      @@LawVS I dont think Lando mistakes have all been Lando issues. There have been team issues. They have all been in in quali but sending him out too late in Brazil for example was not Landos fault and they did the same to Oscar. Also the the team having to abort his first flying lap with a fuel issues. The rumor is he didnt have enough. Then yellow flags on the third lap left Lando with only one chance which was not successful. Som1/3 Lando 2/3 circumstances. I do think that Lando needs to get a banker lap in rather than go for glory every time. However he is a racer and with .5 splitting the whole field how do you drive a banker?

    The weight of self imposed expectations is a downfall for many men. Oscar is new, and he doesn’t hold himself too highly, so he does what’s needed to be done and doesn’t budge under pressure. It’s all learning for him. Even with his tire management deficit, he doesn’t beat himself too much about it, and I love that. His attitude will carry him further and further. Same with Max. Time and time again he says the same thing. When he got to F1, he said he achieved his dream, and everything else is a bonus. After his first WDC, He repeated the same quote. It’s a healthy mentality

    McLaren have definitely emerged as the team to challenge Red Bull in the next couple of years. I think Lando starting to be more critical of his own performances is a good thing, he's starting to realise as he turns 24 next week that this is about the time he should be taking his driving to the next level. He needs to be more aggressive especially when he's battling a driver like Max, because whilst they're friends off track, Max wouldn't give him the time of day on track, so why should he?

      Lando is maturing into one of the great F1 drivers . He is very self critical but the
      lack of talent comments are always said with a wry smile. Its his defence mechanism and nothing more. He is a very calculating driver , like Lewis, and plays the percentages. He has shown us over the last few races just how hard he can race and overtake and how well he can defend. I have no worries.

That fateful Russia race was crushingly sad to watch as it happened. And then of course, Daniel in Monza. Last year I couldnt help but feel that Lando wasnt quite in a good shape mentally due to these all things. Ive begun to see a shadow of Leclerc in him, eternally disappointed. It will be closer next year. Just about all of the upgrades from McLaren (and others) are pretty much directly applicable to the next car because the regulations aren't changing. Red Bull definitely has an advantage in starting next year's car development earlier, but it's also true that teams start to tighten up the longer a set of regulations are in place.

    I think all of this is just pushing Lando to attaining the skills to become one of the greats. The fact that he's frustrated about not being able to push a car that shouldn't beat the RB19 foe not...beating the RB19 is a testament to his talent imo. Even people hating on him for it are kind of admitting that he is so good that you could almost expect him to fight Max in a worse car. People tend to forget that the mentality that Lando is displaying now is the same one that both Lewis and Max were displaying at similar points in their careers. This is nothing new, it might even be a positive sign despite the negative emotions surrounding it. I seriously think Lando and Max are a step above everyone else, and will be for quite some time. I seriously hope these two get in a title fight soon.

    I think Lando needs to change his attitude if he is going to find a way to win. He still isn't racing Max. Everyone says the Red Bull is too dominant but they still don't get many front row lockouts. Checo is by no means a poor driver and Lando is often faster than one Red Bull. Since Qatar he has been telling everyone there is no chance for a win on any other track which is completely true with that attitude. Honestly if he starts each race thinking he can't beat Max he doesn't deserve to win. Monza 2021 Ricciardo got ahead at the start and held the lead. Luckily the Max and Lewis incident made his job a bit easier but he was keeping them behind. In Qatar Oscar also held on to a lead from the start. Yes you can argue he had a bit of luck with the safety car but he managed to keep a faster car/driver combination behind. Lando doesn't seem to be racing Max, just everyone else. It looked like he might have been going to have a go in Brazil but it didn't last long. In 2019 and 2020 Max was telling us all that given the right car he would be beating Hamilton. Where are the similar comments from Lando? Until his attitude improves the only way he will get a win is if he gets lucky.

    We seem to forget that piastri also made a mistake in Qatar and had the seas part him to get into p2, and lando still caught him. Qatar was really the only chance because of the mandatory pit stops and didn’t let the red bulls have advantage in tire wear like they usually do.

    • @MaxFromSydney1
      @MaxFromSydney1 6 месяцев назад

      But that just highlights the narrative of this video:
      Ricciardo had one great weekend in 2 years at Mclaren and nailed the victory at Monza.
      Oscar gets one lucky break in the Qatar sprint and grabs it with both hands.

They need to take 1-2 and race max hard to block him hoping to get a large lead. Undercuts and over cuts will be the key for them to upset Redbull. I wish that Vegas would work out for them but i don't think they can fire off the tires fast enough. I think he struggles from the added pressure of being in a top car, AD quali only makes that case stronger this year because we never saw this in 2021 or 2022 where he didn't really make any mistakes in quali when he had a less competitive car and stakes were lower. The stakes are higher so more pressure can lead to more mistakes if you can't fully deal with it. But it only happens in qualifying not in the race so it's an interesting case. if McLaren has any chance of challenging Max next year you just cannot be making these mistakes in quali, because it basically prevents you from challenging max for wins and therefore the WDC. Something he has to fix for next year i guess.

      @stupidmemes3955 look at the amount of time lec,stroll, kmag,vettel crashed at some point during a particular season and it was not.on their debut. They said the competition is tougher now because the bar for rookie drivers are set so high because of the amount of talent that f1 recently got like Russell, lec, Norris, albon etc. ...but teams should still cater for ok drivers as they may just need time to develop to be good like checo maybe sargeant and may have been same with Mazepin. Look at also albon when he got into a car that wasn't to his likings and see how bad he did at redbull and now look at him at Williams with not only a drivable car but with experience! So stop with the hate against mazepin just because u dislike him personally because u have no base in why u truly dislike the guy

    I'm just hoping his desperation for a first win won't get to him. We already know what that did to him in Russia 21, and it kinda happened again in Qatar 23 sprint race. Lando knew Qatar sprint was mclaren's best chance for a win this season (full upgrade package and unlike race, tyre deg isn't a big problem for them). So what did he do? Binned it in the last corner during shootout when he's 2 tenths faster than Oscar. Then in the race, he messed up the start and fell down to like 6th while Oscar is comfortably cruising in 1st, and in the end he was only able to clutch up 3rd.
    Kinda reminds me of Leclerc in a way. Insane raw pace, but often makes unforced error when it counts, and lacks ability to think strategy on their own (though this shouldn't be a problem you need to deal with in mclaren unlike ferrari). Hopefully with more experience he'll be able to overcome this, and if another opportunity comes up, he can really perform at his best.

      The only way Oscar could win a race , and it was only a sprint race, is because there were less than 10 competitive laps with three safety cars and then no DRS for two laps at the restarts in an 18 lap race. I am sure Lando is not bothered about a sprint race result except the extra points .

    • @nerdcomplete7004
      @nerdcomplete7004 6 месяцев назад

      Both him and Charles make those mistakes not coz they're unconsistent or error-prone by nature, they're just desperate to find a couple of extra tenths in hope to beat or at least have a chance to beat Max, do they drive on the absolute edge. Max was the same when he was younger and tried to close the gap to Lewis.

    May, may, may...coulda, shoulda, woulda. Lando's only chance of a win would have to be because Max didn't finish the race for some reason. Max starts from 16th and still carves his way through the field like a lion for wins. Charles Leclerc is proof that out-qualifying Max and actually getting past and beating Max with pure race pace, superior tire degredation and flawless driving from one of the greatest of all time, are two entirely different matters and although Lando is a fast enough driver, his McLaren is just not up to the task on race pace. No matter how close Lando got in Brazil, Max was still just managing his own tires and race in clean air, while Lando used his tires up in dirty air trying to barely keep up.

    Lando started on p1 and Max on p2 in the Brasilian sprint. We all know what happened there. Lando Norris has to prove he does have what it takes. He is an awesome driver but not al awesome drivers win in F1 or can fight for a championship. He is now 24years old, he is not an exiting talent anymore Piastri is now. Piastri is moving fast.

      Nah completely disagree, if you look at the long runs Norris is miles better than Piastri and likewise when the car was less drivable earlier in the season Norris was much better than Piastri. Don’t get me wrong Piastri is going to be a talent in the future but Norris will be better for at least a fair few years

Been watching F1 since the 90's, usually I can spot it right I say alonso will become F1 world champion when he took his first pole in Malaysia, Hamilton when he fought hard with alonso, vettel on his first win with torro, and verstappen in suzuka. You can see the driver have enough hunger to be a world champion right away. Oscar will destroy lando soon enough and lando will just become another ricciardo.
