I'll help u out buddy, dlss makes the game render at a lower resolution and uses ai to enhance image as an higher resolution so basically you are not using "more vram" on the contrary, u are reducing vram usage when upscaling and this process uses much less vram than what is saves you.
Everyone forgetting about 0.1% and 1% lows. I’ve compared both of these cards on my machine and find the 7700 XT performing better on average.
This comparison seems a little strange, especially considering it’s last gen high end and this gen mid.
With games that dont use much vram the 3080 will probably perform better, but anything that uses a lot the 7700xt is better, which is something we will see more often with newer games, and uses less power
must be a surprise to the comment section that a gpu that is 3 years newer, has better energy effiency than the 2020 one, that was built in samsung 8nm
It is because power efficiency isn't AMD gpu's schtick. Compare this to a similar numbering like 3070 vs rx 7700xt it'll automatically lose in power efficiency. Even the rx 7600 loses at 3060 power efficiency.
so should i buy a used 3080 instead of the 7700xt if both is for 400 dollraes?

It is a shame for Nvidia to put only 10gb to a card that used to cost $700. It should have been at least 12gb. Other than that, this card is still great today😊.
Why does the 7700xt footage show higher ram speed? 6400mt/s vs 6000mt/s

Yeah its between a 3070 Ti and 3080 slightly worse then the 4070 aswell the 5060 will probably be the same performance for £349 but with lower power consumption

Forza Horizon 5 has Ray Tracing enabled but is not labled as RT like Cyber Punk.
The Avatar results are trash, since you have Nvidia DLSS (Deep Learning Super Sampling) enabled. Not sure if there is an option for FSR in that game, but these FPS numbers are for sure not comparable.
Resident Evil 4 is also tested with Ray Tracing turned on, but not labled as Resident Evil 4 RT.
On one hand, good that you show the settings, so I can check. Bad on the other side, since I feel justified not trusting these random benchmark YT Channels. Atleast most of the time upscaling is turned off which is how I would play, but I would also play without motion blur, depth of field and especially without TAA (absolute blurry trash).
why are u using different settings in rx7700xt u can clearly see difference in vram consumption
As it has more VRam, the game engine allocates more stuff (not that it is actually using that VRam at the moment, it´s just allocated, thats how Afterburner works). Also the difference in architecture, memory bandwidth (320 bits bus-760gb/s gddr6x for the 3080 versus 192 bits-432gb/s gddr6 for the 7700xt). Theres lots of factors involved, i wouldnt assume different settings right on the bat.
