It’s driving me crazy. I’m wondering if it’s because the aftermarket Moog and Duralast stuff I’ve put on is spec for the civilian models and it can’t handle the bigger sway bar? I don’t know and I’ve replaced the entire front suspension at this point. Even the sway bar suspecting it was bent. *Intake manifold failed on me this month and caused insane misfiring. I own a 2010 CVPI and it is a retired Maine State Police unit. I have done the transmission replacement and rear end replacement both from an 09" CVPI which had 108k. I currently have 269k and she'll still walk sideways and she has full on Posi. she needs struts and the exhaust fixed ( Maine winters are Hard) but she has been very dependable. Little history: It was bought new in Late 2009. She sat at the MSP motor pool til early 2011 when it got put into service for 6mo's on a stretch of 95 between Sabattus, Maine and Augusta, Maine. The assigned Trooper then got assigned to our Governors detail as an Escort 2011 til 2017. So for most of it's service career she just traveled every where the Governor went. It was bought at Auction in well maintained condition. I am the 2nd private owner of this car, unfortunately the person who bought it from the Auction was rough on her. I Love this car and will and plan to keep her for the near future. I would by another. Hope you enjoy this comment.
I started driving Panthers when I was 16 and have never stopped driving them. I own other nice vehicles and drive them as well but nothing beats the rugged reliability of a Panther.
I worked it backwards. Started with the Lincoln(99), then Grand Maqui (03)and now a P71(06). It's my big dumb toy (third car). Tires from drifting in the most expensive thing so far. Bought it with 85K miles; 104K after five years of ownership. Transmission was replaced (@75K)while it was in service. I can't believe you got a speeding ticket. I've passed cops and only got a nod. lol
I have both 2010 crown Victoria and a Impala. I gotta say the Crow Vic takes the W. Maintenance is a thing with these but that's every car. I remember the old school cars used to have spotlights. I missed that look so I decided to leave them on. Plus I live in Houston and hurricanes is a thing down here so it would come in clutch in a power out. Vic is the best car I've ever owned. expect to change the transmission. I would say installing the push bar is worth it. I got into a fender bender not even a month after and it saved my ride.
Watch out for Trans Fuel pump Fake Vics Seals on the axels Axels Cooler Shaft seal( 10 dollar part can cost you a trans ) Oil seals that run behind the oil filter. I know i missing more but thats what i have encountered. Besides maintenance like suspension or ball joints.
I run the Douglas performance tires on my 07 black and white, same speed rating as the Goodyear Eagles but better weight rating, I use it as a pov emergency response vehicle as I work for my local FD so she does see 100mph
Vital to have a long term mechanic that works with you. ASK A LOT OF QUESTIONS AND PAY ATTENTION. Everything takes care, but some things go last longer such as these cars.
@Tayd0g I'm actually looking to get the fluids changed on mine but I was going to have them all flushed. Now I'm a bit afraid. You aren't the first person I've heard say a flush could be bad for an old transmission. Mine isn't slipping, yet.. It's 104,350 miles I have no idea when transmission fluid was last changed. You think just draining and refilling is the better thing to do? And what about the differential fluid, is there any risk flushing that?
@@cjsnidlio9409 for diff fluid I have no idea. But I all Ive heard is that with older trans its better to drain and fill. I mean mine kicked the bucket only days after I filmed this video which was filmed right after it was flushed so maybe theres some truth to that 🤷♂️
Seems like yours was ridden hard before you got it. I drove one for almost 4 years only problem I had was leaking oil from the cooler and valve covers but I just kept it topped off. I just got into a different one because some jerk turned left right in front of me and totaled it.
hey man great video but if the intake manifold goes out again - do it yourself. it really isn't a tough job and it's a good opportunity to clean the injectors and just get to know everything in there
Intermittent starting issue could be your crankshaft position sensor. Happened on my 95 Town Car... if the car was in just the right position, it wouldn't start.
I get a chirping noise sometimes when I start the engine in my 2008 Cvpi I’ve narrowed it down to the top of the motor near where the alternator is, is it likely that it’s that pulley?
It could be if it’s not the belt. It could also be bearings inside the alternator. If it’s old and crusty i’d just replace the whole thing and replace your belt while youve got it off.
Mine does the same thing it starts in neutral sometimes but I figure it out. There is a fuse box inside the car under steering wheel. Were you unlatch the hood this might sound dumb but take five fingers and push up on all the fuses and your car will start I have no idea why it does that but I'm thinking when you get out the car you might hit it and you not knowing because I thought it was my safety neutral switch I have no idea why it does that it is confusing me i'm going to make a video about this. Maybe somebody can figure it out.
Love the Vick! I have 3 Crown Vicks, an 04' LX Sport, 05' LX and a 2010 NM State Interceptor. I have the same issues on my 2010, the Safety Neutral switch and my work around is to hold the shifter up and she'll start everytime, the air bag light issue comes from the steering wheel needs to be perfectly clocked strait, the sensor is telling the ECM that if the air bag is not strait it'll kill you blowing off! ruclips.net/video/Wii2_JzhOCc/видео.html&t
The shop was blatantly wrong about the Mercon V. I suspect it was attempt to cause further purposeful damage to your transmission so that you would return for future repairs. I have a 2011 CVPI and when doing a transmission fluid change , I will do it myself. It's not difficult. Wj Handy Dad has a video on how to do it. ruclips.net/video/HP7YTIm4uME/видео.html I don't particularly trust shops as more than one has tried to rip me off and sell me things that my police interceptor is "required" to have since the components aren't civilian compatible (which is horse hockey). They both take the same fluids and mechanical components, the only difference is ride height, transmission shift points and beefier suspension. The airbag light is a minor fix. The bulb burns out and the airbag light on the cluster comes on. That's all it is. You can replace the bulb with an led (for longevity), the same bulb used for the headlight switch indicator is used for the airbag. Another how to video: ruclips.net/video/m-z2TfRlpI8/видео.html The standard police tires are Goodyear Eagle RSA. They have great dry weather, high speed traction but that's about it. very poor wet weather traction (which is why you don't often see cops in high speed chases in wet weather). Everyone I know who has a CVPI replaces the tires immediately. I myself use Falken 235/55/R17 They're comparable to Continental, BF Goodrich and the other higher priced tires. Falken is a Japanese company that makes racing tires. The dipping down on the sides (brake pads) is OEM. They're supposed to be that way. On the cars ALWAYS go with OEM/Motorcraft. If you don't you will be replacing parts already purchased in a short time. FordBossMe is a certified Ford mechanic and he owns a Panther car. He has several videos on this platform. Then there's Panzer Platform (Chuck McCoy), WJ Handy Dad (a Texas judge), BST Ford Channel, & Hollywood Hornet to name a few. I have a 2011 CVPI that came from the Riverside County PD and had 68k on the odomoeter when I got her. Relatively maintenance free, only had to change the thermostat, battery (dead cell), four new tires and change all the fluids. Mine is black with the dual spotlights (I have a walk around video on my channel). All in all a dependable car. No complaints.

I think with vics now there’s a drug dealer effect. Where modern vic owners are seen as up to no good

Hey thanks Chuck!
Can’t wait till I drop my video 😬

What leds did you use for your headlights?
I don’t remember, it was whatever basic bulb was on sale at Advance Auto. I recall it being fairly expensive though.
