    I was TDY in Hawaii some years back I fell in love with all their tropicals,evergreens I also watch many RUclips videos from Florida all inspired me to start a food forest. 30 years ago I bought this half acre property with only two trees Arizona ash, and a plum tree that was not fruiting that I did not know what it was until I started fertilizing. I’m in zone 9 here in San Antonio Texas where the sun will kill many plants. I have six oak trees,pecan which are 30 years old and give me an umbrella shade. I’ve bought many fruit trees and many have died I’ve planted six pomegranate three are blooming right now,12 different fig trees, five apple trees,two peach trees,two paw paw trees,brogdon &Hass avocado tree, four different dwarf bananas,two star fruit trees that keep dying back every winter,raspberries,strawberries,two Myers lemon,one jujube tree,one persimmons tree,two loquat trees,two plum trees,one pear tree and many herbs plus flowers for my hummingbirds. Videos like yours help me understand what will grow in my zone as I keep going with my food forest. Thank you

    I actually discovered that we have a huge mulberry tree growing next to our house and funny thing is that it’s been there for years and we just never knew what it was

      @@TouchGrassGardening yup, I was mowing the other day and saw what looked like blackberries all over the ground, but turns out they were mulberries, and the branches were covered in fruit about 10-15ft up

    You have done well. You should be proud of yourself. You are doing what I am trying to accomplish. I want tree canopies covering my whole yard. It gets so hot and humid here that shade is the only outdoor reprieve. Wish there was something I could do for the humidity.

      Canopies throughout is exactly what I'm going for. I am actually OK with lower humidity because it is more comfortable for us humans :)

    Hello from south Texas! 😊 the eucalyptus was definitely beautiful. I bought one with the intent to use the cuttings in my shower, but it died 😅 lovely garden. Real smart that you mapped it all out! The purple longon is so unique and cool sounding! 💜

      Thanks and hello to you and south Texas. How did your rainbow eucalyptus die? I feel like it's a tree that is always in danger of something about to kill it (wind, cold, lack of water, etc.)
      The purple longan hasn't grown much yet, but I'm still hopeful.

      @TouchGrassGardening honestly, I'm not sure, but from the way you make it sound, it's not easy! Lol I haven't run across it for sale to try again since then so, oh well 😅

      Really huge in just 2.5 years... the trunk is massive (4x) compared to the rainbow eucalyptus, even though the eucalyptus is taller.

    what kind of soil do you have? what rootstock are your citrus on?
    also how do you remember each tree's name lol

    • @TouchGrassGardening
      @TouchGrassGardening  2 месяца назад

      It's clay-like soil, but the land was used for agriculture before so it's not too bad. Also, not sure what rootstock the citrus is on -- that has never crossed my mind.
      As for the tree names, I guess what you're really passionate about just sticks better in the mind!
