Wow! Thank you sir for the breakdown between these 2 beautiful machines! I’ve been out of the motorcycle scene since December 2017 when I sold my BMW HP4 and my last Ducati I had was the 1198s. I’m eventually wanting to get back into riding again but told myself if I did, I either wanted a Diavel or the X Diavel. I was unaware one was more forward facing with the pegs and one was belt driven. I am absolutely floored by the looks of these machines and I thoroughly thank you again for the comparison but I may have to eventually flip a coin to ultimately decide since I’m infatuated with both and can’t decide which to pursue!
@@smilinjoe23 whichever one I opt for, it’ll be the S version. Now it’s deciphering between the chain / belt driven. I know chains will likely last longer but more maintenance. (Assuming)
@@smilinjoe23 I'm in the flip a coin camp as well... just wondering since you've been on both, if the comfort / handling would be resolved if I put Ohlins on the X?
@@jones3892 i do not have ohlins on the xdiavel, so I wont know. But the S model on the diavel 1260 has both rear and front ohlins suspension. I heard a lot of complaints regarding the rider's lower back riding on the x diavel due to the foot control position, rough suspension and handlebar. I do feel less strain on my lower back after modifying my seat with mean city cycles and rearward handlebar.
@@PlaidDad It's not that hard to lube and adjust the chain. Some people have issue abt rocks breaking the belts which cause more to replace than lubing and adjusting a chain. I believe it's 700$ just to buy the part.
For me this video answered most of my questions including the info on the foot pegs which I didn’t know thx. I assume that there tuning kits to improve the xdiavel definitely my favourite video now. Hello from Slave Lake, a Alberta a Canada thanks again for the info.
I don't understand why someone would change the peg position on the XDiavel. If that's the feet positioning you want why not go just for the Diavel? I went for the X because I wanted that feet forward thing as I'm getting old and my knees just don't bend the way they used too. 20 or 30 odd years ago I would have gone for the Diavel. Is it that you prefer the look of the the X or the more smoother engine? The Diavel is much more of a hooligans bike. Are more of a gentleman? :-)
@@papatruss I prefer the looks of the XD and mid mounted pegs give more control IMO and puts less pressure on the small of the back on long rides... just my preferences tho' :)
@@rich0006 Cool. It is a good looking bike :-) Going over bumps on the X can send shockwaves through your spine! I try my hardest to avoid them. Have you thought about the new Rocket 3? The ride is way smoother and puts a lot less stress on your back. Really good on long trips.
@@papatruss - your experience of bumps hammering your spine makes a great case for using mid mounted pegs IMO as that would change your whole posture on the bike to stop your back being the target for shocks.... Yea a Rocket 3 is on my radar too - do you have one?
@@rich0006 Yeah, but unfortunately my knees don't do that anymore :-( I really need my legs to be as straight as poss. I have had many bikes with mid controls before, I've been riding for over 40 years and you do have so much more control too with them. I just have to be careful when our riding, keep my eyes peeled for pot holes! Sometimes I feel like I'm on a slalom course LOL.
Very informative video. I have two Ducatis already (Streetfighter V2 and Multistrada 1200s), and I’ve been itching to get a 3rd bike. XDiavel is on the list….
So, to Marty, you mentioned Ducati has a kit to bring the foot controls back to mid position on the XDiavel. Now, my question is, does Ducati also offer a kit to bring the mid foot controls to forward position on the 1260?? Because I much prefer the looks of the 1260, but also prefer riding cruiser-style forward controls. Thanks.
Looking at the bike I would have to say no. Where would it go, it's all belly pan forward of the pegs. On the X there are places to attach them under you. I had the same dilemma, I too preferred the Diavel's looks over the X but had to go the the X for the simple reason that at my age my knees just don't bend the way they used too. I've had my Ducati for nearly a year now and love it. One word of warning they are very highly strung. So far the clutch slave has had to be changed and the Ducati alarm they fitted messed up my electrics, which in turn drained my battery over night. Also if you want to do anything on it it is so fiddly and awkward. You need specialised tools and everything is very expensive. Have you tried the Triumph Rocket 3 GT? I also have one of them and the riding position is very similar to the XDiavel. You can't throw it around as much and it isn't as fast but the low down torque is amazing! Pulls like a freight train from low revs all the way though to the red line with ease, I bet you could tow a caravan with one. I find if I just want to go out and have some fun then the Ducati is best but for a more comfortable ride it's the Triumph, you hardly have to change gears on the Rocket whilst your constantly trying to find the right gear on the Ducati. Love both for different reasons. edit: and I also had problems with my back break going all spongy on the Ducati. They needed bleeding a few times. I have had the Triumph for over a year and so far she has cause me no trouble at all. The Triumph is much more solid and reliable, whilst the Ducati is like a race horse that needs so much more attention.
Is this too fast for a first bike? I really want the xdiavel but didnt like the foot peg, nice to know you can have the same foot pegs as the 1260. Was thinking of the 1260 but now might stick with the xdiavel
I have the Xdiavel standard with termis and live the belt drive and economy circa 55mpg alongside the massive power delivery. I wasn’t aware around the engine retarding the cams relative to the riding so that must be why it rides so well in different situations for static and speed and then rapid opening up whilst still providing awesome mpg even with a size 8 pillion (upgraded from a size 6). It’s workable even with the comfort seat and rear set pegs. Fitting forward bars and the taller seat shortly and the taller seat helps with pillion head knock (I’m 6ft 4 and pillion 5ft 6). I replaced the older Diavel with an X and the ride is improved but haven’t tried the new Diavel with the L Twin as I’m sure it would improved feel and fuel economy as it was poor previously and doubled when I switched to the L Twin. Just think the new one should also be belt drive as it’s one less thing to worry about.
Awesome video. 2 Questions: - Can you upgrade the Diavel S with front footpegs and a lower seat height? - Can you upgrade the Diavel S from Chain to Belt-drive? for me the Diavel looks much more attractive compared to the xdiavel (apart from the tail section) - though I am a typical cruiser rider (front footpegs) in the market for getting into the "powercruiser" categroy thx a lot
Question, is the Diavel 1260s , concerning passenger comfort for long road trips, comparable with a multistrada 950 S? Or should i stick to my 950 S for those trips?
Good video. After quite some miles on a Diavel on twisty roads in the mountains I can tell. The non X Diavel can give most naked bikes and supersports a run for their money ... just be sure to have spare foodpegs and controls :-)

Every thing you said is true I had a gxr and it killed my back I have a diavel carbon now and I'm currently talks with the dealership to get the black and yellow version
If you see this, quick question. Which would you say is more comfortable for longer rides? I'm in the market for a new bike and have been having a hard time deciding between the 1260S and the XDiavel. I've see reviews that say the XDiavel rides really stiff and since your legs are out in front, the shock goes right into your tail bone and up your spine. That worries me as I plan on putting some miles on whichever one I get. However, at 6'2'', I thought the XDiavel would fit me better. You're professional input would be greatly appreciated.
The XDiavel bumps do indeed go straight through to the spine. Also you can’t take the weight off your backside do it gets a bit numb. The 1260 has near perfect riding position for me (5’10)
What I like about the new Diavel engine compared to the old one. You can changed the timing belts out with out having to drop the engine. So that should help with maintenance cost's

@@dannyb2479 I love mine to be fair but be warned, everything is very expensive! I stopped counting the amount I've spent on her in the last year and a half but it's well over £5,000! I try not to think too much about the money and focus on what my bike now looks like and how well she rides. Next big upgrade I want is BST carbon wheels. Which is a huge price of around £3,500! But they will not only look great as I have already changed most of the bodywork into carbon but enhanced the ride in every department. You need DEEP pockets with a bike like this.
Nice useful information.. Instead of regular specification presentation 😍
I have both. get the diavel 1260. the ohlins makes it handle better
🇨🇦❤️ Thanks for watching!
Informative thanks! I will probably go for an Xdiavel Black Star with rear mounted pegs as you described at the end of the vid
Really well done! Exceptional detail and very professionally presented!
Thank you! Cheers!
Very informative video. I have two Ducatis already (Streetfighter V2 and Multistrada 1200s), and I’ve been itching to get a 3rd bike. XDiavel is on the list….
That was a very impressive presentation
Very good explanation of differences between that two models 👍
Glad it was helpful!
First time looking into bikes. Both both look nice.. i like the black tho, looks clean
The Triumph is much more solid and reliable, whilst the Ducati is like a race horse that needs so much more attention.
best person ever and the person behind the camera too. one day for sure, Ducati Diavel 1260. have a great day everyone.
Looking good superbike, I already ordered black $ steel happy to have it in July
Finally. Great video, and spot on for the topic.
I was a vmax rider but they don't make em anymore. Think this would be a good fit?
Absolutely
Is this too fast for a first bike? I really want the xdiavel but didnt like the foot peg, nice to know you can have the same foot pegs as the 1260. Was thinking of the 1260 but now might stick with the xdiavel
This as a first bike is going to get you into trouble or into the grave. The power and acceleration is insane. 0-100km/h in 2.6s
That was great mate cheers
Great video and diavel insight info. I'm in UK but sure is helpful. Thanks!
Glad it was helpful!
Nice 👍
Love from Bangladesh 🇧🇩
Awesome video. 2 Questions:
- Can you upgrade the Diavel S with front footpegs and a lower seat height?
- Can you upgrade the Diavel S from Chain to Belt-drive?
for me the Diavel looks much more attractive compared to the xdiavel (apart from the tail section) - though I am a typical cruiser rider (front footpegs) in the market for getting into the "powercruiser" categroy
thx a lot
Hello, which on of these is more comfortable, i specifically mean the suspension? Im 6'5, can i fit on these bikes?
Excellent video my brother, thank you.
Thanks for explaining the differences in these two bikes! But what's the Diavel at the 1:35 mark in the back?
Great video, man. You really know how to pass that info with confidence and not sounding pushy.
I appreciate that!
Thank you for all the information!
You bet!
Thanks. Great explanation. Is the XDiavel a good beginner’s bike?
What year did Ducati stop making the Xdiavel?
Question, is the Diavel 1260s , concerning passenger comfort for long road trips, comparable with a multistrada 950 S? Or should i stick to my 950 S for those trips?
The multi is more capable for distance with two up riding.
Rear wheel alloy of X diavel
Can it be added/customised to 1260S is it possible?
It can be, yes.
Good video. After quite some miles on a Diavel on twisty roads in the mountains I can tell. The non X Diavel can give most naked bikes and supersports a run for their money ... just be sure to have spare foodpegs and controls :-)
Really good presentation...👊🏿
Glad you liked it!
How hot do they run as compared to a Pentigale V-4?
Great job brother - to this day.
You guys are awesome I wish I wasn’t poor and could help people like you do well God bless you guys and hopefully one day I’ll be out of poverty and get a car or bike even a twenty year old car just to get to work good bless you and I meet your dad at seven 11 in enola a great man
Some claiming numbers like 175mph! what does it top out at really?
I been lookin for an x dievel s for ever u got any in stock ready to ship
Diavel my dream bike😍😍
I went from a KLX300R to a KX450 to a SV650 to a 2022 Z900RS currently.... Next bike will either be a Street Glide ST (lol) or this Diavel !!!
I wish there were a video showing the different foot placements with seated rider, I've yet to find one anywhere on youtube.
Great video man I truly appreciate it, quick question are those seats interchangeable?
Awesome presentation 👏👏👌im shopping for one and you explained everything I need to know! Cheers
Glad it was helpful!
Is it possible to change out the tail section on the x for the s instead?
So on the 1260 it seems reasonable to assume you could move those foot controls foreword right?
Still missing the belt drive but....
So tell us about the Ducati standard maintenance costs.
Does it have a gas gauge and how big is the tank?
XDiavel is my next bike when I finish with V4
great choice!
Does the X Diavel have a quick shifter like the Diavel ?.
Man I don't knw about Ducati as I don't own them ...maybe in future.
But u r awesome .....in u r job ... Well explained everything about Ducati..
When it comes to Ducati I prefer this channel.
Thanks a lot ...👍
Thanks for info much needed to hear
I drive the scrambler 1100 sport 2018
Is it worth to upgrade to xdiavel
Lots of people said driving the scrambler is much fun and controlling than any other bike
What do you think
Your Scrambler 1100 Sport is nimble compared to the Diavel line. If you don't need that nimbleness and want exciting power...the Diavel line is king.
Every thing you said is true I had a gxr and it killed my back I have a diavel carbon now and I'm currently talks with the dealership to get the black and yellow version
Thank you!!
I have the xdiavel s and is an experience to ride and never want to get off it. Certainly draws a crowd. Love it
Excellent presentation......Thank you.
Can you add Highway pegs to the Diavel 1260S
Very knowledgeable and well done explained
I love Ducati and I hope own one
So the only difference was peg position and seats?
Great video and explanations
Glad you liked it!
Do you guys offer the XDiavel in dark stealth?
We certainly do 👍
Fantastic and informative. Well done.
i like them both!
Sat on the Diavel 1260S yesterday at my dealership and could almost flat foot it (5'5 short inseams), but unfortunately they didn't have a xDiavel on the showroom floor. Is there a noticeable seat height difference between the two?
XDiavel is 29.7 inches and Diavel 1260 is 30.7 inches.
