Just wanted to say that we saw this review and thank you for taking the time to do it. Mark and I (Curtis) were pleasantly surprised to see a review where the reviewer did his homework before posting! Personally want to say thanks for letting people know that my name starts with an "I"....LOL Just so you know, we only put that easter egg in 6 knives, the very first 6! Figures a reviewer would get one of them! All the best and stay safe, Curtis and Mark
Watching this video 3/1/23. Ditto on Kim being an excellent first line ambassador for the Spartan Team. She's been so great in handling a return for re-anodizing. Spartan is a fantastic company all around.
Great video sir. I recently picked up a Spartan Harsey folder, my first Spartan. Thing is an absolutely tank. I love it. So much, I grabbed one of the Thompson CQBs and the Ronin Shinto fixed blades. They've quickly become three of my favorites. Anyway great video on a great knife by a great company. 👍🏻
Chris Reeve is the man. His son and wife are doing a good job keeping the tolerances tight on their folders (Chris is semi-retired). Not a fan of the Sebenza 31's ball detent/lock interface. It' works well on an umnumzaan or sebenza 25/inkosi, but why fix what isn't broken? Hinderer "fixed" his XM-18 folder by adding the Tri-Way pivot, and the tolerances went to crap on their folders. The old adage of fewer parts is better really applies. Heard of lock-rock on the new Sebenzas. Hope they move past this. Anyway, not really a fan of the Spartan Blades Harsey Folder. That said, I've owned a couple Spartan Blades fixed blades, and they are great quality. The owners are great as well. CRK > Spartan folders
There is a SPARTAN KNIFE that I really want to buy like you said but I believe this particular Harsey folder is nearly impossible to find. The knife has Arch Angel Michael on the handle. These knives usually go for like 600.00 It is quite the sacrifice to spend that type of money on a knife but anyone who looks at one of the knives can really appreciate the craftsmanship involved in creating one of these master pieces. These knives are so impressive that they look like something you would see at a museum.
Here we are 3 years later, do you still have it? Do you still like these 2 & still love Spartan customer service ? or did you move it along ? Tell us more would love to see a follow up.
All about geometry, if that’s solid it doesn’t matter if the lockup is at 5% or 95% however that story is wild! I might have to grab one, I will say the lack of a sharpening choil is a bit odd
I have the opportunity to get the SHF with the compass like yours and I was curious if it's laser engraved similar to your runes? I was waiting to hear your finger nail go over it the same way, but that didn't happen :-) Absolutely great video and stellar review. If there was ever any doubt on getting a Spartan Blade, that doubt has been removed. Thanks and looking forward to your next review!
It is NOT deep laser etched the same. Its nearly smooth on the surface of the scale. Thanks for watching. Ive been slacking since march but do have a Phrike to review from these guys. Been dumping my money into archery and bowhunting. Too many hobbies!
@@OzarkPursuit7883 In your opinion, how do you think the Golden Compass design on the SHF will hold up to use (not necessarily hard use, but definitely moderate)? Thanks
@@blueorchard3701 im not sure mine is unused still really. Not sure it would hold up to much wear. The deep laser on the Runes and Staves is very durable.
Wel I did, wife is gonna kill me before I get to hold it hahah I got the same one you got not the compass but the other one s45steel which I own a Umnumzaan would you say it’s better steel iv never heard of s45 before? But thanks for the review can’t wait to get this on oct3
Ozark Pursuit oh really yea I was surprised to see it myself, I was assuming yours was bc they look the same, but thanks and me to! Have you heard anything bad or good about the s45vn ones
Foolish of them to over look the 80to 85 % of the knife purchasers especially the hunters. the SHF looks nice but the price is outrageous. Now I see how come the Cold Steel is your work horse knife at under $90.00 People hype up knives for their own reasons and because a company has a dude or two that was ex military folks are incline to think those are wise guys about knives and they are almost never that. It takes a unique person with love for knives at a young age or hard time to be the best at knife design and structure. Cold Steel makes the Best of the Best Knives in any department hands down IMHO.
I got a blade with that same desing made design by the same guy for under $40 with 8cr13Mov steel stonewashed too and its a good blade on a bad folding handle design.
The design is awesome of course, it's Bill Harsey. And that's awesome all the employees are veterans, problem is they forgot to hire some Real engineers. The reality is this folder is a dumpster 🔥!

Amazing! Thanks again Curtis.
That's sadly disappointing, in all honesty.
This is awesome I have one with a Damascus blade and the same quote inside of it… I waited to get the right one and had a total score

Imo, by far the best review for Spartans on YT. Thanks for the great review and history. Looking forward to more reviews!
Dude these things look so freaking awesome. I just ordered one. Thank you so much for the video.
Hey Brother spot on review! Great job! Subbed! I am a huge Spartan fan as well
I appreciate that.
You convinced me. I’m buying one today.

I agree. I sold some things to buy my blades.
I have the stone washed version, I absolutely love it.
Have you had any kind of trouble with the lock?
@@12345Sui none, what so ever.
Those are good looking knives. Nice.
Great review! Wasn't too familiar with Spartan Blades, but now I'm very intrigued and want to check them out!
I just bought a phrike from them and they are pretty awesome! Thanks for watching!

I wonder if they've made design improvements since 2016. TheApostleP absolutely disemboweled the Harsey's design integrity.

Great review and great company. Check out the Pallas, it's awesome.
Will do! Thank you.
Wish I got this instead of Fulltrack. As soon as I get the money saved , I’m buying one
Cool review, you still got this?
That's the spartan I want
Thanks 🤘🏼

I can’t decide between a sebenza 21 or a harsey
How sharp was the second harsey folder out of the box?
It was very sharp!
Hi how are you? I have a question to ask you? How do I sign up to receive free knives to review?
I have never received a free knife. I have only borrowed or bought them.
Care too do a trade for one of the Herseys for a horkos blade
I just sold the golden compass and keeping the runes and staves. Thanks anyways!
Ok no problem they look like Owsome knives
