JK is the youngest member and also main vocalist of BTS! Our golden maknae 💜 BTS has 7 members, 3 rappers and 4 vocalists, they've really versatile songs and most of them are in Korean since it's their main language but they actually do music usually in 3 languages: Korean, Japanese and English! All members are fluent in Korean and Japanese I think and most of them know a lot of English too by now, but in the past RM (the leader) was the only English speaking member
P.s.: they've been doing a lot of solos recently because the members were entering obligatory military service one by one, now they're all in the army and Jin (the oldest member) has already came back :)) they'll be together as the entire group again in 2025 💜

JK’s entire solo album “Golden” is in English. You should watch “Standing Next to You” and “3D” next. BTS has a few all English songs, but the majority of their music is a mix of Korean and English. KPOP isn’t a genre of music it’s an industry. I recommend BTS “Mic Drop”, “Black Swan”, “Dynamite” and “On” Kinetic Manifesto Film for starters 💜

Jungkook did a surprise mini concert at New York Time Square, fans was told 30 min before the concert started and so many fans showed up, he do 5 songs from his Album all in english
Every member of BTS released solo projects before going to the military. So far, only Jungkook released a full English album. You should check out the title track, standing next to you. The legendary Diana Ross recently listed standing next to you as one of her favourite. She said MJ is coming through all of the moves.
Seven does not represent BTS discography as they covers multiple genres. BTS do have full English songs like dynamite, butter and permission to dance. All 3 are happy poppy songs since they were released during the pandemic.
Other hits from BTS (they have countless actually) are fake love, on kinetic manifesto and mic drop.

I like your guys' energy. Jungkook's singles went super viral (Seven, Standing Next to you, and 3D). I agree his pronunciation is very impressive esp considering he's not fluent in English. His voice is amazing, isn't it? I think you'd also enjoy the other members solo projects as well as bts group work. Btw before you dive deeper, know that they are still together, but 6/7 members are currently serving in the South korean military (Jungkook included). The member that left to enlist first was just released last month (Jin).

BTS sing in Korean, English, and Japanese. They have 3 English pop songs, and a lot of their music has English mixed in with their other Korean or Japanese lyrics. Jungkook's album was written and produced by Western producers and songwriters, and he specifically wanted to try out the English pop genre's. His target audience was the Western markets, like the USA and the UK. He did a lot of promotions in the USA and the UK, and he collaborated with a lot of USA artists. like Justin Timberlake (a remix of his song 3D, the original being with Jack Harlow, and Latto, and USHER. And you will probably recognize some of the Western Producers names. All the members have successful solo careers, while also being successful within BTS.

Definitely check out more BTS. They began in 2013, so have been going a long time and have a large back catalogue. They are all currently undertaking their mandatory military service in South Korea (Jin just discharged) and will be back as a group in June 2025. Prior to serving, they all had solo projects, which is something they have always done alongside being in the group. They all have very different styles, but join together as a great team.
They are a group of 3 rappers and 4 vocalists, also known for their difficult and amazing choreography, so definitely check out not only the music videos, but the dance practices and live performances.
RM (Kim Namjoon) speaks perfect english and is the leader of the group. However, most of the others have been learning in the recent years and have improved. However, they did make 3 songs in english which were pop, just to cheer up their fans (Army). A lot of their work is in Korean with bits of english included, so turn on subtitles as lyrics are very important for their work also. Jungkook's solo album is all in english.
They fan base is about 90 million people globally, of all ages. People make the mistake of assuming fans are all young people, but that is not the case, we include young, middle and older ages.
Also don't assume because they are labelled kpop that they are pop group. They were originally formed as a hip hop group and cross many genres of music. They are very diverse.

kpop is not pop genre music
kpop is not just korean music
kpop is a music industry in korea with diverse music genres and languages just based in south korea. there are mixed ethnic groups there are groups who do rock music only there are groups who only do pop there are groups who do genre mixed songs etc etc etc
the western media in any english country were too lazy to properly reasearch what kpop is and made up their own definitions based on asian stereotypes, microagressions and generalizations.
kpop = korea's popular music. doesnt mean pop genre, doesnt mean only in korean language. but does mean its mostly idols who were scouted and trained to be artists or performers whether in a group or as solo artists.
however there are many artists in korea not considered as kpop but are also popular music in korea theyre just not considered as idols example dean is a r&b artist never got trained never became a idol but hes just as famous as idols and charts very high in korea.
its confusing and nuanced because its heavily tied to their history. however kpop is not a culture in the sense of it being linked to korean culture. its culture like how pop culture is popular but no one owns it. kpop doesnt represent korean culture but some groups and artists can represent their cultures in their music or music videos if they choose. example lisa rockstar she shows a lot of thailand culture in the music video because she is thai. bts song idol has a lot of korean cultural references. agust d bts member has a few songs that sample korean traditional instruments etc.
but kpop itsself is not a culture.
it is not different from american music industry or uk music industry its one of the many music industrys in korea. in america theres overall music industry, pop scene, hip hop scene, rock scene, indie scene etc in korea the same thing exists but theres two types theres kpop and non kpop. kpop again = korea's popular music and the other music industrys are also popular and they overlap but kpop is what the west focuses on and even labels non kpop artists as kpop as if its a name for all korean artists when its not. again its very nuanced.
bts are not considered kpop anymore and they didnt really fit the box of kpop they were scouted/auditioned to be in a hip hop group not kpop but their label was poor and knew they needed to still make money so they became a hybrid of kpop and non kpop. so they offically were called a hip hop idol group. they have full creative freedom from the start in 2013. they write about their own expierences, opinions and emotions. and expanded genres as the years went on. they started with hip hop and r&b then added pop, added rock, added fusion of genres etc while 95% writing their own music. in 2020 after their tour got canceled they decided to take on the challenge of making a fun happy pop song in english to help spread happiness around the world. thats when they made 3 english pop songs. dynamite, butter and permission to dance. they wanted to do something thoughtful especially for their fans but the media took that and pushed the narratives farther that bts were just a boyband just kpop had no creative freedom etc etc based in harmful asian stereotypes. bts at that point had well over 200 songs majority written by the members and in different genres imagine how insulting and frustrating to not be reconized for their art and then berated because "asians should stick to their language "
anyways so bts is not kpop bts started as a half kpop group half non kpop group. they didnt follow most kpop rules and most rules reported on in media is bs. example they say kpop idols cant drink or get tattoos meanwhile all of bts drink and all of them have tattoos jungkook has a whole sleeve. i think it would be best for you to react to a guide as well as video essays on kpop like the ones by bbygangmag and boracity magazine both channels are great youll learn a lot and we will watch. if you react to bts or something about bts we will watch even if its a hour or longer videos we will watch. if you have any questions please ask :)
sorry for writing a essay but english speaking media so every country where english is the main or one of the main languages literally reports the same narrative about kpop without ever doing research and people just believe it not knowing how harmful and intentional it is that the media does this. they do this with all foreign artists to stop them from getting a permanent seat at the table. thats why you see maybe 1 or 2 foreign artists and songs go viral and then they fall off like a one hit wonder. those artists didnt stop making music some continued to make top hits in their countries but english media suppresses it like psy gangnam style he is still making music to this day and getting hits but the west doesnt report on it.
