Honestly, with the wifi issue, it might just be about where you're currently living and how good internet is there. I live out in the country and I have no issues connecting my own Switch to wifi as it remains completely stable. That's just my opinion though based on my experience playing online with the Switch.
Bought a Nintendo switch lite thinking the same thing and 3 years later I have 100 games. Indie devs are the best. Also switch is a good option when you don't have the steam deck.
