Robert Gallo, the discoverer of the HIV virus, is pressed in court in 2007 over the evidence of his discovery.
Below are the original judicial documents from the trial that took place in Australia (2007) against a citizen accused of knowingly transmitting the virus, and defended by researchers from the Perth group, who states: that the research on AIDS, which lasted two decades, has failed to submit a purified HIV isolate, has also failed to submit validation of so-called HIV tests, nor any evidence that HIV is transmitted through body fluids, and can and should produce immunodeficiency.

Among the transcripts of Gallo's statements there are some interesting passages, in particular on p. 1294, where a clash between Gallo and the prosecution takes place on an original study published in Nature (May 1986) in which he would have found "evidence of HIV" in only 40% of AIDS patients, and that 40% is not enough to prove that hypothetical HIV is the cause of AIDS.
These claims of Gallo are often extrapolated from judicial documents, in a somewhat specious way, by supporters of the hypothesis that behind the virus there is a pharmaceutical scam.
In fact, extracted from the context, certain sentences may appear as a confession of guilt, but if the testimony is read in its entirety, one realizes that the testimony is reduced to a diatribe on inaccurate data and technical notions, in which Gallus defends himself with his head held high.
Towards the end of the document the tones are raised and one has a bit the impression that the prosecution forces Gallo in an attempt to get out of his mouth words he would not want.
