      The racism such that Mongolia and China both refused them to film there plagued the show from the beginning. Also the sexism. Ableism. Zero Mongolian cast members or crew (because who would sign up for something that put you and yours down that far and get it so wrong?). And then total refusal to do any kind of research such that PoC were complaining their heads off haunted the show from the beginning, so people went with solidarity over celebrating a white dude with "too much yang" in the worst depiction of a blind martial artist I've ever seen. They were bullshitting hard with little to no research and asking PoCs to support it because, you know, PoC faces. And we said no.

      i'm sorry but i think you have this the wrong way . while critics may informe the public of how they found the show keep in mind that shows survive on ratings and the ratings are me and you and all others so even if the critics do happen to like it it wont have an impact on its cancellation if the viewers rating are low

    Camelot had some weaknesses but I still liked it, I am not a big fan of Eva Green but she playd it so good, in my eyes teh best Morgana ever,
    also (R)Evolution was worth continuing (but about the same weaknesses like Camelot).
    What I really do not understand is what happend with Marco freakin Polo.
    That has been one of the best shows ever seen on screen.
    But the f***ing Kardashians get a billion episodes and 100 spin offs, all about some of the most stupid people to ever walk the earth and of course their f**** handbags while dads turning into moms and the continuing fighting about sensless bullshit.
    This is so wrong.

      Marco Polo had some of the worst writing of any show in the last decade. The acting was ok and the cinematography was amazing, but nothing could save the show from its horrible dialogue. With that big of a budget you would have thought they could afford to hire some real writers.

      You're atypical. A good percentage of atheists border on Muslim level fanaticism in going after anything that doesn't support their faith.
      Yes, it's faith. They're saying "God does NOT exist" just as ardently as a Christian is saying He does. If you aren't sure, you're not an atheist, you're an agnostic.

    Kings was REALLY good. Every episode was so gorgeously filmed it looked like a movie. I can believe the price tag on that show. I think the biggest problem was it was never well advertised - it's an odd premise and there was contradictory info in the promo materials. At least the episodes that aired make up a decent arc.

    Camelot is worth watching for Eva Green alone. Since there are so many King Arthur movies and shows, they really should have made this series all about Morgana LeFay (Eva Green) and her point of view, as she was the most interesting character in the show.

    • @jdcmr
      @jdcmr 6 лет назад +18

      Mid NighT weirdly, I started the show right when first season came out, then I planned to come back to it, but didn't for some reason. Plus, my brother didn't recommend me to watch it because of ending, so I decided to leave it be. But recently I had nothing to do and finished it, it was fucking brilliant. I will never listen to my brother ever again.

      Best scenes were of Frankenstein's monster. Especially the scenes between he an Ava Green's character. My favorite scene is when he's talking and Victor is about to pull the trigger at the back of his head, but changes his mind cuz he felt sorry for him.

      To be fair, nobody involved had hindsight and it was based on Viva Blackpool, which had been massively successful in the UK. Traditionally adaptations of UK shows in the States are a reasonable safe bet as they either prove hugely successful [All In The Family and The Office for example] or at least hold their own without setting the world on fire [Life on Mars] I suppose Blackpool's advantage was that this bizarre genre was known to the British public from previous shows like the Singing Detective and Pennies From heaven, which had both also been huge successes. With the history of success of UK remakes it's not surprising Hugh Jackman thought he was buying into a winner.

  • @eddiewillers1442

    When I saw the promos for Kings, it looked so uninteresting. What was it? An alternate world story of where the US had a monarchy? Very confusing, but I watched anyway because of Ian McShane. THEN I found out it was an updating of the Biblical Story of David set in modern day. And it was wonderful!
    Well....why didn't you TELL us that? The promos downplayed all aspects that this was based on the Bible. I'll bet if the church going folks were aware of this, it would have been a big hit.
    NBC tried to downplay the very thing that made this story work. Their fear killed the show.

    • @2011blueman
      @2011blueman 6 лет назад

      The network was afraid that the show would offend the religious right because it was an adaptation of the story rather than an exact depiction of how the bible tells the story. Back when it aired that was a valid concern. However, because of that they never really promoted the show or told anyone what the show really was. You had to watch the show to see how fantastic it was, and by the time I found out about it they had already cancelled the show.

    Two Questions:
    Q1 : What is the average cost of making a TV episode? I realize this can vary widely. But to better understand how expensive these series were, I think it would help to know the average cost.
    Q2: Do you have a list of popular shows that were axed against their fans' wishes? If not, that would make an interesting list.
