- Chris Parker from Asheville Fungi demonstrates how to make mushroom totems with Chicken-of-the-woods and wild cherry wood. Mushroom totems are one of the easiest and quickest ways to inoculate logs and grow mushrooms for many years.
Great video Chris! I really enjoyed the Mushroom Master Class last weekend. Looking forward to more!
great video, I do this also but I use 6" wide grafting tape on the inoculated joints because the bugs will get in real fast.
if anyone is wondering why the cardboard & first sawdust spawn layer is put down on the ground, its because fungi will produce an enzyme to repel other fungi when they come into contact with each other creating a natural chemical barrier between the two or more types of fungi & giving a chance for your fungi to outgrow its competitors.

I'm gonna be living in this area soon, would love to learn!

Curious how this turned out. Should be fruiting here in the next month or 2? Maybe an update video.
Yes! Thank you for checking in. They’re not fruiting yet but we will post an update when they do
@@forestfarmacy9045 has this worked for you before with COW? I have been treating my logs by boiling or PCing and I'm getting really good colonization. but this would be the first success that I've seen without those steps
