I have been watching many 9/11 videos lately, both live vides aired by news orgs and private videos. I have also never seen someone noticing the second plane coming in before it hit the second tower.
Also, I realize that I have never seen a Headline News clip, which is amazing -- plenty of CNN, but not HLN. I also don't recognize the anchors at all.

I definitely saw one channel’s news coverage that saw United Airline 175 in the distance but thought it was a small helicopter.

That was what they call “image promos” as HLN rebranded it a month before and it aired ar that time so don’t draw any lines of collusion

Wow i never knew Sean was talking with another News Agency till now I only heard him during the CNN’s broadcasts. Great to know he was apart of Headline News too! The fact he saw the second Plane come in live while talking to the crew hits differently.

Yes, I remember watching live on a different channel and a woman who was on the phone started screaming saying it happened again. The reporter thought she was being hysterical and then the camera switched angles and you saw it clear as day what had happened
43:20 would be horrible to hear on the news. Imagine you know a friend or family member was flying out that day and then you hear them announce that person's flight number or route (Boston to LAX) on TV saying that it was hijacked or missing after 3 planes have already been crashed into buildings. Only a few hours later would they get a phone call from either American Airlines or United Airlines that started with "We are sorry to inform you that...." :(

Sounds odd but a lot of people at the time were wondering about parts of the plane coming out the other side and causing even more damage to buildings and people below

I've seen a lot of news coverage of the day but I've never seen this CNN news coverage before.
Watching TV from 2001 these days looks like 1970's VHS or something.
It was before hi-def was commonplace, before flatscreens were typical, and before really anyone was broadcasting digital.

The VHS tape called "The Two Man-made Mountains" is by far the best coverage.
The original broadcasts are much clearer than this. Not HD but better. They already have good cameras back then but it is still recorded in analog. Most of this are archived in umatic tapes.
This is one of the few 9/11 broadcasts I have seen where those reporting recognized the second jet before the South Tower impact.

Some of the turner channels had contractual obligations to run local insertions... *Legal obligation* I suspect it was waived at least an hour or two later.
Common practice in broadcast news in order to gather information, especially if there's nothing else to talk about at the moment. They went commercial-free over the course of the day as more events unfolded.

Headline News is not known for reporting news as it happened, so this was a fairly new event for these two anchors. Even both of them stated they were used to doing news on a loop and it sort of shows on here. I am surprised how completely professional they were. I don't know how they were able to do.

Although there’s a lot of misinformation and speculation in their early reporting, I give them credit for being composed and professional at all times. I was asleep when it happened, being on the West Coast, but I remember the day as if it were yesterday. I called my parents as the United plane flew over their Ohio house before crashing in Western Pennsylvania. My dad saw it go over their backyard!

@@luv2luv720 yes, they said it was. My dad was an aviation geek and knew that the plane was too low and erratic. It crashed about twenty minutes after they saw it. The cockpit voice recorder showed that the passengers were trying to get into the cockpit around that time. They almost did it, but the hijacker was rocking the plane back and forth to make it unstable. The same thing happened on the American flight that crashed into the Pentagon. Very erratic and unstable prior to crashing.
Its crazy watching this in real time. Imagining how Americans felt at yhis point in time. Thanks for the vid.
Those of us who remember that day can tell you. We did watch it in real time, as it happened live. We watched in absolute horror.

9:40 Two planes crashing into both towers of the World Trade Center (within roughly twenty minutes of each other) doesn’t seem like an accident and it wasn’t. It was an act of terrorism. RIP to everyone (except the terrorists), who died on 9/11/2001.
If you listen to the FDNY radio transmissions, chief Pfeiffer (B1) made the report immediately for a 2 alarm response, and then while enroute, made the call for the 3rd alarm. Then as senior chiefs were getting on scene, they called for the 4th, and 5th alarms just for tower 1. Then after the second jet hit tower 2, another 5th alarm status was called. Based on the transmissions, before tower 2 collapsed, they had 3 5th alarms in for this incident, and were working on a 4th 5 alarm status. They had every available piece of apparatus, and every possible human resource there. They did put off duty personnel on recall .
Interesting that they still felt the need to cut to ads even though something major like this was happening. In the UK we would never cut to something as trivial as ads when something like this is taking place, especially after finding out that it's terrorism rather than an accident.
i want to say it might have been so they could have a quick minute to sort out the broadcast/programming while not live on air but idk

Dude. Chill. You watch commercial-free BBC whenever so major story comes on. And virtually all channels that broadcast news went commercial-free shortly after this. Get over yourself. It's not about how much better the UK is or about whether or not they should have gone to a commercial. It's about 9/11.

You could be right about her being replaced by a more experienced newscaster. However, I noticed how distressed she sounded at the first images of the fire. It's possible that she could've had a husband or other family member in the building and became to distressed to sit a report the news not knowing weather or not someone she loves could still be in there.
Probably so. The same reason Good Morning America, CBS Morning Show and Today eventually went to their anchors.
My first thought was that she had a loved one in the building.
The BBC will replace their daytime staff with one of their star (lead) anchors if something major breaks out so I wondered if that was the case here. Hopefully that and not due to a personal reason anyway.

I love all my fellow Americans. The reason this country is so great is because of how different we all are. These days, we only hear about the extremist on each side of the political isle. But I know people on both sides who love this country with all they hold dear. We’re still together, we just need be respectful again, like the days shortly after these events.
If you think the USA is a great country you learned nothing from that day , or the illegal attack you did on Iraq. 911 happened because of what the US has done to other counties for decades.

The comertial tracks were pre loaded, i remember watching this, our local vut away, the comertial started playing then someone yelled to take all comertial reals out of the macines now.

piston-engine propeller plane, a US Army B-25, in July 1945. This occurred on a Saturday, so casualties, tragic as they were, were light...

That's a helicopter filming the fire just to the right of the spire. Then behind that in the background is an advertisement banner being flown behind a plane that's not visible in the shot.

I had those end of the world thoughts that were not going away, not even during the Christmas Holidays. I sat on a blue chair that I loved, but was still angry. Said anger had nothing to do with chairs I had from my grandparents.

One producer made a mistake that day and went to the scheduled break. A LOT of mistakes were made that day and the months leading up to 9/11. This was a minor one.

They didn't collide with anything, they were deliberately smashed into the building... Collided means both were moving, only the planes were travelling at speed and hit the towers , the stationary object. The devastation of and deaths happened in nanoseconds. Shame.

That was an error, they had mentioned the bomb in 1993 where 6 people died and 1000 injured and that got mixed up in their reports.
They were referring back to the 1993 bombing at the wtc where six people died.
In those moments we didn’t know. It was pure chaos. No one knew what was going on.

They had “reports” first that the Palestinians (more closely pre-hamas group) was responsible. However Idk how much this was followed up before everything turned to Al-Queda.
They had NO such reports. What happened is that some people CLAIMING to be from a Palestinian group called a local TV station in the Middle East CLAIMING to be responsible. That happens when something like this happens. Sometimes even when it turns out to be a natural disaster, a terrorist group calls up and claims responsibility to make a name for itself. Osama said THREE WEEKS PRIOR to 9/11 that there would be an "unprecedented attack upon The West." All of us who paid attention knew he was responsible and that Al-Queda was hiding him on 9/11. The Palestinians and Saddam had NOTHING WHATSOEVER to do with 9/11. It was mostly Saudis.
@Great-Documentaries. My husband and I were sitting on the bed drinking coffee when the first plane hit. About 3 seconds after the 2nd one hit, I jumped up and said " Bin Laden!!!" I had heard a report of him saying, just shortly before that time, that we "Would feel terror on our own soil".
