oh man you save my trip to Porto! In few weeks I going to Porto and I was thinking about cycling there , I was sad because I think is not place for cycling , but for your video I discovered a fantastic option, thank you very much. Cheers from Ireland 🇮🇪
Yes, Pedro is absolute correct. You can also ride along the coastline, either north or south. In this video route, until Mesão Frio is not that easy to be honest.
Flabbergasted, once again, by the breathtaking scenery and the History lessons. Thanks, Miguel and Renato. Alto Douro Wine Region, definitely on my list!
Watching this while being hungover from drinking alot of Port last night. Now I wanna go have another glas or three. Gorgeous bridges! And I like viewpoints like the one at 17:00
Muito obrigado Miguel. Many happy memories of holidays in the alto Douro. If anyone finds themselves in Regua, I can recommend a visit to the Museu do Douro.
@@onecyclistinlisbon My Great Great Grandparents homesteaded a farm in central Nebraska in 1865 for his service in the war. They were some of the first settlers in the area. They road as far as the trains then walked two more days to get the homestead. Built the first house, one room for a family of five. no other homes for miles. Many of the homes were Sod homes very few lasted twenty years. Very few trees in the area for lumber even less areas with rocks for building. That was Homesteading in the new frontier.
Thanks so much for sharing your wonderful tour with us! Really enjoyed all the views of the river and the many terraces; what a lot of effort was put in to create them! You have an excellent eye for beauty, and I appreciate your willingness to share with us.
Thank you for the wonderful trip through the country. I hope to make the same exact trip whenever we can actually travel to Portugal from the USA. The historical and biological perspectives really make this even more interesting.
@@onecyclistinlisbon Ok Miguel, our trip is finally booked. We will arrive in Lisboa on 2 May, then spend some time based in Porto, move to the Algarve Coast and then finally depart from Lisboa 21 May. All of your touring will help give us some ideas so thank you. Do you ever have problems getting your bikes on the trains?
@@robertkribs9513 Sometimes. On Intercity trains you have to book the seat and the bike spot (which is for free) while on the Regional trains you don't book seats and each bike-wagon takes 4 or 5 bikes but make sure to be the first cyclist to get in. High Speed trains (Alfa Pendular) only accepts bikes if they are dismantled. Have fun!
Enjoyed every minute Miguel👍 I have flight and hostel booked in Porto for 14th September, but may have to cancel, as I believe Portugal may loose its air bridge with the U.K., very sad 😡
Enjoying your channel! Do you have an opinion about the best (relatively speaking) Portuguese city for a road cyclist to live in? That would include: cycling community, varied terrain, shops/service...and anything else you think might be important. Thanks for any recommendations!
Thank you. I was initial looking for a camping site but could not find so we got an apartment on Eiriz. We had to climb a lot but it's part of life lol
Fantastic ride! Do you happen to have a link to the route you took? I'm planning to do this route post-covid. I've cycled as far as Melres but not explored much further. Thanks
One of the most underrated youtube channels.

You ride over cobblestones and trolley tracks pretty casually. What size tires do you use and at what pressure?
balls of steel
I should not do it actually. 700 25c and I don't recall the pressure but I would say high.
I remember people jumping off the bridge
