I’m convinced my grandfather added a decade or more to his life by staying busy and exercising. The stubborn ww2 vet continued working and going to the gym despite having a myriad of health problems up until his final year aged 93. He also moderately indulged in vices and continued to take vacations so maybe that helps as well.
Hi Ben: How does the evaluation of factors based value funds, which are technically not passive index funds, fall within the 5 areas of advice? I have found that many, if not most, financial advisors embrace the “solved investment problem” by recommending only broad market index funds for a portfolio. Anything that smacks of active investing seems to be taboo nowadays. Thanks in advance, Bob
Concept of enough is actually core part of achieving financial independence. I am reading Your Money or Your Life from Vicky Robin and Joe Dominguez. They are one of the pioneers of FI and their book is like a FI bible (released originaly 25 years ago). Enough is one of the core ideas. You need to find your sweet spot. A place where you have enough. More will make feel worse and less will make you feel worse. I am only in the middle of the book but so far to help you achieve this place of enough, you need to make conscious choices about your purchases (and they have steps to help you achiev this) and you need to reflect on how they make you feel and if they help you achieve your goals, if they align with your values and your purpose. This seems like the introspection and reflection that Ben is talking about.
Coming up with your "Enough," really digging into what you want, what makes you truly happy, is one of the two best outcomes of taking a walk on the FIRE side, whether you actually engage in it or not. The other best outcome is learning to live below your means, which is the only to save even a single dollar for any goal.
Just wanted to say thank you guys so much! I have listened to the 15 most recent or so but decided to go back and start from the beginning. I’m 73 in and still going strong.
How about engaging with a financial adviser who first & foremost helps you explore your purpose, your values, what’s important to you in life in general and how that relates to their financial situation is the measure for knowing you are dealing with the “right” financial expert….
I pray everyone who reads this becomes extremely successful and encounter a kind of blessings that will overcome your fears! Spend less and invest more
Thank you guys for the discussion! Really enjoy it. I urge you to formalise these non-guest episodes into a book. A lot of gems there. Happy Birthday Cam!
Happy birthday Cameron! Where can I get t-shirt like yours? Your shop only offers black color. I would like to order one in red. Also Paul Merrymans book "Weŕe talking milions" is laying on my nightstand. I am reading Your money or your life now, but Paul Merryman is next!
The red shirt was a one-off that we received as a sample, but ended up not being available for purchase for us. We have the red hoodie if that suits you. We are looking at merch options for spring now. Maybe we need a brighter shirt option. Thanks for the feedback. Watch for the AMA with Paul Merriman May 4th.
I find it so weird that they didn’t really speak on the lending question from the first card. Like the objective function of investment is lending for return but their minds seemed to focus on their nuclear/tangible interactions with lending... very cool cards! Now I want them :D!

I'm so grateful for the existence of this podcast. This has been yet another amazing episode. Great work!

Thanks so much. I can't believe I am 55.
@@cameronpassmore1561 You´re only as old as you feel 😁. Well not for retirement planning but it´s the spirit what counts I guess.
@@stefanberger2421 I really could not care less about my age. I feel great and am surrounded by incredible young talent. Am very grateful.
@@cameronpassmore1561 yeah that's what I meant, that's the spirit 😊

Thanks so much.
Internal locus of control is an important (and overlooked) concept that I consider paramount in my financial / life success
The way Ben described his home buying process is almost too on the nose
in what sense

Hey, thanks so much. We are looking at the book idea to possibly coincide with the 200th episode. Ben and I just need to find the time :)

I was certain the quote from 1:01:50 was Grant Cardone
After your interview with Robb Engen I got a plan from him and it really helped me set my priorities and stick to my plan.
