- ...and that's the last of Sonic's stages! :)
This stage was pretty easy...and forgettable. I'm glad it's in the game, but I honestly don't care for it. I just rushed through it and got the 60K+ score I wanted. It took me a few tries, though.
Anyway, Tails plays a lot better here than he did in the original. He's faster on the ground, he's easier to control in the air, and he has an actual gauge that lets you know how long you can fly. Plus, his bombs have a reticle now for easier aiming, even when sniping. He even has a new attack that uses his tails, which is nice, but I don't feel the need to use it most of the time.
Now, we can get to Shadow's stages! :D

your average run of wave ocean tails be like:
1: do nothing for 5 seconds
2: beat the crap out of all of the enemes at the start
3: wait 2 more seconds of nothing
4: spam ring bombs at enimes
5: rail
6: tail spin emimes
7: loose all your rings to a weak enemy
8: do nothing
9: die to a orca
10: get to end and beat up all the enimes but only get rank A
I speedrunned the shit out of this stage and got only B rank then I saw you fighting enemies and you got an S
Yeah, sometimes you need to defeat enemies to rack up enough points to get an S Rank.
This level is still a colossal waste of time in terms of the story.
Exactly why I don't give a shit about it. It's so irrelevant to me that I didn't bother trying to go for a very high score.
This irrelevancy could have been avoided if the first Wave Ocean stage had been removed, but I guess the developers wanted a stupid tutorial level or whatever.
There’s dialogue accounting for what was going on so it’s clear there was more story planned to explain this (it implies Eggman tricked Sonic into chasing a false lead somewhere else) so there’s that at least. Too bad it didn’t fully form.
Am I the only one who found this to be such a painful level to S rank? Like srsly I had about 16000 score 60 rings and 1:50 time and I still didn't get the S rank!
