- Full cut of the exploring NY Harbor series.
New York harbor and the surrounding water have a lot to offer and much to see. I share my experiences and locations I have visited in and around NY harbor. Anchorages, dock and dine, good transient slips, gas docks, repair locations and more. A great resource for loopers and cruisers looking for places to go and visit safely with your boat.
This is the long version of the original posted video for those who wish to learn more about the NY/NJ harbor waters.
Safe travels! Especially to Michael Jay Steen and Marty Zoffinger who were the inspiration for this video as they prepare for their loop North from Florida. Follow their journey on their channels.

What an outstanding first hand review of this complex area and highlight of The Loop. Thank you!
This is the best information I've seen for our harbor. good work!
Great info! Thanks
Thanks for the putting this together. Very helpful. Lived my whole life in Brooklyn and Jersey. Never visited Manhattan by pleasure boat. Is there a place to take on and discharge passengers in lower Manhattan? I am familiar with the North River Harbor and entered and exited before as part of sailing club. Tricky with fast Hudson River currents. I suppose there is a charge to pickup and discharge with no plan to stay?
thanks
As far as I know all marinas and docks in lower Manhattan charge exorbitant fees to touch and go. Last I heard North cover was $80. I once picked up my brother along the world financial center seawall. He just hopped over the fence. Lol
@@AdventuresofHappyOurs Sounds like a plan but my brother is 73! haha. Anywhere on the east river side?
None that I am aware of. They are strict with any boats pulling up to docks all over Manhattan. It’s a shame.
Excellent information !!!!! Seems to me though stay away Sandy Hook area , I guess unless ur Well traveled through that area, But ur info is Point On again if your well traveled in that area Seems, my opinion But very interesting to seek & search out !!! 😳🤔. How about area around Manhattan, like Statue of Liberty section ? More touristy I’m sure but Cool to see by Water I’m sure
Yea I’m pretty sure Marty is from Brooklyn NY area .... seems nice to explore also 👍
Looks like u might be a Tourist guide 👍 Excellent information!!!!!!!!!
Also yea Remember Sandy Hook 2012 I volunteered from a Crew from Balto Gas & Elect company . We worked repairing a lot of the Gas lines underwater Damage by Hurricane, Beautiful area even during Sandy aftermath . There Week & A Half . Wow. My Remembrance !!!!!!!!
Thanks Ken! The Sandy Hook area is my favorite place to go boating. Lots of protected areas to anchor, plenty of dock and dine and towns to visit and it’s the closest you can get to the cleaner sandy beaches and open ocean with the boat and not be on the ocean side. It’s a wide open area it’s deep water until you get closer to shore. Then just stay in channels as you head into the rivers. Can just get a little rough in the bay at times with boat traffic.
I know Hurricane Sandy well as I lived in Staten Island and worked in lower Manhattan at the time. I lost my boat (actually lost the entire Marina& harbor) to Sandy. Did you ever see the video on that? Thanks for helping us recover up here! ruclips.net/video/1tMOCUywS5k/видео.html
