Man, this was an amazing tutorial. I've been wanting to learn this for some time. I just found your tutorial today! Thank you for sharing. I'm looking forward to trying this out!
I have been really inspired by you lately!! I really enjoy watching your videos. I specifically watched this one all the way through because I wanted to do the same thing you just did but for a picture of my girlfriend's guinea pig. I outlined but I struggled with definition. Using the pencil technique and drawing all the shadows/highlights really gives definition. Thank you so much!
Hi Cody, I was following your tecnique to draw a portrait of Mac Miller but he is wearing a patterned shirt and I'm not sure how to make it. Do you think you could help me out? Also let me know how I should send you the picture because it's kind of hard to send it through a comment.
For the patterned shirt try identifying the shadows and highlights as the shapes and ignore the pattern. Might be tricky but it’s okay if the shirt is less detailed.
yo man, very nice video. is there a reason why you keep the "Fill new pencil strokes" checked in the pencil settings? i imagine it would make your flow even faster if that is checked off as you can go straight to 'i' or the eyedropper tool instead of having to '/' to remove the fill. for me that's quite a bother when you have your right hand on the mouse and your left on the keyboard as the '/' key is usually at the far right haha
That’s a good point. For me it’s become habit to hit ‘/‘ but for anyone just starting out it would probably make sense to adjust settings so “fill new pencil strokes” is unchecked. Thanks for the feedback 👍🏽
