    Thats a very nice idea you had there my friend ,in some occasions the undervolt can be quite beneficial especially to save some energy and thermals,the performance difference is there but the powerdraw in some cases is way higher. I find the undervolt procedure as fascinating as the overclock procedure I like to know both those limits on my cards aswell.

    Thanks for taking the time to do this video. Very helpful. I have never considered undervolting my GPU. I have always had it overclocked because I have been able to keep its performance stable and the temperatures cool.

    In my tests 25xx 925mV seems to roughly be the best to go for. Performance per watt gets better the further you go down and that's roughly where the performance loss becomes a bit much. It's 94% the performance for 74% of the power.
    Made a crappy spreadsheet and line graph if anyone's interested. Not many data points though.

    I've been running my suprim x 3080 12gb since the day i bought it at 0.850Mv @1860. In most games runs between 210 and 260 watts. Stock at 100% it runs at 2040mhz 1.093v 390 watts. I did get some good silicon as it will hold 2250 at 1.1v 425watts in unigine heaven.

  • @ShiroNoFune

    One thing that Bang4Buck forgot to mention, you can almost always undervolt your GPU to get exactly the same performance you get at stock settings, reducing the needed voltage and reducing temps and power draw.
    It obviously takes a little bit of finesse, but you can get there.
    I don't think undervolting is as necessary as it was with 3xxx cards, as the 4090 runs cold even eating 450W, but it's always worth considering.

I’m running .975/+1000/2790 clock and it’s around 350w in 2077.. doesn’t break 65c core/80c hot spot at less than 60% fan speed on asus tuf non oc. +133% pl, but throttles at 80c max just in case something goofy happens with fan control software. Ur card must be water cooled with those temps..I wonder if I can do a .950 and gain the lost performance back by going to x570. I think it’s 3-4% loss for pcie3. Not sure if this would work.. and obviously not worth upgrading for alone. But I just got a couple 990 pros to raid 0 and just need a mobo to match with it. Thinking MSI edge max.

I have the core clock +210mhz. My power draw also went from around 285w to around 235w. Temps went down from around 66c to 58c

    • @Bang4BuckPCGamer
      @Bang4BuckPCGamer  Год назад +3

      Because at 4K ultra settings, it is very easy to hit the power limit on the RTX 4090 if you reduce it. Then your clocks will start to fluctuate. Try playing Cyberpunk with Ray tracing at 4K with a reduced power limit. That game can hit 500W easy

    • @GeneralSouthParkFan
      @GeneralSouthParkFan Год назад

      @@Bang4BuckPCGamer In that case, it should just be a matter of running the same OC but using different Afterburner profiles with separate power limits for a per game basis (Raster vs RT, heavy AA, etc). Quake 2 RTX can make even 865mv/2.5GHz draw >340W afaik, but a lot of games don't really touch that kind of power in most situations (Shown by yourself by the majority of examples in your vid staying under 350W even with .95V/2.7GHz, with only F1 2021 approaching ~390W).
      Flattening the curve should only really be a necessity in the case of those with more weaker power supplies while also rocking a power hungry CPU (I.E a SFF build rocking a 13900K + SF750), otherwise for most people it's unnecessarily sacrificing performance while under lighter load scenarios, but we can agree to disagree if you so please. The mere fact that you're doing the method of core offset + flattening the curve itself to retain effective clocks vs ruining effective clocks by raising one voltage point puts you leagues above damn near anyone else showing Lovelace undervolting/overclocking mate.
