Today 8/21/21 Don joined Phil on that eternal stage. I look forward to seeing them soon. Rest in Peace guys, thanks for all the joy you added to my 71 years.
My heart broke, again, when I heard that Don passed. I was in shock when I heard Phil died. My best friend of 35 years called me from NM to tell me. I was holding a family Christmas/New Year's party that day & it really put a damper on my celebration. I cried so much, my mom didn't know what to do. She thought I had lost a best friend. I felt like I had. I have been listening to them all my life, at the time of Phil's death i was 41 (yeah I'm a young fan) & so they were a huge part of my life. I met Phil in Atlantic City in 1986 & I was elated- he was my favorite of the two. Lol I still remember that day like it was yesterday. And now we've lost the other beautiful half of the angelic duo. My heart is in my throat as I write this & it's been several months since Don's passing. I found this video of them while looking for Roots to purchase & watched a video of them performing Mama Tried, so I had to watch this. My heart aches all over again. But, I rejoice knowing their beautiful harmonies are in heaven with God. Thank you for giving us the Everly Brothers with their charm & graceful melodies. God bless. RIP
What I love about The Everlys is you can tell they were brought up in the radio era and then came of age in the visual era (TV). Their solemn expressions perfectly fit their music and their personalities. Don't need to be superficial showmen when you're masterful musicians.
We just lost Don Everly over the weekend, he died Saturday at 84...the idols of so many of us that enjoyed their beautiful and sweet Rock/ballads when music was real Music......May the Everly Brothers Rest in Peace.....
Good morning my friend I was born in 1955 so I don't know when this song came out Am still listening to this music in July of 2024 I heard this song later in life and I love it to even today I love it a great song to sing with them to
Just been listening to sounds of the sixties and brought back so many memoriies. The Everly Brothers were a duo sent from heaven and to this day i've never heard voices that could compare to these brothers. Just beautiful listening.
I can''t push the impression out of my head that when Phil died ...there were a lot more reactions from the EB fans all over the world ..as well from the artist ( like Paul, Brian, Cliff, Mark,Alan Clark, ... ) and from the media..... Maybe because Phil was the first who passed away 😢.... RIP DON... You were my most favourite singer from my teen time of 13 years ..until now.... 🙏
So hard to believe they are both gone. I was lucky to see them perform live4 times and met Phil. So many have have gone on. Hoping one day to see them in heaven on day. May they rest in peace
Their Harmonies had a big influence on the Beatles and probably the Beach Boys among others. So pure and simple, great singing, catchy melodies, these guys I don't think ever produced a clunker. Didn't know Phil had passed to, till I saw this video RIP, true originals. So many of the greats have passed on. Maybe just maybe SOMEDAY someone or a group of musicians will come along and sound at least good, or even very good, better than the absolute Crap we have now, one of the worst is Nikki Minaj, "the Queen of Twerk"!
Yes the Everly Brothers had a great impact in our time the harmony the lyrics are fantastic. Pastor Mark Ramlucken from Phoenix Durban SA. I still do their songs.
Same. My mom had the best record collection. Everly Brothers, Four Seasons, CCR, Beatles, Jim Croce, Led Zeppelin, Santana, Hank Williams and Alice Cooper.
I was 15 years old and through the open windows of my school, I heard the Everly Brothers and Buddy Holly.... there in the sixties started my teenage life... it was goodbye to boredom and the beginning of the real life...
+elvis presley Yes I love the suits and of course the hair is world class. The boys are the most influential American popular musicians in history. They harmonized rock music. That simply can't be overestimated.
I was 10 when they recorded this song, and 6 in 1957 when they became popular. Having a 10 year older sister had it's perks. Thanks Patty for being born in 1941 & introducing you're younger brother to Elvis, these guys & off course the Kingston Trio & many more!
This is my mother's favorite Everly song. She's 92 and I just got to show her this video a few days ago. Today I've been crying for hours since learning of Phil's passing. They were my first "favorite artist" and always my favorite duo. As others have commented, they taught a generation how to sing harmony. It took me 50 years to notice that Phil always stayed a little farther from the mike than Don, so his higher harmony part wouldn't overpower Don's melody. Glad that Phil lived to see the unique tribute of an entire album of theirs (1958 folk collection "Songs Our Daddy Taught Us") being covered, cleverly named "Foreverly" by Billie Joe Armstrong and Norah Jones. Phil was pleased with it. Now Phil is harmonizing in heaven with Jim Reeves, Patsy Cline, Sam Cook, Otis Redding and so many others we've lost. Prayers to the family.
My mom had a very tall stack of records from her era. I grew up both listening to them and loving them. They are the very best and will be charming forever. 💜
I love their music. They was popular in rock and roll and country music. They was on the grand ole Opry. They never lost their southern accent. I saw them in concert many years ago. They was great.
The fabulous Everly Brothers - forerunners of all harmonising groups such as the Beatles, Hollies, Fleetwood Mac and even Simon and Garfunkel. RIP Phil - you did the music industry proud!
The Beach Boys are the Ultimate Harmonizing group alongside funny enough the Everly Brothers. I agree rest in Peace Phil, he and Don were two of the finest singers you can hear.
Forgetting the Country And Western guys they influenced or were influenced by. Louvin Brothers, Delmore Brothers, Glaser Brothers, Bellamy Brothers, Wilburn Brothers, Statlers, Alabama, Oak Ridge Boys after 1977, OKanes, Gosdins, Foster and Lloyd...and even The Judds for that matter.B.W.
One of my favorites of those times, the early sixties. I was studying High School then and this song brings to me so many remembrances of those bygone times. I used to ask the disc jockey in the radio to play it for me by phoning the Radio Station. Nice to remember those times.
When I die I want to be put in the Music section of heaven to meet all the great musicians for an everlasting concert. I’d also like to be in the Pets section.
Even tho I was born in 58, I had 2 older sisters that every Saturday was watching Dick Clarks... American Band Stand. I love the oldies cos they had real lyrics u could sing to & beautiful music that just made u uplifted or teary eyed. Either way it was the best of times for me growing up no matter if things ever got bad. Plus these artists knew how to dress & what rhythm was even if it was in their movements. Wish music could go back to that time even down to the country.
A sound all of their own. Sublime harmonies. The 5 years till 62 when the beatles arrived they were in their pomp and even they admitted to be influenced by them.Legends really, musical legends. Brilliant
Rest In Peace Phil. Thank you for all the wonderful memories you leave with us in our hearts. It was great growing up with the Everly Brothers. .The Everly Brothers were and will be the best Duo ever. Thanks guys.
THIS IS THE PERFECT SONG TO DESCRIBE MY KISS WITH MY FIRST LOVE! I'LL'NEVER FORGET THAT KISS AS LONG AS I LIVE! JUST TOOK MY BREATH AWAY AND I THOUGHT MY LEGS WERE GOING TO BUCKLE! NEVER BEEN KISSED LIKE THAT SINCE! WHAT A REAL LOVE WE HAD!! ❤
RIP Phil Everly. Thanks for the joy your and Don's songs brought me in mij teens, when rock'n roll was new and exciting. Still, after a lifetime, I can't hear them without feeling a young girl again.
High talented musicians and singer ! They were the forerunners of the best music bands ever: from the Beatles to Simon & Garfunkel ! Get's never old! R.I.P. dear Phil !
I'm 74 and this never gets old.
They’re SO GOOD. Every note starts together, every note ends together. Everything is so tight, so precise.

No one harmonized and sang with more heart than most.
Probably the greatest harmonizing duo ever !
Apart from the harmonies and their guitar skills, the simplicity of the lyrics is what makes their songs beautiful.
Simplicity rules
