- Habibati! Nightwish have done it again and caught be completely off guard! 'Sleeping Sun' is magic personified. It puts the band on a completely different level for me and I couldn't be happier about it. It's like these guys know exactly what to do to keep me interested and captivated with every piece of music they release. Still waiting for a song that isn't amazing so I know that they are actually human.

that amazes me, as Dutch person, so much. Most Dutchies know her from that program, while she is active for 20+ years ;) Unfortunatly only rap hiphop and modern stuff is allowed on the radio. I am a metalhead for 20 years. Born in the wrong country :D See how many amazing skilled and worldwide famous female Dutch singers we have in symphonic metal, Floor, Simone, Anneke, Sharon....and the list is much longer. Except in this stupid musically intolerant country.
I feel you man. Every time I watch Nightwish epic live performance I feel mostly sad that I've missed it. Of course apart from being amazed by it. But as you have mentioned it is a good and necessary feeling.
The first nightwish-song I loved! This is a great version, even if it is Tarja`s original I fell in love with.

My wake up alarm for the last 15 years. It's maybe odd that I wake up every day with such a soft song talking about a sleeping sun, but maybe it's not about my body waking up. Maybe my soul needs this song every day. The only odd thing is that after listening to this song tenths of thousands of times, a tear dropped when I saw your reaction video. I' m getting crazy right?
This is one of those songs where it is also a wonderful, if different, experience to go back and watch Tarja's version from End of an Era 2005. She has a different spin on it, but I think it is equally beautiful and elegant.

Marko plays a mean bassline in this song. Thuomus's keyboard resembles the Exorcist theme Tubular Bells.
Much better, much more expressive than the original bassline on the 1998 recording. Marco really added to this one a lot.

This song is about the total solar eclipse in Europe 1999. It always takes me back to that magical moment. It was so surreal. And I shared the moment with total strangers in the streets who were just as blown away as me. So this song is a special one to me.

This song is for many of us the healing song after losing a loved one. The sadness you feel might also be that energy connected to this song. I had it on repeat while walking the doggies in the dunes after my beautiful sister died, she was a beam of light, too sensitive for all the pain and misery in the world, she had no filters to protect herself, a broken angel who tried to fix other broken ones, a sun for all who loved her.. a sleeping sun.

I get what you said about a missed time thing. The 2018 Buenos Aires show that was so epic was about 20 blocks away from my home (I actually live in Buenos Aires) and almost didn't knew Nightwish by then. Now I love them and I feel that bitterswitness that you're talking about.

The shows will return and we will all have our opportunities to go see them. Meanwhile, their virtual concert in March seems like it will be amazing on multiple levels. Two shows, two days, two different setlists. In a virtual interactive environment. I've not been into the idea of a "virtual" concert until now.

Amusing as always. I totally get what you mean when you say it's a sad song. Upon further listens, I've realized it's not sadness I'm feeling but peace. In a life full of goings-on, stress, and urgency, feeling peace is so foreign and EMPTY. I wouldn't assume that's the same for everyone, but that's how my take evolved on this song.

Sleeping sun is one of my all time favorites, because it gives me chills every time I hear it and Floor's version in Tampere is imo the best one.
