Mr. Chan...As a kid, I saw bonsai for the first time in a book of yours my father owned...fell in love with the art instantly...I have my own (self made) collection now...all thanks to you...with trees of about 20 years of training...thank you for passing knowledge and passion... Cheers Dave
I've watched these all day cause for some reason my interest peaked and I am now convinced that I am oging to do this for a hobby You're amazing and so much fun to watch. thank you Mr. Chan :)
1:35 spoken like a true magician, though I prefer this even more. It´s amazing that the wiring has only been used for such a short term, now I admire the ancient bonsai makers even more.
Hello there. New enthusiast here, I have been watching your videos and had a question about wiring. Is wiring a tree necessary? I have come across a nice Japanese Black Pine specimen, and I don't want to use wire if not needed, and wanted the tree to grow "naturally" while still confined to the pot, and pruning. I would love to see how the tree gives its own personality, instead of imprinting mine.
Thanks again for another simple yet extremely informative video! how long can the wiring be left on before it needs to be removed so the tree doesn't grow into it?
Nice channel ,love all your work too..but please make the audio clearer and louder (closer mic maybe?).. So we can hear better the explanations.. Regards
Yes I have tried 7 larch trees plucked from the woods and the side of the road and while 2 died I’ve managed to keep 5 alive for 2 years in a small planter so far.
Larches do NOT backbud so don't let low branches die back otherwise you have nothing to cut back to in order to get taper. I can't believe a 'pro' is implying they do!
@union310 @union310 It is not disrespectful to quote facts. New branches can only grow from existing buds on Larch. Once these are removed (through poor pruning, shading or apical weakening) Larch will not produce adventitious buds. I know this because I have developed Larch bonsai for over 20 years. If I asked for your experience I know it will be 'very little to non existent' due to the obvious ignorance of your comments. Please do some research before responding - it would be nice if you could apologize.
@@tomekeziowski4293 Yes I am - these were already present, dormant buds. Show me a bonsai Larch that backbudded, ie with no visible buds present. I've been growing Larch for 30 years. Do you have a link to your bonsai Larch ? I have several posted on Reddit under u/Paulpash.

I like this man. I want to be his friend.
Sound! Please, we cannot hear you.
Would a North American larch work for this too?
What software do you use to edit your videos?
Totally screwed up my two branch principal. Forgot the other branch. fml.
3 minutes ? Really !!! Whats the rush ... its meant to be art ...
Let me guess, sell it for £100? Herons have a history of selling sticks in pots for hundreds of pounds to the uninitiated
He will want at least £250 for this Tom Tom.
Hihi!
For someone without content and no real name you seem to have a lot of knowledge.
Bonsai troll with an agenda?
