Congrats on completing the 9+1! I'm going to try to complete the 9+1 for next year and I just finished my first race in 26 years with the Ted Corbitt 15K. You really inspire me to keep pushing
Thank you! Awesome! Yea start early with scheduling so you aren't rushing to finish at the end of the year for a 9th like me!
Congratulations Christian good to see you back running. I ran this race today as well. Very cold day but I love running this park because its in my old neighborhood. I have one more race to complete my 9+1 and then I will be ready for my first full marathon.
Are you doing the Midnight run to wrap up this year's 9+1?
Yes as a new running i can’t think of no other way the bring in the new year.
Congratulations Christian!
Nice run ! Good to see you back out there .. all the way to Brooklyn !
Thanks, yea long trip but needed that last race haha
Aw thanks for yet another cameo 😂
You run all the races!
Congratulations. See you in Berlin next year
Can't wait!
Thanks for the video, brought back memories of running in prospect park about 60 years ago training for high school cross country. Running wasn't a popular sport then and I'm glad to see it's current popularity. Sorry to hear about your health issues, hope they won't inhibit your running because you obviously love the sport. Still competing at 75 and thankful for the ability to do so
That's awesome!
Well done on the 9+1! Ran the Frosty myself and while 🥶 before and a bit after, still had a blast!
It was so cold when standing still!
They tell me that I have to run New York someday. They treat you like a rock star. Congratulations on your guaranteed bib. You look strong in your run.
Looks like it was a nice race despite the temperature, I wanted to enter but missed the cutoff. It would have been a good warm-up for the Kleinerman 10K in January.
Yea very cold before the sun came up too. Even just an hour early was a bit much waiting around.
Congrats on completing the 9+1. I was really looking forward to this race but a calf injury sent me to the bench
Oh no, ouch!
Well done Christian and I hope your hands have now warmed up 👍🏻😃
They're getting used to it now!
If I can ever afford to make it to New York for the marathon, I’m going to need you there to show me around!!!
I'll do my best to point you in all the right directions!
Congrats on your 9+1 Christian!!!! 🙌 GREAT to see out out there! BTW down hills are boring! 🤣🤣🤣
Sometimes you need a little boring mixed with your uphills lol
@@ChristianRunsNY you're totally right! 😁
I went to the park to do my own training right after the race finished. It was a cold one!! Glad you're doing better!
Nice job!
Good stuff Christian! Hows the traffic coming into the city from Beacon? Having to deal with 95 coming in from CT always induces nightmares 😅
Thanks! It's really not bad, I was worried at first when we got a place here, but it takes me about 60 min. to get to Central Park for most races or my office. Brooklyn surprisingly was only about 75 minutes. So the distance is traveled pretty fast
I ran it too! Although I was farther back
Good clear cold day for a morning 5k!
It was my first time doing a 5k outside of running around my block, I was not used to the elevation, and I might have not warmed up enough. It was really fun, although I didn't understand the corral system, I think I did semi-good for my first time. I did 34:17, hopefully with practice I can bring it down closer to sub 30.
Congratulations! The corrals put us in order from fastest to slowest so nobody is in anyone’s way. You can check on NYRR for what 10k times put you in which letter, and it automatically will take your new 5k time and convert it to a 10k estimate.
That park is not a joke I recently run PPTTC cherry 10 miler those hills killed me
For a pretty flat city, these hills surprise me for sure.
Solid 5K. Well done
The ‘Frosty’ nature of the run reminded me to ask you if you have any advice around what clothing to wear for a race in colder temperatures. I have only ever raced in moderately cool temps in the Southern Hemisphere and was looking for guidance specifically for the NYC Half in March next year. I have only ever raced in singlet and shorts. Is that possible in March in NY? Thanks Martin
Usually it is fine and you'll see singlets and shorts. Depends on what you are used to but it's usually in the 40s by running time so for a full half at race pace I'd bundle up in throw away clothes and you get down to maybe a pair of gloves for the race itself. Any colder and you may see some long sleeve race shirts, usually still shorts for the NYC half in particular. Colder than that and I'd go long tights. Hard to feel loose and race ready in many too many layers.
@@ChristianRunsNY Thanks Christian. That’s helpful.
