100 days hard core survive chased by lava. Get lots of resources then and either find a cave or find a way to live above it in the air. Would be spicy.
the lava is like a big game of Worm/Caterpillar where you can't go back the way you came. Make use of everything(trees/exposed stone and ores) in a spiral outwards to avoid lava walls stopping your available areas to get resources. Eventually get a conduit and live in an ocean.
this would be insane in either a wooded biome only world or the amplified structures; so much wood to burn with infinite lava...I might try that.

In retrospect: you could have destroyed the crystals and THEN you run everywhere to expose the whole island to lava so you can cast it with water and have a new island to face the dragon. This mod on an anarchy server could make spawn impossible and break the obsidian economy.
A good mountain height for farms and you never see lava at your base. The nether roof is the same and imagine making End highways?
