I wanna buy Niva, they say it consumes so much oil/gas and it breaks too often. I just want a car that brings me home to work (20km) daily with no harsh Russian climate or terrible roads and no intention for offroading. Shall I buy a cheap and clean 2nd hand Niva?
If you buy carburetor version and put LPG in it, it won't consume that much, your wallet would be safe. But it depends on the place you live. In Russia and Eastern Europe you can buy tons of new parts for a scratch (Į bought a totally new exhaust system for 45€). But if you live somewhere in western Europe or USA, don't buy it. It will be very hard to find parts, even secondhand, as those cars are not very popular. Also, they will always have some minor problems (my reverse lights are not working and the instrument panel shows shit often, the electronics are very weak). Those cars don't have comfort at all, remember the fact they almost hadn't changed since 1976. But they are also very simple, it is easy to fix. I could say that they are reliable, you will rarely face major problems with those cars, they don't require as much care as other cars, you can put any kind of coolant and oils, the car still will be running. If you are a mech savvy, if you live in some kind of Eastern country, buy this car, I absolutely love it, it is simple, mostly reliable, and cheap to drive if you have LPG. Otherwise, don't buy it. Forgot to say - it is very unsafe car and going to a highway is a nighmare. But in the woods, swamps or countryside - Niva is a real king.

I can reach out to any spare parts easier thanever, I've found a 94 lada for 15.000TL (2200euros) and some parts of Niva are directly used by Fiat cars(old turkish cars). I will be buying it in the next month, I hope I can climb to anywhere with LPG as I do with oil. Thank you very much
@@dustypaint Yes, it will climb, as you always can adjust fuel injection ratio with carburetor. If you want to drive a retro car, you don't care about comfort and fast speed, it is a great choice
@@juozaszumbakys4225 I was saving money to buy my dream Niva (it was a god tier cabrio & tuned) and found out it was sold. I am waoting for the end of the summer and gonn have to spend some of my savings in holiday. I look at niva pictures everyday for now :D
