dear, you are and you were suppose to check miui version and android version before flashing and should compare your mobile version with the video, i think you have flash old android version recovery on latest miui version??? now simply flash stock rom back on your mobile
Do I have to unlock the bootloader before rooting?
Of course , BGK was nice enough to give warning at begins of the video don't do anything beofre bootloader is unlocked. Video also suggest you to check back previous BGK's video on how to unlock bootloader on Xiaomi's devices.

make sure you have unlocked your phone's bootloader with miflash-unlocktool, or else it will show (Locked State) when sending recovery.img in fastboot
@@baduss2625 you need to try unlocking bootloader with miflash it gonna write error but you can wait one week and try again, thats how l unlocked bootloader. no cmd recovery.img needed it bricked my phone but l unbrick and try with this video.

no, you absolutly need a comptuer to root a phone, i's to prevent malware to obtain access to the systeme. it's why you need a computer.
(on old devices you can try root king or towel root without computer)

custom recovery suppose to be install of miui 14 and latest root app need to be install, current recovery will not work on lower version of miui 14
