I think Chad deserves massive respect for his constant drive for high quality. IMO he has inspired other companies to push the quality of their own record production And I thank him for this
Chad, 1990s legit classics: - IN UTERO, - USE YOUR ILLUSION 1 and 2 - SIAMESE DREAM, - METALLICA - SUPERUNKNOWN, - BLOOD SUGAR SEX MAGIK, - DIRT, - THE DOWNWARD SPIRAL - ASTROCREEP 2000 - GARBAGE Thanks for everything you do. My company’s mantra is “Never Compromise.” It’s the mantra of your vinyl empire, too, and we’re all grateful.
I would immediately pre-order most of those records if Acoustic Sounds were able to release them. I doubt there are analog sources for many of them, however.
@@calebkeen8967 You might be right. I think we know the first seven were recorded to tape, though. The only reason I suspect Garbage's debut might've also been recorded to tape is it was engineered by their drummer, the legendary Butch Vig, whose best records were definitely on tape. I actually don't know if Trent Reznor records digital or analogue, but he is a self-avowed analogue afficionado, at least in so far as the vinyl medium is concerned. Rob Zombie may have gone full digital in the 90s. I think most of these artists would be interested in the premier AP treatment, especially seeing how successful UHQRs have been.
Agreed! The quality of the mastering and pressings is way above what anyone else is doing. The 75th Atlantic series is killer. Just got the self-titled Bad Co album and it’s unbelievable!
Great conversation. I was born in 62 with three older brothers born from 49 on. I agree with your taste on what you want to make completely. I listen to mostly classic rock from the 60’s up to mid 70’s with some blues and jazz from the 50’s and 60’s. The modern artist who I think would be worth your time is Lydia Loveless. Her two CDs/LPs you should hear first are “Something Else” and “Real”. Audiophile remasters would be epic. Monk plays Ellington would sell a lot for a jazz release .
This interview was outstanding, it taught me so much and now I have a new vinyl maker I’ll looking to purchase from. If you have another other record makers to recommend please do by all means! I’m just getting back into records after being out of the loop for 30+ years and need help. Thank you for making this video!
Ken thanks for having Chad discuss some upcoming projects. Making the best is easy as Chad always does it just takes time and money not cheapening out and try to make it sound good! I commit to all his releases and purchase from his catalog of others because of that. He picks mostly every top music artists that deserve only doing the best and that's his ethics, still the labels don't get it! When you buy the best you're never disappointed, The Who's Next 50th deserved the best possible vinyl release, what we get is a cobbled up mix hodge podge, some 1/2 speed, plangent process, who's on first, what is the code of conduct or direction? Not even equalling Pete's Lifehouse CD box from 2000. Thanks Ken and Chad for both your hard work bring each of your individual talent for us.
Hi, Ken. I saw your Glaess Audio Desk m/c. in the background. A great record clearing device which I happen to known as well. I have met the owner and his coworkers at their little factory in Germany. Very nice and helpful people who are very proud of their one and only product.
Nathan Davis - 6th Sense In The 11th House - This is a great album; a collectors item if there ever was one. It has never been reissued after it came out in 1972 😕
Fun interview...I've purchased many albums from Chad and AP he/they do such a great job, always impressed. The albums I really like, I get both the 33 1/3 and 45's. Recently purchased the SRV box set on 45 and damn its absolutely phenomenal!
… nice interview, Ken. Chad being Chad :-) I prefer any of the AAA Acoustic Sounds/AP reissues to MoFis ‘cause not only of the releases but of the people driving that quality and that they offer a face to the vinyl community. The QRP pressing quality is imo second to RTI in terms of consistency and low need for return. This year I had an unusual high amount of returns, partially twice, mainly due to warpage and ugly distortions. The worst distorted pressing was Holy Cole‘s Temptation 45. The best quality pressings were for me Hooker‘s The Healer 45 and the Faust/Carmen. Many thanks for getting some hints as to future releases’ directions out of Chad.
Lookup Vinyl Gourmet in Portugal, the original EU reseller of all Analogue Productions records for more than 10 years now, lowest priced UHQR in Europe (and most of the world outside the USA actually) ;)
45 RPM 12inch singles are the greatest sounding records out there. I haven't heard 45 RPM albums but I bet when compared to the 33 RPM they would sound amazing. My only issue is the disruption of the original flow of the LP.
Thanks Ken for mentioning my question on CTI to Chad. It would be great if Freddie Hubbard's Red Clay, George Benson's Beyond the Blue Horizon, and Ron Carter's All Blues could be reissued, to name a few of my personal favorites. Hopefully someone will consider reissuing these gems.
Joe Farrell “Outback” is an under the radar CTI release that’s exceptional post bop with the tiniest hint of fusion with Elvin Jones, Chick Corea. RVG recorded it. It’s a great LP and an OG press is only like $10 but sounds like a $100.
There clearly are qc issues with the Atlantic 75 series. I ordered the first two batches and 2 out of the 5 releases had qc issues, warping and off-center pressing. However, Chad is right that AP always works to make things right and provides replacements.
These companies reissue mainstream popular items that are easily found, even cheap, and they sound pretty good in original formats. If you like this type of music of course.
Many of these titles are not easily found. John coltrane debut on prestige? Gene Ammons boss, tenor? The jazz titles they re issue are very hard to find in any kind of decent shape. The pop records are another story.
@@kenmicallefjazzvinylaudiop6455 The Coltrane has been re-issued multiple times and you should be able to find vgplus/NM copies of some of these quite easily for 20$ or so. The Ammons 67 or 87 pressings also not hard to find for 10-20$. It makes sense, financially, or presumably, to only issue more well known records with a larger audience.
Great video as always! If I lived in the US I would buy so much from Chad. It’s affordable with free shipping to boot. Living in Canada makes it ridiculously expensive. Currency conversion , shipping (which is reasonable) and duty (which is extortion) make it so unreasonable. I can only buy a few times a year. The Atlantic 75th came to $170 CDN while Aja cost $300 almost on the nose. Still, his stuff is the best and at a great price if you’re lucky enough to be a yank :)
Thank God for AP, 45 rpm is like SP speed on a VCR 33 is like the EP or SLP speed! Like 30 IPS is better than 15 IPS! Less recording time, better quality, that's the Hallmark of analogue!
Chad and AP do great work. Most 45 RPM will beat their 33 RPM counterparts all things being equal. I do think the difference is most noticeable on albums over 40 minutes but even 36+ minutes. If the OG was cut by Porky/RL/TML/BG at 33 it can be hard for the reissue to top the OG but supposedly Bernie just did it with Aja from a copy tape! Also some of KG recent 33s cuts beat the KG/SH 45s because of upgraded mastering equipment. This could be based on mastering preference as well. So not completely objective.
Those upcoming Atlantic 75th UHQR45's are mostly great titles, many of which I have already. That includes Genesis The Lamb.. . However, Chad, if you would like a customer's feedback on that reissue, please send it my way. My guess is that it will be the new reference version of The Lamb based on what I heard with Selling England By The Pound. I have an OG domestic and UK pressings to compare. That packaging is clever which extends the great work that Hipgnosis did back in 1974.
I dont know Ken I just "tried" to listen to Mastedon, couldnt do it I just dont like that GNR, Motley Crew, etc type of rock. Im more with Chad, '60's '70's rock.
Mastodon is as far away from Guns N’ Roses and Mötley Crüe as Nicki Minaj is from Pink Floyd. The musicianship is super high-level, great compositions, and super atmospheric productions. They just need better vinyl.
Has anyone listened to the new OCJ of Bill Evans vs the AP 45 rom version ? Other channels said the OJC was way better even the jacket was done better . So what is he talking about. Lets talk about the QC issues of the UHQR. Plus the environmental issue with all this extra plastic on these double 45 rpm What about the crazy s&h charges he places on the customer compared to Amazon for the same lp.
I think Chad deserves massive respect for his constant drive for high quality.
IMO he has inspired other companies to push the quality of their own record production
And I thank him for this
He went into vinyls at the peak of CDs about 20 years ago, he is a man of passion.
God bless Chad for his commitment to give us such amazing records and the best pressings. Can’t praise you enough.
You Gotta Love this Guy packaging and all.. Great American QUALITY Manufacturing.
I’m hooked for life. That’s for sure.
Great interview Ken and yes the key to YT channel growth is crazy over the top glasses 😂😂😂
Absolutely!

Screw those whiners. Keep the UHQR format. If you are putting out a high grade, audiophile reissue, it should be special. I love all of mine.

I bet we see Led Zeppelin UHQR titles in 2024
I’d be thrilled to see it, but I’m not holding my breath.
Just a Phenomenal accounting the interview with Chad. I'm excited to see what's ahead.. Thanks Ken
Thanks for getting question in, unfortunately the Michael 45 option works out more expensive. Than buying direct to the uk

I drove up from Dallas to Salina for a Blues Crossroads festival. Took the tour, bought a LOT of records as well. It was a great time Chad.
so nice to hear YOUR CONVERSATION Super nice.
So nice of you
Amazing interview Ken! Great job!!! Thank you
Glad you enjoyed it!
Oh, my Lord! Only "Soulville" by Mr. Webster to 2024. Desolation Jazz lovers. Thanks, Ken, from Spain.

There's a few CTI reissues done by Pure Pleasure in the UK, and although they're not AP quality, still get good reviews
Chad, giv us the first seven studio albums by Iron Maiden on audiophile vinyl, or all Bon Scott albums by AC/DC.👍🙂
Chad Kassem is the Elon Musk of Audio
No he’s not. He has far more integrity than Elon Musk.
Ken- did you really say the Black Metal group Mastodon?
INDEED. lOVE EM
There clearly are qc issues with the Atlantic 75 series. I ordered the first two batches and 2 out of the 5 releases had qc issues, warping and off-center pressing. However, Chad is right that AP always works to make things right and provides replacements.

Look fwd to seeing the uhqr Coltrane review
The only review you need to see is George Borden’s.
How about look sony's master tapes on mexican legendary artist such as Vicente Fernadez, jose jose ,and Javier Solis
Wait? @19:40 Soulville was cut by Grundman, right?
Thanks for getting my question in there, Ken. Great candid interview!
You bet!
Can anyone point me to the Shure cartridge he mentions? Thanks

Woody Shaw
Blackstone Legacy ,Was never possible buy/order in Sweden,Denmark..😢
Check with Michael 45. Do you know his RUclips channel? Chad says he is helping distribute his titles in Europe
M45 won’t have this, it’s a Craft reissue.
Herbie hancock secrets uhqr please chad
Is 45 rpm better? I don’t know it costs more so it probably is. What!?
You should hear it
4:33 doesn't give definitive answer
He spells it out

Crikey…why interrupt him when he’s rattling off upcoming titles?
He spoke of every upcoming title. I didn’t cut that off. But if i didn’t edit this video it would’ve been two hours long. Crikey that!
I guess they need to hire more jacket stuffers because they are way behind.
gis us a job, chad! :)
Has anyone listened to the new OCJ of Bill Evans vs the AP 45 rom version ?
Other channels said the OJC was way better even the jacket was done better . So what is he talking about.

I’ve had absolutely zero issues with my UH QR. I have not heard the Bill Evans OGC versus the 45 RPM. Some people have issues just to have issues.
I have both but no direct comparison. They both sound great! Glad the 33 is out there and is affordable!
WCB Vinyl just did a comparison
Is this what you do try school people on You Tube .
No one cares !
But keep trying JO
