or do the audio come straight from the device?
It connects to your car speakers, it has a 50 watt by amplifier build in. Thank you for the question.
Can you upload a imagine for the background of the stereo ?
I went through the section of settings and found out that there is a numerical option for microphone. Level. Can you explain what is this? Thank you very much!

How about a 4-pole mini AV plug to 3-RCA, HDMI to RCA converter, 120V adapter, and an Apple TV?
Ryan Duggins Yes that would work, but you would have to still make your own 4-pole mini av. we are testing the iSimple ISHD01(rca to Hdmi)and it works great for this (video soon) the only problem is the Image Quality is ok, kind of looks like VHS. thanks
Can i use RUE-4190 (IR remote) with this unit?
Can’t find the next video for WiFi video any help

Would u put the link of the one u showing how to watch videos and mirror the iPhone?

Hi, in your opinion, which unit is the best to operate carplay? in terms of visual crispy screen resolution and scrolling/touch screen response?
The Pioneer App Radio or the AVIC 8100/8200 NEX
are you able to watch videos/movies on car play or any other option to do so ?
Hi thank you for asking, but sadly no video feature in Carplay. You can get video into the Alpine iLx 007 though the AUX input and a iSimple Medialinx, we have a video on it. Hope this helps.

Thank you for watching, we have stop the translation in our new videos. It was taking to much time and way to hard to get it right. Thanks again
Is this compatible with "on-the-wheel" volume and scan buttons? Is there a way to tap siri on the steering wheel?
Yes it is compatible, and yes Siri will work with Pac Audio's control Pro 5. Enjoy thanks
Does the maps invert its color for the night time? (Like the app radio 4)
That is a great question, I have more Ilx -007 coming in this week so I will test it and get back to you. Thanks

I got mine today with audio express too bad it doesnt support bluetooth :'/ ugh and also it only shows my spotify app but not pandora?
Yeah that sucks that Pandora has not updated their app for CarPlay, you can still launch it from your phone and use it. It will do track up and down. Enjoy your new toy!
Which one do you prefer the Alpine or the Pioneer App Radio 4?
for Carplay they are both the same, however if you don't want to alway plug in your phone then thePioneer has bluetooth. The Pioneer also has an HDMI if your going to video.
Five Star Car Stereo Inc. Thanks for the reply. Do the higher voltage preamps make a difference on the Pioneer?
Jason Dearing yes it will give you twice the sound output and let you lower the gain on your amp to its minimum setting.
Remember Pandora?
How do I find the wifi video on the alpine I'll 007 on your channel?
What are you trying to get it to do? Video from a phone? If so do what we did in this video it is the same for the Alpine
ruclips.net/video/j4I3iGR3498/видео.html
Would this fit a 2014 Dodge Challenger? Thanks!
Yes it will. You are going to need a dash kit , smart harness, and antenna adapter. I would check them out at Bestkits.com
thank and enjoy
Can you but a picture as a background in this stereo
Gabriel Espiri no unfortunately
What about the Google play music app
Not yet for app control, but basic track up and down. Thanks
Five Star Car Stereo Inc. Can you give me the model name for that Wifi Video Adapter?
Paul Hodge axxess ax-mlink the video coming soon, i would what to buy
Could this fit in a Honda Accord 2007?
Yes it will, Metraonline.com has 2 kits for this car. The first kit replaces the AC controls 99-7803g. The second mounts below the factory radio 99-7862. We have done them both and they look good, it's all about the money. Thank you for the question.
Can I use my XM Radio with this unit?
This unit doesn't have an XM input, so you would have to stream it from your phone

I found this dash kit on amazon does it fit?
Thank you for your help

Can you send me a link to a photo of your factory radio dash?

That does look like the kit. I will warn you that companies kits are not always perfect, but we use them and make them work. Also they are the only game in town. Let me know how goes.
Can I use an app where I get free music to play music? It's called "Free Music"
You can use any music app and have basic track up and down but no playlist search. Only CarPlay approved music apps give you full control, and they are adding new ones all the time. Apple has a list on their CarPlay home page if you want to check its out. Hope this helps

Not with out adding some kind of video adapter. Check out our video on the iSimple Medialink, we show you video on that model. Thanks for watching
+Five Star Car Stereo where is the video
is it works in e46 bmw
Yes it fits great. We have a picture of one we did on Instagram search #328i5star
Can you put a movie in?
Gabriel Espiri it does not have a DVD, it is really not made for anything but FM and CarPlay.
I am seriously debating getting the iLX007. Currently I have the Kenwood DNX570HD and am completely disappointed with the iPhone integration. another question... the pioneer appradio 4 comes with adapter to steering wheel to hyundai santa fe 2011? or i need buy that?
+Gonzalo Roudergue you have to buy it, I would recommend the pac audio SWI-CP5.
how can buy that? i am from chile,
i need buy radio in short time and the other things ...
how much you sell the radio and the pac?
This little guy or the nex8000 help plz
Well the 8000 has way more features over the 007. If you can swing the 8000 get that for sure.

this one is made specifically for carplay which is not compatible with android.
you do realize you don't have to buy it?
