Thank you for your info and showing us the success and sometimes the failures. I'm encouraged. "Gardening is a journey" ! I love your pep talks.
I had those blasted signs too! I was so busy with everything I missed checking my garden 2 days… we found 13! My tomatoes were near marigolds, borage and basil. Treated snd now 2 weeks later we have good plants and ripe tomatoes! Glad you caught them!
Yes so glad for you!
OK sorry about the hornworms! But! This video I needed today, I am in 6b and putting seeds in the ground for Muir lettuce because I think I watched a video of yours before about the class you took and started searching for heat tolerant lettuces! Now I have more faith this might work!
Thank you so much Barbara I was not on a schedule but I will be from now on. Love your channel Louisville Kentucky
Thanks for watching!
That hornworm was huge.
Same here with the heat it's 7 pm and still 94 with heat index of 99. And I need to be outside planting the next round of beans
I have the basil and marigolds too. My tomatoes are still so small. They can’t afford a horn worm. I’ll pray too
I found my first Horne work this week. Their were two!
Oh no!
Beautiful garden 😊
Nice video. Sorry you in country you know those pest coming. I spray my plants weekly along with my fruit trees. Sorry I need my fruit. Happy Gardening.
I'm in the upstate of sc and it's been different than last year. A lot of pests and very few pollinators and I even planted trap crops and butterfly weed. My green beans are just starting to produce and they are getting destroyed by those fuzzy yellow bugs and haven't even picked a bean yet
I didn’t know lettuce grows in the summer in the south!
It can!
By the time we see any tomato hornworms they are usually attacked by parasitic wasps that have laid there eggs on them. I just pluck them off and place them somewhere else so the parasitic wasp eggs can continue to eat the hornworm and hatch.
"He bout ta die. Taday" 😂. Never had hornworms but slugs & aphids woo
Hornworms have been a nemesis in my garden as well. However, last year I randomly placed sweet basil throughout and purposely near my tomatoes and peppers. The fragrance deters the moths that lays the eggs for these rascals. They can decimate a plant overnight. Keep gardening friend.
I have basil everywhere!
Barbara are you going to the Food Independence Summit next week in Berlin Ohio?
No never heard of it!
@@AGardenersJourneyHomestead check it out. I think it’s going to be very interesting. I’m leaving this morning to head to Ohio. It’s 2 days filled with speakers and demonstrations. I’ll let you know how it goes.
@@wvnanaskitchenandgarden ok will do and thanks! Let me know what you think!
@@AGardenersJourneyHomestead I will
Hornworms are the worst. I walk my garden everyday and sometimes miss something. This year is different for a lot of stuff.
There’s a hornworm hanging on the plant you showed at the end of the video. I pray you saw it and plucked it.
I did not! But we plucked off a few after video so I assume we got it!
He was pruning them sucker's for you😂😅 I'm sorry, let me go check mine again😬
Yes keep a look out!
Hey friend things are still looking amazing in your garden even with the OOPS🤷🏽♀️😂Tell me why I started out with 5 different varieties of tomatoes for this growing season to end up with 12 in all🤣🤣I had a friend give me 5 varieties from the seeds they started for their garden😂❤it I’m like you free plants why not🤣
Whoa 12!! Keep me posted on the ones you love!
@@AGardenersJourneyHomestead I sure will. Pineapple, Orange Russian, German Red, Big Zac and Sugar Hybrid small cherry🤷🏽♀️😂
@@erikacarter Wow I have not heard of some of those!
@@AGardenersJourneyHomestead You know I sure haven’t 🤣I had to google each one to see what to expect in shape and size🤣 the German Red I definitely want to taste, when I googled German red it came back German red strawberry.
First 💚
You can see a hornworm at the 22.29 marker in your video. He is jusy hanging out.
Unbelievable! I see it on the video!!
Hi Barbara, What’s the temperature in your tunnel when it’s like 80 outside?
if it is in the 80's it is 100 in the tunnel
@@AGardenersJourneyHomestead oh wow.
I love how the Lord speaks to us when we need it the most. Great advice you gave us!
Barbara, thank you for your gardening prowess, wisdom, and help. I pray your garden renains blessed and beautiful.
Ugh. Now I’m going to be checking for horn worms
It seems an extra buggy year this season😮.
It really is I saw my first squash vine borer today! I tried to drown it!! I blasted my whole squash leaves and all. I found some squash bug eggs and smooshed them.
Y'all remember that book the hungry hungry caterpillar? That's what a horn worm is like.
Yes!
