  • Building cities in space is an economic problem even more than a technical one. By taking a radically new approach to space engineering, we can now solve both problems. We can build cities in space. Peter has over 35 years of experience in space technologies from micro satellites to the International Space Station, and space businesses from Earth observation to communications. He is now dedicated to bringing the small, low-cost satellite revolution to deep space and making available resources from asteroids to fuel a large expansion of human presence in space This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. The main point here seems to be that the first way residents of a space settlement could engage with the terrestrial economy would be to construct and service new and existing spacecraft. Correct?

I guess, but it was interesting fact that he pointed out that once this is up and runing the cost of new citys wil dramatically fall.
as people began living in space, the cost of making new space station wil be cheesecake.
So if you think about, the easiest way to make this stuff a reality will be to build moon bases, mining for materials on the moon.
Making a spinning habitat for the people on the moon base will almost be necessary.
But once thats up and running making a bigger tourist station wil not be hard, and witin a decad after that multible new cities wil begin construction.
So from a moon base and 20 years forward and cities in space will be normal.

pretty simplistic and without much meat or research that backs his conclusions. Visionaries need to show their work, or they're just theorists.

I'd say too much Star Trek. There will be no cities in space. But a lot of money will be spent.

@Old Blood putting money in space cities is not putting the money in the right spot

What an amazing idea!!! Smb must pay, but homeless people can't... It's impossible, I think!
