My 2-year-old can't write "Thank you a million times for this video" yet, so I'm writing it on his behalf. He just can't get enough of it. Plus, lovely landscape, perfect set-up, this is really good stuff.
No trouble at all mate. If he grows as fond of Britain as I've always been maybe one day on a trip to the Old Albion we drop by and buy you a pint at your local :)
I have seen most of your videos, and this is one of the best. Great set-up too, if I were to start a contracting business, this would be the exact set up I would use. Cost effective and dynamic.
alright pal , been looking back at these videos as it brings my child hood memories back , as im older now but i don't know if you remember the other farm just under the black mountain as we ran the operation as a family / friends as im the son in line for that family farm (Morgan farm ) bit of an update for you , sadly my uncle being a bit of a tool wasn't well liked through the family but recently sold the farm before my 18th birthday witch meant i wasn't able to inherit the land and as a result its just this farm in the video running nowadays witch is a shame and it breaks my heart but the TS115 was sadly sold off , and is now in Bristol of all places but there we are , anyways , the videos bring back the fantastic memories of what i would have loved to continue working on if inherited , extremely passionate about farming and especially in the older ways with lose silage with the class 75 jag witch still works to this day and operates just more to it these ways , looking at the classic methods of it , as far as im aware the old ford and both McCormick's are still in use working very well as well as the ld case we had on the rake , dont know if you seen it but MASSEY FERGUSON 135 we had for scraping out has ended up in a private collection now witch is unexpected but very nice that it still looked after , anyways in the end its starter motor was packed in cause of the cold weather and we couldn't get the parts for it but it is what it is , anyways mate have a good one , be nice to see some more of the footage if you still have any , i know its been a while but one can hope :)
I remember watching this when I was a toddler. While 2 tractors rake up the grass, another tractor with a small forager attaches to the left rear arrives and harvests the silage that can be used to feed the animals in the winter.
you have so many videos ... gonna take me ages to look at them all :) O yes very nice quality its nice to see green fields not the brown ones we have out here
a great video of all the goings on in this video and the trail harvester does a great job Love to watch the older slower way of doing things. The man doing the raking I can see he takes pride in his job! see how straight the rows are all over the field!
These climates are so humid and the chance of rain is so great so many times that tedding needs to be done for the grass the dry enough so that silage can be made properly.
Because turns with the tedder are bad for the PTO, but that isnt the biggest problem (if you lubricate well and have a quality PTO shaft for wide angle). You get piles of grass on your inside corner because it throws the grass too far away and on the outside corners the grass isnt getting thrown away enough so your putting it back in rows.
+Gregory Salvatore How can you say that, Gregory, when there are umpteen different states all dong different things, in different ways, and different climate.
Very nice! I love to see video's of trailed harvesters as there isn't many around now a days. There is a lovely not of that harvester too, she seems to be running very well. Great video lad!
Toe ndamc79 Yes, there's more. I think it was only tractors and drivers that were borrowed. I know the rake, Claas, Fellas and the two 115s were owned by the "Home" farm.
To TheMattmooo I didn't ask. Maybe he wanted to avoid messing up the outside runs? And avoid straining the mechanism which is not perhaps made for right-angled corners? I know PTOs don't like it.
@balmesh yes, my TS115 is as nice except for some rust on the front rims which i hope to get sandblasted and then painted. Both are the same age with the same hours and cared for!
To tractorman754 As you may have seen from other videos, I prefer to keep anonymous the farms I'm allowed to make videos on. If you talk to your mate you may find out . . . . ?
what new holland was that on the tedder? love the video, had an mtx120 lovely bit of grunt with them, and nice to its not far from me down in Pembrokeshire.👍
Always been curious as to why it's called lifting. First it runs grass, corn or whatever though a chopper than as a by product it is thrown or blown as I would say. Nothing gets lifted.
Don't be silly. All the grass is lifted - about 15' into the air in order to get into the trailers! Further more the trailers are lifting the grass back to the farm - have you never asked for a "lift" when you want a ride somewhere?
This may be a long shot, but did you recently delete a video titled “silage 2010” or something similar? My 2yo daughter is obsessed with it and it now says deleted by uploaded!
@@balmesh doubt you will remember me mate but i was working on this farm at the time , sadly we we have recently sold the farm but its briliant that i can go and watch these videos of those days , miss being in glantoddeb , love it there

Thought I’d look back on this one after a few years. Still one of your best, a belter of a video Alan.
Thanks David. Yes, I still watch it from time to time - happy days!
That McCormick sounds lush and its munching through the grass at a fair rate, cracking video yet again, 5*

You're lucky! I can't remember anything from being a toddler!!
While it is old, this has to be one of the best silaging videos i've seen on youtube. Top Job :)

Yes, aerating is part of it. Spreading it out so the sun and the wind can get at it all, is another part of it.
absolutly love it balmesh we do our own silage at home 2. we have 2 trailed harvesters
Thanks Tully. I'm hoping to be able to get back for the second cut, this year.
Stunning!
Thank you! Cheers!

Very good for my kids to see how it’s done, tractors and their gear are very interesting to 4 year olds! ( and me..)
Thanks

Racing Slippers McCormicks are going well although we had a change head gasket on the mtx but good again now.
Lovely hum out of the harvester and no tacky back round music where is this?

Loads more. Yes, it's a great set up. Hoping to get back for some combining this week . . .

That sounds great. Can you get to film it?

Then it must be nice to see another as well cared for as yours is? Do we get to see it?
Carmarthenshire, I'm afraid. Second-hand gear?
It's complicated as I use three editors. Magix Easy HD, Corel Photostudio and windows Movie Maker.
what do you edit video with mate by the way love the vids

Well, McCormick officially, but they go well together? Is your 115 as neat?

No, I haven't deleted a video for years! But all the silage videos, that year were titled "Silage '10 - and something further.
WOW Alan, thats some setup and so well kept. Which machines are belonging to the neighbours? Is there more?
👍👍👍👍👍👍
::::))))
You dont need massive kit to make good silage
Indeed, that is so true!
any idea why they are tedding it? thought you only ted it to dry it out to make hay?
Is this in Llangadog? because this kit sounds exactly like my mates?
To jordankeeps
Genuine Carmarthenshire country! There's loads of it round here and it is amazing!
@balmesh very soon, have some second cut videos to put up
Why is the silage tedded out? Could it not be raked straight away? Or is it too thick or something?
It's not silage - it's grass. It's tedded to help it to condition.
Ty😅
Cheers!
why lifted the tedder up on the headland
why do they always ted there silage out
where are you from, great video, well done
