    Incredibly thoughtful review. Thank you for insight on the pinch weld contact point. Very difficult to find any other videos showing any of the blocks contacting the weld points.

    Best QJ review I've seen. Thanks for making it!

    Nice review! I agree with your frustration of aligning the slots in the pinch weld blocks with the pinch welds on the car. I have a Miata with low ground clearance which only adds to the problem. My solution was to stack the pinch weld blocks on top of the regular blocks that ship with the product. Problem solved. I can now accurately align the pinch blocks, plus I gain some additional lift height.

    On Amazon there are several versions of magnetic pinch weld blocks that’ll mitigate the alignment problems. Stick the pucks to the lift points on the pinch weld then align the QJ frames with flat blocks underneath each puck to give proper clearance and eliminate the metal on metal contact.

      Oh so you mean attach the magnetic weld blocks to the pinches and then lift those up with the included QuickJack non-slotted squares?

    About the design for the blocks, it's because tehcnicalyl you can use the falt block on a pinch weld. I think it's older cars people use groove to avoid rusted spots to break off. But yeah great video I'm about to buy mine, they went up in price since the last year or so should've pulled the trigger much sooner... ahh oh well. 2300$ tax in for the 7000-TL with the SUV/Truck adapters.

    3:45 Costco had the 7000TL for $1,599 back in May 2022. Canadian Tire has started to stock the 5000TL for $1,699 as a “special buy”.

    8:10 the rubber blocks are good for any older vehicle with a ladder frame.
    9:45 The rectangular QJ pinch weld blocks are a) too short (3in) like you demonstrate and b) have too shallow a notch for an Audi (1in needed). The latest rounded pinch weld blocks from QJ are even shorter at 2.5in. While there are BOLDED warnings in the manual about not lifting the body against the frame, their blocks don’t take pinch welds into account!!!

    I just picked up a used set of the 5000slx jacks from a guy on Kijiji. Super excited to lift my Audi. Can I buy the pinch weld blocks local in Edmonton?

      Congrats. I think you can get them through Napa but I got both the blocks and jack hangers through Summit.

    What light are you using on your S4? (the one attached to the hood pointing down)

      It's an older MotoMaster work light I got from Canadian Tire years ago that they no longer sell. Mine has 3 rows of LEDs and is really helpful, although the charging cord tends to get in the way. It's very similar to: geni.us/under-hood-work-light.

    Let’s say for academics sake, we ask the question of - will this model lift a short wheel base vehicle (e.g. Fiero, MR2)? These vehicles have a wheelbase < 95”.

    • @FigureItAudi
      @FigureItAudi  3 года назад

      I happen to be in the garage and upon a quick measure, you could have a car with *jack points* along the frame as close together as 38" (accounting for some jack block width) in the closest tray positions on the 5000slx. And collapsed, the entire unit is less than your 9X" wheelbase so, I don't foresee a problem for you.

    • @Slowcarfastbeans
      @Slowcarfastbeans 3 года назад

      And no risk to picking up the vehicle by the tyres (or binding the wheel if the intent was to remove it for service)?

    • @FigureItAudi
      @FigureItAudi  3 года назад +1

      @@Slowcarfastbeans This lift isn't designed to lift a car from the wheels - it has to be from the frame rail or some other structural, fixed position. But, once the car is off the ground, no, it won't bind any suspension components or get in the way of removing a wheel.
