  • 03-07-20. Join me as I am nearing completion of this small land clearing project on our Southern Illinois farm as I am expanding an existing food plot for deer and wildlife. This section was all scrub trees when I starting the land clearing on it. I am working on different methods of light land clearing comparing pulling the trees out with the Bobcat e42 Mini Excavator, and also using the Bobcat T650 skid steer (CTL/MTL/SSL) with the Blue Diamond Severe duty cutter, then the Skid steer root grapple and now the Skid Steer soil conditioner. Also some cool drone shots today with the DJI Phantom 4 Pro drone. Stay tuned as I plan to break out the Branson tractor and tiller to do the other half of this new land clearing to compare the 2 machines and methods and see how they compare. Thanks for watching and please hit the Like button if you enjoy our content and share our videos to help get more viewers like you and us on board with our channel, we'd greatly appreciate it! Also subscribe to follow not only this particular project but all of our Illinois and Kentucky land management projects, Wildlife conservation projects, wildlife habitat improvement projects, Bobcat mini excavator projects, building small ponds, watering holes, duck ponds, food plots, Branson tractor videos, Bobcat T650 CTL videos, DIY rustic barn wood projects, DIY rustic home decor projects, treasure hunting, our Kentucky farmhouse rehab project, hunting, fishing and much more country living adventure. It took my operators about 2 weeks to really learn how to use a Harley rake. Once you learn to angle the head low spots will fill in and it will cut the high ones. They do make one for your tractor. So people that don't have a skidsteer can use one. Just for the record a good not great operator can do close to 2 acres a day getting it to look like a billiard table. Great work showing the latest and some of the best equipment around.
    Thank you Kapper

      Thanks man yes it'll take awhile to get the proper angles and such down so it works better. But it's usually trial by fire with me LOL yes I almost bought one a while back for the tractor but good to point that out for tractor owners, thanks

      Yeah usually the tiller gets a few roots hung up in it but we'll give it another try.

    Do you think you could make a food plot with just the power rake? I’m debating on getting a reverse tiller or a power rake for food plots. Thanks

    • @kapperoutdoors
      @kapperoutdoors  2 года назад

      Honestly, no, the power rake compacts the soil and only works up a small part of it. A tiller is much better for planting anything. Good luck thanks

    Never used one of these things i do septics I have a t740 and a t76 and do the final grade with the trusty old bucket but im looking into getting one was these for more options driveways etc in your opinion is this implement really worth its weight in gold

    • @kapperoutdoors
      @kapperoutdoors  2 года назад

      Well it is definitely a good implement, but only for certain things. Redgrading driveways, yes it is a master piece of equipment. Grading new lawns and such, yep, it is great. But you really can't put it to anything with big rocks, or stumps, don't ask me how I know, but you can bend the drum. But it sure is/was a great piece for me while I had it. I have since switched to an SR3 attachment. Thanks, and good luck.

    Looks like it did a good job leveling and smoothing the soil. I don't think the tiller will get the sticks broken down well enough.

    • @kapperoutdoors
      @kapperoutdoors  4 года назад

      Yeah usually the tiller gets tangled up but we'll see how it goes I have not tried it yet although I have done it in the past with the tiller I already know that it gets Tangled. Thanks

  • @barryhansen6854

    Not to bad for the short time spent on it, I thought for a bit that you were leveling it for a bowling green so you could play lawn bowls in your spare time lol.

    A B+ for the power rake..fairly good results in all that junk. You going to go ahead and plant some seed now? Perhaps some kind of clover blend??

    Given what the Harley rakes cost.... very not worth it in this case/usage. I think I would chisel plow it twice then disc it a few times.
    Good idea on dropping the tiller into there and see how it does...but wonder if the roots and stuff will just wind around the tiller or will they break up.
    Keeping it real as usual Kap

    • @kapperoutdoors
      @kapperoutdoors  4 года назад

      Well seeing as I've used a tiller for years now on plots like this I'm pretty sure most of them will get tangled up. It's just a matter of if it can make one pass over it or not before I have to mess with it and untangle it, thank you

  • @richbissonnette301
    @richbissonnette301 4 года назад

    Go over it with the rake on the tractor to pick up all those sticks. They are going to clog up your tiller.

    • @kapperoutdoors
      @kapperoutdoors  4 года назад

      Yes I'm pretty sure you're right. But I've gone over it several times with the grapple bucket and I don't have a tractor rake. Thanks

    I have a power rack for my skid steer. I have only used it a hand full of time. I think it isnt worth the 8000.00 i paid for it but thats just my opinion.
