    Well done, this and your other fit outs. It's great to see someone calm, relaxed and leaving no detail overlooked. So rare these days to find a "do it once, do it right" attitude. Your finished Sprinter will be pure joy I'm sure. Keep up the great work !

    Oh yeah Ken and his Van is the BEST Build that I have seen... I have seen a thousand builds.. But Kens is the best 1# by far.. only thing I would do different is maybe a aluminum frame bed with a hinge so it can go into ( couch mode ) during the day.. Talk about a Perfectionist Kens all that and more.

    Looks great. Lover the lower flip outs for ventilation. That's courageous with only 46 miles. Haha. More holes to come now that you've broken the 'ice' . Looking forward to following the build. Dale

    Hello, I just got my window and am trying to figure out the clamp ring ? Do you have to drill holes in the small recess to clamp it together? No one talks about this step. Any info would help. Thank you

    Looks incredible! I don't like after market windows but these I would do. I'm possibly looking into getting a sprinter and converting it. I'm a new follower and can't. Wait for updates!

      Hi Ken, I'm looking at starting a Sprinter conversation now that 4wd is available. I'm interested to know what options you found were best for doing a conversion. I'm specifically interested in how you attach seats and if they're "legal" for highway purposes. My inclination is to go with a Cargo van, however I'd like to add four additional seats for our kids. Are you using a Webasto for heat, and if so, are you installing it yourself (I've heard some people say they'll void the warranty unless you use one of their installers).

    • @markmcdonald8973
      @markmcdonald8973 7 лет назад

      I'm concerned about the heater warranty. Mind if I ask where you're getting the seat? That's one of my issues. On a sprinter forum a few months ago, people were going back and forth as to whether it was "highway legal" and if the driver could be ticketed for it since it's not factory seats. I'm in the same boat as you though, factory seats won't work for mine and I'd like to do something a bit more custom.

    When you initially drilled the holes before you cut, did you just drill based on the inside lip of extra steel or was there a template you used to determine where to drill the holes? Very nice work!

    Great job. I started the planning phase for a 4x4 with flares (pop-out) on the back for better positioning of the bed. Curious what you have planned for the roof (rack, solar panels, etc.)

    Great video Kenetube! I have been following your build and you are an invaluable resource.
    Question, when you used the jigsaw from the outside, did it just cut straight through the vertical supporting bars on the inside? I was unsure when those got trimmed.

    Hi Ken,
    Wow, great content. I think I have viewed all of your Sprinter videos. Well worth purchasing all of my parts from your site store.
    My daughter and I are about to begin a conversion. We just ordered a new 4x4 and couldn't find OEM installed swivel seats. Do you have the order code you used? Production starts in two weeks, maybe they will accept the change order.
    Thanks,
    Jim

    Hi Ken. Stumbled onto you RUclips channel / website a couple of months ago and have found your blog and vlog posts very helpful. I noticed you mentioned in a later post that you had some problems with CRL customer service (I believe relating to a fitment issue with your T-Vent. Correct?). That said, I'm trying to decide between the CRL T-Vent and AMA screened Half Slider and wanted to get your feedback on the CRL T-Vent now that you've been using it for quite some time. Any issues with the vent opening / closing? Any other quality or fitment issues worth pointing out? Would you purchase the T-Vent again or go with a different mode / manufacturer? Any feedback you can provide on CRL and the T-Vent in particularly would be very helpful. Thanks!

      Hi, the quality of the window is not great. The two panes in mine don’t align perfectly and it really bugged me at first. But that said, I’m in Colorado right now in a thunder storm with them open and no bugs or rain can get in. While the AMA are likely better quality, I don’t believe they are screened and would let rain in. For those reasons I would go crl again despite the so-so quality. Something to think about. Take care!

      ourkaravan Thanks! Helpful to know. We were having a tough time deciding between CRL and AMA for the front. Ended up going with CRL. Because of your comments about their customer service, we went through Van Windows Direct as we were impressed with the help they gave us before even ordering the windows. Thanks again!

    I need to buy a jigsaw. Do you think the corded is better than the cordless? Is there more power & less weight on the corded for easier of cutting curves into car metal?... Would cordless do the job? - I am on the road & can more easily get power to a cordless tool. But, I’m happy to buy corded if necessary. 🙂

    Hello Ken - great videos! Say, I know its been a while, but regarding your CR Laurence T Vent window behind driver - do you have a number? Reason I ask is, I see a few listed and it looks like yours is a DUAL T Vent. I have a 2011 144 and would like to add that exact window, but I don't see it listed for my model year. Thanks!

    That was way too fast wasnt help full. Didnt say how they mount it and what silicone for sealer to used.

    • @ourkaravan
      @ourkaravan  3 года назад

      No silicone was used, and in fact you should never use silicone on a vehicle. The acid in silicone will etch paint and eventually cause rust. The CRL window has a rubber gasket on the back and once the hole is cut the only thing left to do is use the provided screws and screw it down. There isn’t any more to it.

    • @ourkaravan
      @ourkaravan  5 лет назад

      This was my first project on the van and I learned first-hand that those metal shavings go everywhere. I was able to pick them all up with a magnet, but in my later videos I become a strong advocate of putting sheets over the wall cavities and controlling where the metal scharf goes!
