Reign has regained full bladder and bowel control at this time.
She has sadly lost significant muscle mass and is unable to use her legs at all. I'm working on encouraging her to use her legs whenever possible and attempting to rebuild muscle.
Reign is my German Shepherd support dog that needs a spinal decompression surgery. She was first diagnosed with IVDD Type II (Slow onset) on October 6th 2023, but she then relapsed with acute IVDD on May 11th 2024. I am exhausting all avenues to try to save Reign's life, but so far I have found no financial support to fund her surgery and I fear I am losing the battle.
To make matters more challenging, I also have a degenerative spinal disease so I cannot support her weight of over 60 pounds with a sling. Reign is therefore completely reliant on her Walkin' Wheels wheelchair.
There is very little information out there on how to manage large breed dogs with IVDD. This is my journal on Reign's progress and I hope that this might help

This dog have a very nice room, looks so happy with such a place to relax no matter she had low mobility!

Thank you. I've tried to make her space as nice and comfortable as possible. I've laid yoga mats down on the floor and bought her an extremely comfortable single size memory foam mattress. It's so comfortable that I can lie down and sleep with her so she isn't sad or lonely. I try to make the best of a sad situation.
