    In the comics Dutch Arnold character became a predator hunter and had a crew with the government. He found out the properties of the predators blood and injected himself with it. He aged slow had enhanced strength and high peak performance. The man was a beast with his skills. He became so good at hunting and tracking and taking them out, this attracted more of them to come to earth.

    The predator's netting is to keep them warm. Their home planet is much hotter than earth and the net acts as a heating system. It's not explained how it works in the things I've read, but their planet being warmer is why they generally only come to earth (according to the first 2 movies,) is during a heat wave.

    • @Drakkzilla88
      @Drakkzilla88 Год назад +3

      The net keeps them warm when they hunt on world's that have a colder climate and to help with their camouflage technology to fully cover them. But then again idk 🤷 we got many examples of predators who don't have that netting

      It is also ( as far as I have been able to determine) a bit heavier in natural gravity then earth, as well as having some other atmospheric components that make up their air. The gravity is theorized as being the equivalent of one and a half times that of earth ( I.E. an extra "half gravity" atop an earth equivalent of " 1-G " ) and on earth, the lighter gravity as well as their heavier natural bone and musculature contribute to their superhuman strength and weight as well as their ability to move much faster then almost any natural creature, man or animal, of our world. The difference in air makeup is quite obvious in Predator 2 as the one Yautja that lost his mask had to use a portable respirator and take a few heavy deep breaths every so often; Likely it's a bit thinner in oxygen then our world, sort of making room for whatever other gases or such are present, but again, as far as I know on this, they cannot go long without a proper respirator unit on our world because of either the necessary makeup of gases are either extremely thin or perhaps even not present in our atmosphere.

    • @Drakkzilla88
      @Drakkzilla88 Год назад +1

      @@sashi138 I think their atmosphere has more Nitrogen and Hydrogen and some oxygen which is why they wear a biomask. In Predator 2 when the City Hunter was fighting Lt. Harrigan in the meat freezer and lost his Biomask he had a respirator, so either this hunter had breathing issues or it's his biology and he can only breathe in our atmosphere temporarily

    • @sashi138
      @sashi138 Год назад

      @@Drakkzilla88 I agree completely.. they can function in our atmosphere, but only for extremely limited exposures.. our air simply doesn't have enough of what they need, hence the necessity of the original biomask as well as the backup that was shown in Predator 2 in use when the primary was lost.

    • @kb72977
      @kb72977 7 месяцев назад

      @sashi138 in the original predator the jungle hunter removed his biomask and fought Dutch until death. Not once did he require any type of breathing apparatus after he removed his mask. There was also Scar from the first AvP movie who fought the alien queen until death, without any assisted breathing. And finally Predators, a planet which was not their home world, and the Berserker didn't require any assisted breathing either
      As his fight with Reese and the jungle Predator was until death And that planets atmosphere had to have matched earth's or the humans would not have survived long enough to be hunted. In conclusion, the city hunter clearly sustained an injury at an earlier point prior to that movie's timeline which rendered his breathing capacity reduced. As no other Preadtor in any other movie ever required a respirator after removal of their mask. It has always been described as their augmented tool to survey their environment in various visual spectrums. As evidenced by Wolf's injection of xenomorph blood into his wrist gauntlet thus allowing him to highlight them through his mask.

    I always imagine that the Predators we see in media are just the hunters.
    Spears, claw-gloves and other swords can be just "ceremonial" types of weapons.
    Its just like a human walking to hunt with a crossbow and spear, while his nations army posseses rifles, tanks, altilery and other advanced weapons.
    Also about medicine, I wouldnt be surprised if they also had limb transplantations and teeth inplants.
    It would be hiliarous to have in future a story where Humans go on war with Predators, and they just pull out from closet tanks, power armors and laser guns. XD

    Another interesting utilitarian aspect of their mandibles is their use of them to consume food. While that seems obvious, allow me a just moment to explain what I mean, friends. They can, and do, use their mandibles to eat meat in large or small quantities, perhaps up to the size of, say, a medium-large turkey. The articulation and strength of the mandibles allows them to lift the food without using their arms; this is an excellent evolutionary trait, as it keeps their hands free for defense if they’re caught off guard whilst consuming their necessary nutrition.
    For example, it may pick up said turkey sized creature, live, cooked, or raw, using its fork like mandibles to force the food toward its internal jaw, just past the outer mandibles. Now, say a Bad Blood, or River Ghost, or what have you, gets the drop on the Yautja while it’s eating. It’s arms and legs are completely free to begin the necessary defensive measures, and, in theory, though it would likely drop its food, it does not technically have to, and could even eat while fighting, if it so chose.
    I always thought this adaption was particularly cool.

    • @nunyabidness3081
      @nunyabidness3081 Год назад +1

      (It’s also extremely likely that this utility in particular is *exactly* why the mandibles were developed in their evolutionary timeline, as well.)

    The Hish-qu-Ten ("The People Who Take Territory"),commonly referred to as simply the Hish, are the ancient ancestors of the Yautja species, They originally inhabited Yautja Prime as primitive swamp creatures and with an archaic tribal hunters structure , They change sex through out there lives, and have the Kill Gland , there culture was invaded by an Insectoid power call Amengi and were enslaved and as food, as hunters and as gladiators a very intelligent Hish Kaali born thousands of years into enslavement lead a revolt and freed his people , they eventually ended up stealing and adapting Amengi tech including FTL travel, they seem to have the abilty to adapt and evolve quickly and are the main root of the different Varity of modern Yautja . The main difference seems to be The Modern Yautja having more mammal like build and sex characteristics as well as seeming static genders, as well as difference in war and hunting culture.

      Have the comics confirmed this as of yet? I know the films haven’t. Only asking because if I’m correct, that’s NECA’s conjecture, not that it isn’t totally probable, but I’m just unsure that it qualifies as generally accepted canon.
      I don’t mind the tale at all, I think it’s cool. And obviously the Hish existed in the EU long before NECA mentioned them, but their story is quite different in contrast to what NECA described. (Namely, in the Novels, I believe the Hish is the name given to a specific group of Hunters as opposed to the now typical nomenclature, “Yautja”, but was in fact the species name, or *a name*, not the name of simply that clan. Could be misremembering, it’s been years. It’s also entirely possible the Hish still exist, or that a clan has adopted that identity.)

      Sweet, thanks for the response, man. I’m unsure as well, they were canon to the old novels which are now retconned, and yes they were depicted across various DH comics in the EU, that, to your point, now have questionable canon thanks to Disney’s ownership of Fox. This story in particular though, I’ve only seen told by NECA, (For the Kaail/Alpha figure, as you well know.) but very well could be depicted or referenced somewhere in canon I’ve not yet read/seen.
      (Personal aside, for anyone who may give a shit: The only thing I personally don’t like about this interpretation of their origins is the adaption of another species tech. But I do understand this well makes sense, seeing as the Yautja appear to be tribalistic and spiritual in nature, as well as being semi-nomadic, and not per say particularly scientific. The Dark Horse comics also implied some of their tech was adopted from slain enemies, such as the Engineers/Jockeys.
      (Now, I don’t know about you my friends, but personally I don’t really enjoy the idea that the majority of their sophisticated tech has been retrofitted from ulterior species. To that end, in my personal head canon, I’d like to think that the Shaman class of Predators act as sort of “witch doctors”, but in reality, they’re performing advanced engineering and science that has since been utilized by their armorers in a way that may even be ceremonious. I.e, the creation of, say, a Yautja’s plasma caster is almost a religious event in their lives, that they observe spiritually, but in reality, it’s just advanced technology that they’re engineering. Obviously this is hardly confirmed, by any means, just my own thoughts.
      (I just personally like the idea that science in their culture, particularly the creation of weaponry, is as spiritual as the hunt itself. As opposed to the majority of their tech being reclaimed from species they’ve hunted to near extinction.)

    • @Mlotshaw1
      @Mlotshaw1 Год назад +1

      @@nunyabidness3081 I like to think the Hish took the tech from and used it against there slavers and that started there nomad culture , But modern Yautja have technology all there own and are far more tech savy , Hish seemed to be revered and feared from there more primal nature and probably only see the tech as means to an end as opposed to part of the identity, which is some what different from Yautja. Like the theory on shaman, but i always felt there homeworlds were they are born and raised are probably more sci fi modern and run by females and retired hunters who decide the politics of the culture ,and the Hunters just limit there tech they use as to not ruin the hunt by being to OP. For instance Yautja Tribal leaders were known to hunt only with traditional melee weapons spear or dagger (even Queen xens) prolly as a spiritual nod to their primitive pre tech roots to be more like Hish.

    • @nunyabidness3081
      @nunyabidness3081 Год назад +1

      @@Mlotshaw1 I can totally get behind that, man. It’s definitely true that older and more experienced Yautja typically tend to enjoy more primitive means of hunting so as to increase the challenge. It’s also been certainly hinted the females roles are usually bound to “Yautja Prime”, but then that too depends on the continuity. I do find it cool how much is left to speculation, allowing us to even have this debate. I certainly don’t like the idea that there’s nerdy scientist Yautja developing their tech, don’t get me wrong. But I can totally get behind Shaman, older and Female Yautjas, and those akin to these things, spend time perfecting the weapons of the hunt, and the weapons of war the Warrior Caste utilize. I like your theory on this more than >all< of it coming from Hish conquering for sure. They, to your point, have always seemed more feral in nature, so merely adopting the tech as a means to an end totally fits. Cool, man, great thought process.

    Gonna pass on my knowledge on Predators or the Yautja. Longer dreadlocks does act as a attraction for females but it's also how many trophies a hunter has aquired. Only blooded hunters are given breeding rights while young bloods who haven't hunted Xenomorphs and become men aren't allowed and they are polygamists so one male can how many mates and many children or known as cubs. The predator race are repto mammalian so they are endothermic which means they are warm blooded and give birth to live young upto 2 or 3 cubs. The lifespan of Yautja if they live long enough they can live for millennia and the oldest known predator who hunted on earth during the last ice age but and some become Elders or Kings who govern the predator society while some elders are female depending on region. The Yautja come from a binary star system with two stars and their homeworld has similar climates to ours with a hot volcanic region, hot humid jungles, plains, and radioactive deserts. Their culture has a hierarchy with the highest ruling class is the King/Queen Predator then Elders then Elites. They do have a weaker subspecies of Yautja that are the slave race who are responsible for building, livestock raising, clothing, mining everything that the slave race do to uphold their society. Most of things mentioned are true and they do have a denser bone structure bcuz of their planets gravity which strengthens the muscle cords of their muscular system which is why we see them jumping higher and are stronger than humans, now their evolution is hazy bcuz in the movie "The Predator" it says they have human DNA which is false bcuz it's a misconstrued idea on the director who filmed it 🤷 but they had a similar evolutionary path like humans just in another planet. There are like 4 species of Yautja I believe, you got the slave race, the Yautja we know and love, the genetically altered ones, and Super Predators. (Smaller Predators and Larger Predators) the Super Predators are like the Neanderthals of the Yautja species KINDA! They got more advanced weapons and tech, bigger, and stronger than the smaller Yautja but that doesn't mean the smaller ones are less advanced bcuz you got the Dark Blade clan of predators who have Plasma forged weapons and superior technology (Predator: Concrete Jungle). Let's see ummmm ohhh when a predator who has become Blooded and has several successful hunts in it's life which usually takes place a few centuries the leading Elder let's the hunter breeding rights to any females of his choice depending on how many trophies and/or the females who find the most attractive male with longer matured dreads and how many trophies 🤷 it's a Juggle with that and the hunter is allowed to form his own clan. Yes they have breeding seasons like Salmon which only happens like..........100 to 500yrs? Maybe.
    How I know all of this 😂 um I'm partly unsure bcuz I had to look at my notes in a few notebooks from like 12yrs ago and I think most of this is from searching around the internet on the lore and speculation on the Yautja

    According to the novel Alien Vs Predator: Prey, Predator females are much, much larger and more fearsome than the males. Think of male and female black widow spiders.
    Males hunt in order to impress the females enough to mate with them and only the best hunters can impress them
    Predator mating: When a mommy predator and a daddy Predator love each other VERY much....................
    I don't believe that Predators can breathe in our atmosphere for long periods of time, which is the reason for their helmet/face masks in the first place
    I believe the mask provides them with their own air supply as well as providing humans who wear the mask with our atmosphere as well
    This would mean that the mask senses the physiological needs of the wearer and supplies the correct air supply for that creature
    this is shown in the movies when a Predator removes the mask and jets of air escape
    This would mean that someone wearing the mask could be able to breathe underwater or in space if they wear a space suit

      I’m certainly not saying you’re wrong, I haven’t read everything. But I’ve read numerous comics, and of course, have seen all the movies a ton of times, and have not, myself, heard of any Yautja reaching more than 3,000 years old.
      I feel too, and mind you, this is my own inference, that Yautja hinted to have lived any much longer are likely exaggerating to bolster their legend. The old “Always fear an old man in a young man’s profession.” type o’ beat.
      Anyhow, you could very well be right, but if I’m honest, personally I dislike the idea of any species that isn’t inherently godlike in fiction living that long. But just because I don’t like it doesn’t mean it isn’t true, and doesn’t mean anyone else should change their opinion.
      Cheers, fellow hunters.

    I dont think the shape shifting thing is correct, I would have to assume it would be something similar to the elites cloaking device like in Halo. Its probably a mechanism in their helmet or gauntlets that allows a force field to surround them.

    u got one fact wrong about Yautja as a Race is they hunt strong prey for the honor and glory that comes with so dont they dont consider humans and xenomorph weaker then themselves that is why they study their humans prey before fighting it
    they dont study the xenomorph tho since they already know each of these suckers are not to be understimated

    Is there any actual evidence or reference to them being intergalactic? While interstellar travel is already very difficult, intergalactic travel involves traveling millions to billions of light years, which even the advanced Predator species shouldn't be able to achieve without some sort of warp drive.

      Just because their mother ships have only shown moving slow in space or the single cockpit craft in AvP Requiem using only thrusters.....doesnt mean they dont utilise warping for instant hopping across distances. Their planet Yautja Prime is definitely light years from Earth.

    I have a couple of things that I want to get off my chest but I don't know the cannon side of the franchise, so please correct me if I'm wrong.
    1st - I have always envisioned the predator to be an honourable race of hunters (based solely on the first 2 movies and potentially the AVP franchise), so when I saw the predator installment with the nut job lot, I was fairly disappointed that they turned it into a "super predator soldier" type of movie where they chalked it up as "self-improvement scientifically". To me, this would go against the honour code that I thought that they originally had.
    2nd - the last installation with the native tribe was a bit more slower paced and had much less tactical/interesting type of hunting but additionally, had inconsistencies such as the camouflage tech was able to withstand the water shorting out the gear (which doesn't happen in the later years of the first two movies).
    Lastly (just for fun theory) - I have toyed with the idea that the predators honour code, love for the hunt, ridged head and similar "hair style" was exceptionally similar to how Klingons are from Star Trek. So it's always been a little fun idea (to me) that the predators eventually evolved into the Klingons

    Think it is quite meaningless to overanalyze the properties of the species. The info not seldomly comes from the lesser quality productions of the franchise, such as alien VS predator and games. The AvP is an abomination itself and should never have seen the light.
