Great help, thanks! But it looks like they missed an easy option there, they could have moved the red thing up a bit and had a removeable bung in the top so people didn't have to strip down the boiler to access the valve.

Hi Allen just got to point out mate that theres alot of diy people watching this and will attempt the vessel recharge to save money and because its easy. Please please please people, 1st isolate the elecricity supply to the boiler. 2nd be sure you know exactly what your doing. 3rd remember its an offence if you are not gas safe registered to remove the cover off any boiler. Safety 1st👍
Hi, it’s not actually an offence to remove the cover of the boiler in your own property if you are a homeowner. You are however liable if anything happens though and you are not gas safe.

Found out after years of removing the ignition box .That the rain drain plate can be pulled down and to the right and still get your hand in to access the vessel.

Hi Allan I have a mains eco 30, serviced every year (don't no if the fella is doing it properly) but the boiler is just 3 years old. The pressure of the hot water drops regularly and the pressure gauge on the boiler shoots to 2.5/3 bar from just over the 1 bar status. You think this could be the issue??

Hi Allen, I have a problem where the copper pipe from the automatic air bleed at the top meets the plastic housing on the main exchanger is leaking. The pipe is a bit loose and the amount of drip alters as the pipe is moved slightly. The plastic housing has a clip that you pull but I don't want to pull it just in case the leak worsens. The plastic part that the copper pipe enters is fitted to the exchanger via a handfull of screws but doesnt look commercialy available. Could you let me know what makes the seal between the copper and the plastic. Vids are great by the way. Cheers

How come whrn i do this on my baxi main eco elite the pressure gauge on boiler goes up aswel as on the pump im using even tho i know the system pressure is at zero what am i doing wrong ?
Hi Allen, we have a main combi eco 30 which constantly leaks from the outlet pipe (from the PRV). We have to repressurise daily. Could low pressure within the expansion vessel be the cause of this? Many thanks
@@satpal2824 yes the vessel was repressurised and we also had a gas valve leak detected by the heating engineer, which was replaced. Been OK for last 10 months.
@@AllenHart999 hi, so I have a cheap b and q one, but same thing presumably. In morning it is normally at 0.3, and when top up water it shoots up. So if in morning I just pump the air in to 1 bar, sound OK? I can access the air in for exp vessel without taking cover etc off.
the extension is easily available on ebay, they're normally used for double wheel axels on cars/trucks. Check ebay for shrader extension and you'll find them easily
Alan I have a valiant eco fit pure Combi it’s 30kw in a 4 storey house with 12 radiators. The boiler was working. It stopped heating water altogether . The pressure was 2.7 I dropped it to 1.5 but still not heating. There are no fault codes. Do you have any advice? Thank you!

And all this time ive been squeezing my (luckily) skinny hand in to take the cap off the vessel with several bruises to show for it. Why didn't i just take off the spark gen and swivel the collector out the way 🙈🙈🙈
Its bloomin intimidating having it open like that. Just to get to a schrader valve... Why cant they just put an extension to outside the inner cover of the gas and leccy bits. I dont want to nudge something that I shouldn't! Great vid BTW.
I had the same problem soon as I switch the central heating on the bar went all the way into the red so I had to go outside and drain off the water to get it back down when it’s nice and cool weight drops down to 1 1/2 bar soon as you turn the central heating on it goes all the way up to maximum so I called the boiler guy round and he went and charge me £200 including materials to put a brand-new red tank in when all you needed to do was do what he’s going to videos doing.
@@AllenHart999 Allan we had our Potterton Gold Combi he boiler.a friend recommended ! ! ! engineer that does it on the cheap,well we had no problems with the boiler just wanted a annual service,after he had finished he said don't use hot water for 10 minutes (thought that unusual) so did wait. Then tried it found we had no hot water boiler indicates no gas supply on going out to the meter found he had turned off gas supply anyway after topping up from 0 to 1.5 then after a day or two water pressure started to drop to 1bar on checking all radiators not leaking.Must be something else he has done so I took cover off the boiler found like a vent on top of of pump slightly undone tight that up. but still have a sight pressure drop, could it be on expansion vessel were you pressure to top it up. Will no way call him back, should I call in Gas board it do Annual service, thanks
@@bernarddodd9041 top the boiler up and isolate the far left and right valve overnight. You won't be able to use the central heating for this duration. If the next morning the pressure is exactly the same your boiler is ok. Open the valves run the heating after a while take a look at the pressure gauge it should rise no more then 2.5 bar. If it's raised anything above you have a problem with the pressure vessel. If not your radiators or pipework are leaking.

The pump being used here is actually a stirrup pump, to be operated by both hands and feet.

Only problem is they dont supply f2 250v fast blow fuses so try finding one of them at 4pm if it blows, why not just fit a couple spares to pcb case

Can you not just leave the extension hose for the foot pump in place? So it will make it a lot easier for the next service?

Sounds like the expansion vessel may need checking, Ask him to check it on the next service 👍

Hi Allen if expansion vessel fails dose boiler make vibrating noise as well. When heating on. If u turn hot tap on its stop vibrating

Please don’t do it yourself. It’s inside the combustion cover. This will need checking with a FGA afterwards. Thanks.

The expansion vessel on an unvented cylinder should be set at the same pressure as the pressure reducing valve. Normally 2.1bar

You need to drain the pressure out of the boiler. I try and avoid turning off the boiler valves if possible. 👍

When you pump up the expansion vessel why does the gauge not rise to 1bar?
