- Historically, videogames have induced various different types of suffering in players. Frustration, confusion, boredom, shame, irritation. Commercial game development since the '90s has focused on the removal of suffering from games. In this talk, I argue the case for making the player suffer.

Was really fun to see/hear his and you're correct. Every successful game has these kinds of suffering.
I am playing alot of MMORPG's and "hard" endcontent ist just the best... even if it takes several weeks (2-3 raids 3-4 hours each per week) to beat just a single boss (and not receiving any loot or something). And you it reaches from just slight frustration to ragequitting and flaming in teamspeak or stuff. But hey... if this is what it takes to feel so good after beating that **** boss i gladly accept it.
