The idea of them being the only two left is nothing new, lots of games come down to 'it's just you and me', but a murderer admitting he's going to be lonely, but still completely set on killing the only other person around. Also, the blue-balling afterwards completes it, with all the ferocity and intensity being stolen away, and you hear the dissapointment in his 'what' as he realizes it too.
