I've been grappling/doing brazilian jiu jitsu for 23 years. I'm a black belt. And I still intentionally watch videos like this every couple weeks to remind me how horrible I am at grappling.
Nobody cares.
Dude, as a wrestler for 8 years, us wrestlers are brother with Brazilian jiu jitsu. You are great with grappling if you are a black belt. Keep your head up. I have very low confidence In myself but when I see others with low confidence I feel terrible. Keep your head up my friend. Keep kicking ass!

Nope your not horrible and grappling, you aren’t a wrestler + the Russians are a different breed.
The technical level is just off the charts. I mean incredible, I am blown away.I've wrestled for almost three years and what I just witnessed is nothing short of incredible. The way some of these guys fend off shots only to be reversed then still finding a way to shoot off reversals is mind-blowing. If you've never wrestled or grappled,it's near impossible to appreciate how hard it is to accomplish that at such high level. "la creme de la creme" right here.All these guys,winners or losers,are straight BEASTS. It's a feast for the eyes for all who love grappling arts. I could watch shit like that for hours on end.
Southern Russians also put their style of grappling/wrestling better into mma better than any one else.... NCAA, jiu jitsu, judo catch wrestlers etc You are right.... these guys are unreal
@@seanredman5311 Yeah,all these dagestanis,chechens,ossetians are absolute freaks of nature.I've wrestled with some of these guys,they're unbelievably good even for the ones who never make it to the highest level. The depth of their talent pool is unreal.
@@galoobigboi no doubt. I saw them and trained with a few in Thailand 🇹🇭 and Outer Mongolia 🇲🇳. They just make you want to keep working. Side note.... Khabib’ should just get jacked and do movies While just training and promoting his guys👍👍👍👍
@@seanredman5311 Haha,maybe he will,but knowing these guys's mentality,it ain't happening. He's rich allready, and combat sports are his life. he's opened a breach now, and we'll see plenty more of guys like him in the coming years.It'll be interesting to see how the competition adapts.

there whole bunch of different republics: yakutia, ossetia, tyva etc. but yes, there is barely any slavic wrestler involved😃

Whenever I see the Green blue and red (Dagestan) I think it's that guys highlight even if he is in a bad position, and I'm right most of the time. Crazy the talent in Dagestan.
It’s not only dagestanis that are good it’s the whole team because a lot of them aren’t actually from there but just wrestle there to train with other great wrestlers

I think some of them are doing that NOW!😨 I think of Khabib and his group (Islam, Ibrahim, etc.)! These guys have been wrestling since they were toddlers!👶🏻💪🏼😬🤼♂️ I wish I had been better at wrestling; didn't make it past high school varsity. It's hard to make a living in this sport, though.🤔
Not nesscarrliy, its a good base but not 100%. The Tank is an incredible wrestler but if he cant get the hang of going to his back and doing BJJ, or if he cant strike he's gonna get merked. Those takedowns mean nothing if a) he cant control someone with BJJ and b) they piece him up on the feet
@Sean Jamieson True, but I think it's fair to not jump the gun. I mean if the tank can strike and do BJJ and wrestle like that then he'll be a monster
@Sean Jamieson Track record? Its just Khabib and that's it. Maybe Islam(though I don't buy into the hype). As a wrestler myself while it is a good base for MMA i always get uncomfortable around comments like the OP considering the numerous other factors
@@wergar_the_warwolf6834 Islam and khabib have Sambo background. It is just wrestling is a part of the heritage in that region of the world, that's why there s many grapplers from Armenia chechenya Georgia and Dagestan in mma

Dan Gable said that the US focuses on conditioning and Russia focuses on the scientific part of wrestling.
They just put alot more money behind their guys. The top athletes are given stipends and don't have to work or worry about money. When Gable says Russians, he may mean Caucasians ie Dagenstanis and Chechens. Although the Russians of his time were Soviets which is also different than just Russians.
