- Опубликовано: 24 янв 2019
- This performance dates from 5 September 1992.
It features both Mandawuy Yunipingu (Vocals and 1992 Australian of the Year) and his 21 year old nephew Geoffrey Gurrumul Yunipingu (right hand guitar played left handed). Other key members are listed below.
The all conquering Yothu Yindi played many dates in Australia that year. Gurrumul left the band later in the year and prior to their first overseas tour, but would return to become the most successful indigenous artist by album sales at the time of his death in 2017.
Lead guitar: Cal Williams
Bass: Stuart Kellaway
Drums: Andrew Belletty
Didgeridoo: Milkayngu Mununggurr
Traditional vocals and ironwood clapsticks: Witiyana Marika
Stompen Ground was broadcast live by the ABC and included a full concert line-up, Unfortunately my tape was running out and only made it half way through the penultimate song,' Tribal Voice'. 'Treaty' followed (but only as a song). Развлечения
I was there on this day. A very spiritual man lost but never forgotten. He is still with us in our dteam land.
Where is this?
@@Avistadores-de-ovinins Where is what?
The video is taken in Broome in 1992 (see video credits). If the commenter is asking where is our dream land: that refers to a place in our hearts.@@Avistadores-de-ovinins
This is Australian culture at its finest, just wish I saw more of it
Goosebumps!! I was right up the front.. loved the original treaty song
This man is a Legend
What a fantastic entertainer with a great stage presentation, 30 years will go for another 30,000 years in spririts with Yothhu Yindi
Beats the crap out of anything that comes out musically today...
I was there
I saw them in Alice Springs in ‘93 in the velodrome. The concert was incredible and peaceful to my knowledge but 2 tribes reignited a rivalry afterwards that night and we were told to stay inside the hostel area which had 10’ walls with barb wire at the top. While sitting there listening to the sirens and the screams one poor guy climbed over a fence to escape the insanity, he was covered in blood but very friendly. We talked for hours, until the hostel decided he had to leave.
My heart goes out to Alice Springs now because there is no acceptable solution to the violence there now.
