Wind noise was added later, no whitecaps, quite mild wind on a nice day. Limited ballast & a single occupant on a boat with lots of sail? Yah, you could capsize. Was the name of the boat " the Hyperbole"? Probably
yes force 6, I took the film, which also had a shot of the harbour anemometer, why this was never included I do not know. The conditions were too bad to try this outside the the shelter of the creek.
Yes, I think so. No attempt to ease the sheet which anyone would have done, so this looks intentional. I question the force 6 too but in a small enclosed area like that there would be quite drastic differences over 100 yards. The anemometer may well have been seeing different wind.
. The boat sailed back un-baled, we had a job keeping up in the harbour launch.

Force 6? No Way - 4 At the most. The sailor had to work really hard to put the rail under and then he fell out! LOL
A lot of canvas up for force 6!?
He didn’t exactly let the sail out - put up job?
that looks more like force 4!
I believe the title says self righting test. Therefore he must have capsized on purpose.....

anyone had any experience with a hastings lugger. looking at buying one.
I'd have a hard time capsizing my mirror in those winds.
No way that is not a Force 6
I don't see a single whitecap. Not a force 6.
